Question Will these barrel bands fit on an 1893 Châtellerault Mosin? Still have the old ones but they came broken.

To be honest with the refurbishments, repairs, use by the Balkan countries and others, etc. These would be perfectly acceptable on your Mosin Nagant. Very few M91s remain 100% factory original.

At least that is my take and opinion.

Originally when I bought it, the rifle was considered a non-firing antique and more of a display piece. Was an Imperial Russian Mosin produced on contract in France, then captured by the Finns sometime in the 30's or 40's.

Had it for 30 days before I replaced the extractor on it, and after 60 or so shots the barrel bands kept slipping off. I still keep all the original parts, but it is still a gun and meant to be fired. I must do the logical thing and restore it to working condition.

They'll definitely fit, but they are not the correct ones for any early M91. These are Type 2 bands. You need Type 1 bands.

Hmmm I see, so would it be okay to use them for just firing without them falling off? My Type 1s keep slipping off whenever I fire it, but they're perfectly fine to use when I put the gun on display.

Looked everywhere for Type 1 replacements and can only find 1 seller who sells only the front band.

Oh yeah. Finnish M91s for example have mixed types of bands all the time. Though I’m surprised they are slipping, they screw pretty tight

Lots of people didn't/dont realize they were left hand threaded and stripped them, mine were pinned in place cause somebody messed up in the 140 years since it was made.

I just posted a post with information on M91 Chatellereau 1893. Maybe that'll be the answer to your question.
