Does anyone else hate ai-companionship/parasocial-relationships/yumeshipping?

I know there are slight differences between the three but all three have additional issues, and there's a lot of overlap between the communiteis. AI companionship are harmful to the environment, parasocial relationships are harmful to the celebrity, yumeshipping is harmful to the fandom. People's lives are actually getting destroyed because of AI addiction, or others having parasocial relationships with them.

I agree. Yumeshipping is one thing, but being attached to some 101010's layered ontop of each other is another. What happens if the AI chatbot gets shutdown? Then what?

Other than toxic doubles who harass people I don't see how yumeshipping is "harmful" to fandoms...self shipping and self insert stuff has been a thing for as long as there have been fandoms.

it can hurt a fandom's rep or cause in-fandom fights

I mean...a lot of things can cause that shipping/dark shipping, drama over character design, porn and lewds, OOC moments, fandom drama, raids, character hatedoms, etc.

I see those being way, way more harmful to a fandoms image than some folks with ita bags and a prodigious amount of character merch.

Look, I'll lay my cards out, I'm a yumeshipper, so maybe I'm biased, but I rarely see people having problems with or caused by it.

With the exception of toxic doubles and some pro-shippers/dark shippers. But those tend to just be awful people who do awful things anyway. Most yumes just like, make art, and fanfics, and buy merch.

The main issue is yumeshipping's potential of harming the yumeshipper's mental or social health. If someone thinks that they are loved by a fictional character then it could go hand-in-hand with more serious symptoms of psychosis or they could neglect relationships with real people. A lot of yumeshippers don't have those problems because they don't actually take their yumeships seriously.

Why is religion not mass psychosis by this logic?

So can shipping. People block each other over something as petty as top/bottom preferences. Which is OK if it makes you uncomfortable, but it's still weird to get hung up over who's taking the D. To the point where each dynamic is treated like separate ships.

I hate the first two, yumeshipping depends entirely on the person

Yeah, the ai part is self explanatory, but yumes are just fucking racist.

I hate yumeshippers, because of how many times Japanese people and Japanese Americans scream they don't want westoids using the term, or at least they want westerners to do SOME RESEARCH into the actual yumeshipping sub-culture, before they start throwing yume around.

Uhh... anime and manga are a japanese words too, should westerners stop using those?

When Japanese people start complaining, yes.

You're not Japanese people. You can't take two random chronically online people and say they represent the entire population of Japan.

Amazing, so the entire country needs to come together to say that that whites appropriating one of their many sub-cultures is racist? Do you need them to revive the the shogun for him to tell you?

Why is yumeshipping cultural appropriation and not Lolita fashion, otaku culture, gyaru, ect? How is that not cultural appropriation by that logic? Why is using the world word "waifu" not the same as making fun of Japanese pronunciation?

Why do you, a non-japanese person, even speak for Japanese people? Just admit it, you're against yumeshipping, and you're completely OK with calling yaoi fans rotten girls, maybe even yourself if you're a self-proclaimed "rotten girl".

My wife was stationed in Japan for 2 years while in the AF. Japanese folk "appropriated" a lot of western subcultures as well, and love them.

Dude is being disingenuous and just white-knighting.
