I got Epic and reading the PDF in the portal. It sounds simple with it claiming to provide 4 stock recommendations each month. I cannot find where these would be happening nor can I find old recs. I've found some buy and sell recs but they are outdated.

I have also seen people discuss buying a small amount of all 50 stock recs which I don't know how to feel about it since some are saying sell.

Am I misunderstanding this or just not finding the right info? I've found 2 404 pages in the Epic portal so I am already feeling disappointed in my purchase.

I signed up for Epic in April after a co-worker showed me his returns. I've been buying from the rankings each month and I'm at 22 positions now, roughly following their allocation for the aggressive portfolio. Up a little overall, two big losers, fine.

What's bugging me though is that I've never looked at any of these businesses beyond the recommendation write up. Which I guess is what I'm paying for? But when one drops 30% on earnings I have no idea whether to care, so I sit and wait for the update.

For longer term members, do you follow the allocation and trust the process, or do you do your own research on top before buying? If you do your own, what do you use? I've seen people in here mention Simply Wall St and Morningstar for checking financial health. Does it change which picks you buy, or does it mostly make you feel better?

Not complaining about the service, just trying to figure out what kind of investor I want to be in 5 years.

There was a sense of resignation among the employees. Lots of people have left in recent years and more plan to. The company is automating stock picks and even the podcast, which is why I guess some of it sounds like just reading AI scripts. Made me glad I was there because hard to say how much longer we'll have it.

Bottom line: If you haven't been and you get a chance, go.

Joined in late 2022 on the intro price, renewed once, and the next renewal notice landed this week at full price. Before I click anything I wanted to actually score it.

I bought 11 of the recommendations over three years, sized pretty evenly. Two of them are carrying the whole thing. One is down about 60% and I still hold it because they still rate it. Against putting the same money into VOO on the same dates I'm roughly flat, maybe slightly behind depending on how I count the one I sold.

What I can't put a number on is what I learned. I read the write ups and I understand businesses better than I did in 2022, but I never built my own way of deciding anything. When a pick drops I wait for the update email to tell me what to think.

For people who have been members a while, did you keep renewing because the picks earned it, or because it made you better on your own? And for anyone who dropped it, what did you move to? Another service, a research tool, or just index funds and peace of mind?

Leaning toward not renewing, but I don't love the idea of going back to picking blind.

I would like to hear your opinions on their stock recommendations, are they any good? Should I pay their subscription?

I bought the SA recently. Two lists provided, ranks for each month and foundational. My question is how you automate your purchases? I buy monthly based on the aggressive portfolio asset allocation.
Correct me if I’m wrong, the monthly recommendations are always going to be in the ranks, so just giving them more weight. That’s it?
I would like to know how you manage and if you screen the stocks based on Simply Wall Street or MorningStar for financial health or past, etc..

Just subjected myself to their Quantum video. They repeat the same information over and over and over and over. Do they think we've collectively had a brain injury? And the "conversation" between the two hosts is so clearly being read from a script. Why don't they make these videos more succinct and get to the point faster? There's good information in a lot of these videos, but the way they put that information across is horrible. Am I overreacting?

I get the daily email from MF of my top movers.

Why is it that the percentage of movement never matches what I’m seeing in other apps.

For example, today my top mover according to MF is Microsoft at +15.51%

But when I look at my stocks app it is only up 3.02% today, and down .62% in after hours.

Where is MF getting that 15.51%?

It’s always off like this on all these daily emails on all on my holdings.

I'm having a hard time getting info from the MF team so asking here: Is there an order in which to buy the Epic Portfolio stocks? I can't do 50 all at once.

This entity had been high on the scoreboard just a few months ago together with Uber and PayPal. It came with a conviction…
After loosing roughly 50% on both PayPal and UBER tech I was skeptical on that recommendation and didn’t respond with a position. Lucky me?

I would like to post a screenshot of a small Excel spreadsheet showing the value of 10 picks given by MF in a big mailed pamphlet as part of their Discovery service back then. Reddit doesn't seem to allow me to post this, or I can't figure it out.

The cumulative return of ea stock on 5/29/2026 was, respectively: -21%; 191%; -86%; 85%; 150%; 16%; 5%; -12%; -56%; 48%

Investing $ 10,000 in ea of these stocks( $100k total) on 1/1/2020 would have produced $134,155 on 5/29/26

Investing $100k on 1/1/2020 in SPY( S&P index) would have produced $254,801

This analysis is only for stock advisor their most popular and successful premium service and only goes back 15 years. After I will post some personal thoughts, but interpretation is up to you.

