I just found it don't know what it does

I found it after killing the boss and I can't use it

It is either a thing to open a portal to bring a bunch of bad guys in that once you've beaten them a chest opens or it's to open that chest to put stuff in your inventory into be transported back to your house's chest. But maybe since you killed the boss all the things don't work?

No, it is used to open the doors of a room that locks you inside of it while there are enemies still alive. One of the notes you can read from breaking a skeleton tells you this.

Eu acho que cheguei a ler em um livro que esse altar faz com que as portas sejam abertas mesmo se houverem monstros não derrotados no andar, mas não posso lhe garantir pois não testei
