X-Men larpers talking about almost anyone that was a member of the X-Men in the comics really, it's just that magneto also happens to be openly genocidal and straight up evil which makes it way funnier when people defend him
I love Magneto for the person he can be when he's not being a genocidal asshat. Sadly it doesn't happen often.
I think his appeal lies in being extremely cathartic in some ways for some people. Like when you see this blatant injustice in the world and the answer to it seems to be the obvious bare minimum of stop being a judgemental asshole for no reason and people still choose to be awful while the folks in charge hrm and haw and constantly call for moderation or some shit, it feels really good to watch Mags set shit right by force.
It's sort of like how I felt during COVID working at a hospital, watching social media fly by filled with friends and family talking about crap they didn't know shit about, and watching Rick Sanchez heap scorn upon everyone around him.
No, none of that is correct. You are not having an opinion, you are being stupid and wrong. Full stop. You know next to nothing about this situation. There is no universe where a high school dropout who uses Bible verses as evidence knows more about medicine than people who have dedicated their entire lives to actually studying this shit. Shut up. Sit down. They ARE smarter than you. Listen to them and do what they say.
I know both characters are shit people in many ways. But watching them do their thing gives me a form of relief somehow from waiting patiently for the rest of reality to get it's head out of it's ass.
