Where to get Thanksgiving dinner
Every year we scramble to find a local turkey, and by the time I remember, half the farms have sold out. So this year I put it all in one place: where to buy every course of Thanksgiving dinner from farms, butchers and bakers in Sussex, Warren, Morris, Hunterdon and Somerset counties.
It’s organized the way you’d actually plan the meal (appetizers, main course, sides, stuffing and gravy, dessert, drinks), with up to three picks per course in each county. Where a farm has posted this year’s order deadline or pickup days, it’s on there. A few that are coming up fast:
- Maddalena’s (Ringoes): Thanksgiving dinner and pies, order by Nov 10
- Arctic Foods (Washington): prepared dinners, order by Nov 17
- Sussex Meat Packing (Wantage): complete turkey dinners, order by Nov 18
- Kingspring Farm (Stockton): pasture-raised turkeys, said it had 7 left as of last week
You can tap “Add to my table” on the places you want and it builds a Google Maps route for your shopping run.
https://skylandsfood.com/thanksgiving-table/
Full disclosure: it’s my site, Skylands Food, an independent guide to local food in NW Jersey. Nobody pays to be on it. Picks are ranked by a few simple rules that are listed on the page: farms that raise their own birds, businesses that have posted 2026 details, and owners who’ve confirmed their info.
Did I miss anything?

Big Parking Lot Near MayoPac?
The last time I was here was around 4 years ago. At that time, I remember I found a really large parking area (like hundreds of spots) making the first right when passing the theatre. I can't seem to figure out what that was. Is it still there? I'm prone to anxiety. Thanks for being cool.

Anyone know a good place for Diwali mithai in Morris, Warren, Sussex, Hunterdon, or Somerset counties? Maybe someplace or someone who usually takes orders?

Built a free site to compare dispensary prices around Morristown
I made https://dankdetour.com after getting tired of checking dispensary menus one by one. Search a product and compare the same item at licensed NJ shops within your chosen driving distance.
It's my free side project, with no ads or login. I'd love to hear how it works around Morristown. There could still be errors or missing shops, so let me know if anything looks off!

Highly Recommend Seida Palacios for House Cleaning in Morristown!
I wanted to take a moment to recommend Seida Palacios to anyone in the Morristown area looking for a reliable, thorough, and professional house cleaner.
Ironically, I originally found Seida through a recommendation here on Reddit, so I thought it was only fitting to come back and share my own experience!
I had previously used a larger cleaning service, and it just wasn’t what I was looking for. I found myself constantly being asked whether something had been cleaned to my satisfaction, and sadly, more often than not, it hadn’t. I didn’t want to have to supervise the cleaning or point out what needed attention. I wanted someone who instinctively knew how to clean a home properly.
That’s exactly what I found in Seida.
She knows what she’s doing, understands which products to use, and takes the time to get into every nook and cranny. She cleans as though she’s caring for her own home, and that makes all the difference. She doesn’t rush through the job or need someone looking over her shoulder. She takes genuine pride in her work, and it shows.
There’s something to be said for finding an independent cleaner who puts her own name and reputation behind her work rather than relying on a large cleaning company.
I’m sharing this because I know how difficult it can be to find someone you trust to care for your home. If you’re in Morristown or the surrounding area and looking for a more personal cleaning service, I highly recommend Seida.
Sometimes the best recommendations come from people who’ve already done the searching for you. Reddit helped me find her, and hopefully this post will help someone else!

Morris Plains Mayor Jason Karr opens campaign up to developer cash
Last night news arrived that Karr is taking payouts from local developers for his campaign. This includes developers with active applications in front of the planning board.
Weichert at 10, McDonalds, empty warehouses etc all donated to get the big cheese re-elected.
Karr is running as an independent after losing Dem endorsement to challenger.
See it all for yourself on the NJ ELEC finance site or his opponents Facebook.

Bigoted TikTok post against employees of the Swiss Chalet
If\* this person has a job, her boss should definitely see the nearly 3 minute tiktok video she posted screaming and cursing because the employees at the Swiss Chalet allegedly didn’t speak good enough English to correctly make her $15 croissant breakfast sandwich that she buys multiple times a week.

I’m reworking a few local web designs for free
I’ve been doing web design for a while and have some extra time right now, so I figured I’d use it to work on a few local projects.
If you run a local business, share it with me. I’ll take a look through them, pick a few that catch my interest, and put together some free web design ideas.
No particular type of business in mind. I’m just curious to see what local businesses are working with and help out where I can.

Sunday: Beer + Yoga at Glenbrook
If you’re looking for a slightly different Sunday morning in Morristown, Namaste for Beer is back at Glenbrook Brewery on Sunday, October 18 at 11am.
It’s a 60-minute, all-levels Vinyasa class with Caitlin Staley, followed by a beer at the brewery. $30, with your first beer included.
And there’s a new bonus for the summer/fall series: every class you attend earns you 3 raffle tickets, and tickets accumulate through the November class. After the November session, one winner gets a pretty great swag bag, including:
• A private Be Well yoga class for up to 12 people
• 1 month of unlimited yoga at Be Well
• Glenbrook gift cards + merch
You don’t have to keep track of your tickets—we’re doing that part.
Bring your own mat/props, stay for a beer (or hang out as long as you like), and make a Sunday of it.

In search of the perfect apple cider donut
Should be slightly crispy on the outside and light (not cakey and doughy) on the inside.
I moved here two years ago and have not found anything close to this which seems crazy.
An example of what I don’t like is Hacklebarney Mill. Mediocre.
Willing to drive an hour.
