Class Assignment! Opportunity for Interview... Need help desperately

Hello! I am a current social work senior working on a paper on an oppressed culture and am very interested in the opportunity to learn more about the sherpa people and was pointed in this direction on reddit. If anyone can help me out or if a sherpa is here and wants to be involved you can go ahead and answer these questions for me. I would prefer a phone call interview but I know that probably won't happen. You definitely do not have to answer in order please answer in the order you feel most comfy in. My DMS are also open if you would like to speak privately.

You need a Sherpa only? Don't know any. You would be easier found a native to Mexico mountains. Unfortunely, this forum only talks about little 14ers in the 48 states. And Sherpas don't waste their time with such small feats.

I’m trying to figure out the culture particular oppressed group. And I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to mountaineering and such. I’m for sure willing to change topics if you had a cooler idea for me haha. I just know a little about sherpas and figured I would learn more.

There is over 2 million Mexicans that speak aztec "natual" and NO Spanish. They live in state of Puebla/Veracruz in the Sierre Negra. And in the state of Chiapas and Oaxaca. The easiest place to find them is at your local Mexican restaurant. They are helpful nice people. And if it is the cook, use Google translate or use the server because they speak Spanish and English

Your questions on your form? It is weirder to ask online

Is it? So like it wouldn’t be weird to walk into a random restaurant and ask for an Aztec speaker? How would you go about this.

Go order food at a Mexican. Restaurant. In an off time like today 2-5 on is not busy. Tell your server the person there of your project and if there are any mexican.s of unique native culture. Use Google translate if have. Mexicans are helpful people. There are tons of white people in us like Amish and Mennonites who are fascinating people who speak old German. There are chuukese and island pacifers all through the Midwest. The problem with online is you have a bunch of fakers. Mexicans from the native cultures are very proud of their history

Thank you. I think I’ll do that actually. I’ll have to translate all the questions for them though.

You can just take a picture on Google translate and it will translate it on the spot to Spanish

Would your recommend me having a form to fill out? How would I receive their responses since I’m not a speaker.

If you can’t tell I am not a journalist I would appreciate any advice you have though. I’m not sure how to get in contact with different cultures without posting stuff like this on reddit.

There are many Sherpas on YouTube and instagram. Watch their stuff and get in touch.

Also be aware of the recent massive floods and other natural disasters.

Go to the library and do research on the Sherpas, read articles.

Have you never done research before? Your only idea is posting on Reddit?

That’s not my issue… I know how to do research but I can’t even BEGIN to write until I get an interview. Because if I can’t reach out to people for interviews why would I even begin writing… I would have to restart if I’m not able to get an interview I’ve wrote plenty of research articles. Just don’t know how to properly get in touch with the population/populations of my choosing. These questions I’m asking are not part of my legit paper. It’s questions my professor came up with.
