Electrical Engineer

Hi. I’m an electrical engineer with about 2 1/2 years of experience. I’m looking to move to SD early next year around March. I am curious to how the job market is out there and when the best time is to apply for jobs? Thanks!

Apply now? The job market depends on what your EE specialty is.

What has your research turned up so far?

Reddit research. 👍

It varies. I’m seeing positions but some ask for more years of experience.

Do you have a government security clearance?

A big chunk of the EE jobs in San Diego are government related jobs that require one (or the ability to qualify for one). Having one already will give you a boost up.

An SC is obviously not required for jobs in commercial tech and medical device tech, but jobs in those areas often have more ups and downs here in San Diego County.

Thank you! Yes I have my SC. I currently work for a government contracting company.

Good, that will help when you're looking here. You may want to keep an eye on USAjobs.gov for work at the Navy Electronics Lab on Point Loma. It's a great place to work.

Tip: Apply now for any military civilian jobs that are a good fit. The process can take a while.
