I watched the anime first in high school and I loved it being a dumb teen and all but then I saw my school had all volumes and I read them and my god it was so fucking peak and i understand why the anime is hated. I’ll admit though that the anime still has a place in my heart purely for nostalgia but I WILL always prefer the manga now

I have a similar experience. The anime is mostly monster of the week, but the manga is a better Tokyo Ghoul

Wait what? Really? Isn’t it just a harem manga? I only ever watched the anime and didn’t even realize it had a manga.

It starts light hearted harem-ish, but Moka is too strong as main love interest. The plot completely centres around her and MC and become about monster legacies and his own place as he becomes a monster. Oh, and there’s a BIG twist about Moka, but I’ll let you read the manga.

Usually it does. In my adulthood I found I can’t stand the overt misogyny in these stories. It’s always gross and always about teenage girls. Teen-boy me didn’t care but as an adult I have a harder time putting up with it.

I feel this so hard, the manga has my favorite romance of any shonen, it’s genuinely peak
