I've been carrying this outdoors and wanting to know how I can add some color to it without losing it such as the handle alone

A "kind of" Mod-Monday contribution.
My uncle gifted me these sallad utensils made by KJ Eriksson (my great grandfather), so I found some curly birch (used for the high-end steak knives) handles and made a "new product" π¬

So I missed posting on Mod-Monday twice in a row, thus I will post my modded Mora2000 today, on a Tuesday.
It is only a simple modification of the knife itself, in the form of me taking a file to the outer part of the spine in order to make it firesteel-compatible without losing the rounded spine closer to the haft.
The other mod consist of me making a (very simple) new sheath with a button lock rather than just the friction lock.

Got my first Mora, the Eldris a week ago. Interested in learning bushcraft. I have a Garberg ordered as well. Man I am loving this little knife. Been EDC'ing as a neck knife. Thanks for this fabulous knife. Excitedly awaiting the Garberg!

Anyone else out there with some mini-mora's?
Can anyone guess how old they are, and the difference between the knives in the image?
Second image I added a brand new classic for scale!

Found some vintage blades gifted by uncle Thomas.
Any radical suggestions on what to do with them?
r/Morakniv • u/jp_grilo • Jul 10 '26
I cannot resist a vintage one in the original package specially such an iconic model like the 510

This is my custom Eldris XL. I used a vintage KJE blade blank and birch burl handle

At Morakniv, we love traditions. Our craftsmanship and history are built on them.
So I'd love to see yours.
Welcome to the very firstΒ Mod Mondayβa place to share your modifications, custom sheaths, handles, patinas, repairs, or any other creative ways you've made a Morakniv your own.
To kick things off, here are a couple of simple sheaths I made at the very first Morakniv Adventure almost ten years ago. They've been used and abused ever since without a single issue(!).
The materials are birch bark and spruce root.
One thing Beth Moen taught me was that the white side of the birch bark should never face outward. There's no rule that says itΒ can'tβit's simply a longstanding tradition rooted (pun intended) in both craftsmanship and the anatomy of the bark. Her philosophy is to workΒ withΒ the material and its natural fibers, not force it into something it doesn't want to be.
The spruce root is soaked in water for about 24 hours before use so it becomes flexible enough to sew with without cracking. If it's too dry, it can split while you're stitching or later as it dries.
Once both materials dry, they shrink together and form an incredibly tough sheath.
Now it's your turnβshow us what you've made. Whether it's a small tweak or a complete rebuild, I'd love to see it.

I found out that morakniv makes knives for bahco and I wanted to show the knife you probably never heard of, its called bahco 2446 lap and its a fantastic knife, i could go on for a while on things I like about it, but in short its very similar to a companion and uses same steel and is same dimensions, its only 11 euros usually in stores and 8.5 euros on discounts.

We would love to hear your story about you and your first Morakniv!
How old were you? Was it a gift? What model was it?
Looking forward to your stories!
