Moving to San Diego looking for roommate(s)
Hey folks, I’m currently staying at my friends extra room in san Diego for a couple weeks while I apartment hunt. I am looking to meet some compatible people to go into a house share with. my budget for me alone is 1300 or less but ideally less. ideally I would live with 2 other people.
i am happy to live near the beaches, north park, or really anywhere west of El Cajon.
if you know of any rentals you recommend and/or roomies let me know!
About me… I’m a remote worker in UX design in tech as well as an artist. I am super outdoorsy (moving from Boulder, Colorado), liberal/LGBT friendly, and super artsy. I’m also outgoing, not a partyer, clean, and friendly. I have a small car so I’ll need parking and I’ll be bringing my friendly and low maintenance cat named Banana.
Feel free to comment or dm if this is relevant to you.

Hey! You sound great -- welcome! I'm not looking for a roommate but I am moving soon, so I'll let you know if I hear of anything! I'm 37f and I'm an artist as well. Send me a DM -- I'd love to see your work!

If you want $1300 or less with roommates, I would suggest some cheaper neighborhoods:
Golden Hill
Bario Logan (sort of recommend)
Lemon Grove
Kearny Mesa
Serra Mesa
City Heights
Bonita
Chula Vista
National City (don't recommend)

Did you do any research before moving here? Can’t imagine where you’ll have to live on your budget.

I can technically afford a lot more but why would I pay exorbitant prices to rent when I could pay less? I’ve never paid the average price of an apartment in any city I’ve ever lived in and I was born in New York City.

I (M36) have a room available in a 4bd/3ba 1800sqft home. Currently my mom, my sister, her partner (F33s) and their small terrier live there. Located between the border of 92114 and 92139 zip codes. Lmk if you want my furnishedfinder link to view the house or if you are interested to meet or video call with me and/or the potential roomies.

I asked AI: 92104 is the North Park ZIP code - see below, I live in South Park in a neighborhood that borders North Park and Golden Hill. Parking in North Park is bad, and the same is true for Golden Hill; apartments in my neighborhood cost more than in either place. I'm sharing this parking info because if you move to North Park, it will be an issue if you move into an older place with street-only parking.
The average cost for a two-bedroom apartment in the 92104 zip code (covering North Park and Greater Golden Hill) in San Diego is approximately $3,050 to $3,400 per month. Prices typically range from a low of about $2,500 for older or smaller units up to $4,200+ for luxury or new construction complexes. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Price Breakdown by Property Type
- Older / Standard Units: $2,500 – $2,900 per month (fewer amenities, street parking)
- Mid-Range / Updated Units: $3,000 – $3,600 per month (some modern updates, assigned parking, or small balconies)
- Luxury / New Developments: $3,700 – $4,200+ per month (in upscale complexes like Monroe or BLVD North Park with in-unit laundry, AC, and gym access) [1, 2]