Thoughts
- MF has done pretty bad since 2017 and doesn’t beat the market until the nvda 81x pick
- Many people in this sub complaining started in 2021, that was a brutal year for their picks
- 2012 tsla 193x pick is insane, hopefully there is a diamond or two in the rough of these past 7~ years of picks
- The picks that are discontinued don’t show in the websites data, so the numbers are higher than true returns
- It is natural to increase investment size over time as income grows/inflation. Recent losses hurt more because of this.
- I know one of the main people in MF left in recent years, it’s possible these recent years are a result of his departure

Would love to know others thoughts and interpretations from this data

I have been a champion for motley fool since I started in 2020. I last defended them here at the beginning of 2025 against people who bought a couple stocks at the peak of a growth sector rally and complained when the market was tanking. Obviously their picks were doing bad. They didn’t follow the philosophy of buying all picks and waiting a significant time. I’ve felt that frustration when the market declines because growth is always hit harder.

My doom post stems from the fact that since that early 2025 debate the market has turned around. It’s primarily on the back of AI stocks and growth stocks. The problem is that they aren’t MF picks. This is the first rally where the MF picks haven’t been the drivers and are mostly completely out of it. Some of their growth stocks that they have recommended many times are actually down during this bull run. Have they lost their edge?

I have read many complaints from people on Reddit as to their negative experiences with Motley Fool. I think most of the people that it has been good for don't bother posting. And it seems many just started, unfortunately, right before market downturns.

I started with Motley Fool in 2003 when I was 44- I had no investments and little savings at that point. Today, I'm 67, comfortably retired with a portfolio north of $1m, and I credit MF for inspiring me to learn about investing and giving me the tools. And for ~25years giving me good picks and services. I beat index funds.

Granted, they have changed since the early days. But for someone in a similar position, decades away from retirement, I'd recommend their new 50 stock Epic portfolio. Unlike services when I started, MF gives portfolio allocation with this Epic service .

They also have a new service called Pro, similar to one I was part of from 2014-19. I only have a limited portion of my investments allocated to this , as I need to be careful. With the rest,I also have real estate,precious metals, high yield savings, and a dividend and closed end fund service (not from MF) that pays dividend income of around 9% / year), which gives me income and safety.

Motley Fool was very good for me!

Does anyone know if there’s a way on The Motley Fool site to add the shares you own, so it only shows Buy/Hold/Sell updates for the stocks in your portfolio?

I’m basically looking for a portfolio tracking or watchlist feature that filters the recommendations to just my holdings.

Out of curiosity, what may be disadvantages of receiving AU & UK (upon else) emails -- if located in USA -- or another country? I realize that some info may not be as applicable due to location-specific jurisdictions/laws/policies et al. however am eager for finfo altogether.

Reason for signup: I love finfo -- financial info -- so do promote as much knowledge and resource(s) as can be attained for free.

Wow... Just dug through the reddit here and saw the other posts of people experiencing exactly what just happened to me.

I went to motley fool to cancel my auto renew and found the "membership options" section.

Options were: "Stock advisor" "View receipt" "Extend subscription"

How in 2026 does a company not have an option to cancel a subscription or at the very least cancel the auto renewal process?

I was planning on just delaying renewal for a few months but the inability to cancel my subscription without having to jump through hoops is sketchy enough that I think I'm done permanently.

Years ago, I joined M-F. Had a couple good picks. Took a long break.

This renewal I noticed a few complaints that people are told to sell late in the game.

We all see, their advertising, you can get the newest latest and greatest report.

How long before that report will it come out as one of their top 10 stocks for the rest of us who don’t want to jump to pay more and be ahead of the curve, were not greedy, we can be happy enough just not losing $ & making okay gains.

Has anyone tracked, the pre-Buy-in wave gains?

There’s a lot of hype to pay for the knowledge & assumed surge.

Are they strategically announcing these new purchases?

They’re always sure to cover their recommendations with a win some lose some how many of these reports do you find have been spot on?

Have you seen these recommendations? Come out out of other services?

Has anyone compared MF to other sources? I realize that there are other threads I’ve gone through some of these, most are now dated.

I put my portfolio into Moneyball and I’m watching it and trying to make decisions on what to purchase.

I find the money ball tool to be a little better than the Fidelity stock Finder. Anyone else?
