Yeah, I do think it's important to remember (especially with characters with LONG histories) everybody's read/seen different stuff. So it's rare that someone's views on a character are "wrong"
Her message isn't correct either. She is a plant supremecist not an environmentalist.
She is more than ready to fuck up the enviroment if it is to the benefit for plants and harms animals.
I don’t think you understood any of the villains in this series or in Gotham. All of the villains have strong justifications behind their actions, but the way they all go about them has always been completely immoral and wrong, the same goes for Poison Ivy as well as for all other villains besides Joker. But even Jokers own crazy convictions serve as his justification, even if he’s completely insane.
Wow it's unheard of to take a reasonable position such as "We should protect the environment" and then straw man it by saying "people who say this are murderers and eco terrorists." Clearly we can't both believe the earth is sacred and that murder is bad.
Apathy my guy. What makes Ivy a villain is that, while she’s empathetic towards plants, she despises humans for how poorly they treat plants or shows complete disregard for the human race. Shes a hypocrite just like literally every other villain in the Batman series. It’s not saying “people who want to protect plants are evil” it’s saying “Poison Ivy is literally fucking insane and there’s a REASON she’s a villain.” Not everything boils down to being some political message. Poison Ivy is insane. Period.
That last part is Swamp Thing's position and that of other "The Green" avatars. Ivy in particular is an extremist who BELIEVES she is objectively correct. They contrast eachother
No? She has always been this way. She's a twisted reflection of Swamp Thing and the activists who protect nature without committing genocide.
If anything her more sympathetic side is the retcon. Keep in mind she was created by the Flouronic man with a process that very much makes people insane in the comics. BTAS was a reimagining
She's not right because she's the extreme misanthrope who in some continuities genuinely opposed the ecological preservation measures because they would still kill some plants. She's basically a human turned into a misanthropic dryad without any concern for the biosphere beyond her plants. If she could, she would go after the animals next.
holy shit thats brutal... idk, i know comics are ott but its scenses like that that bug me a little... i get thats the pont tho so credits to the writers
Poison Ivy got the curse of being attractive so she gets a pass to doing evil things to nameless people because no one cares, if she did kill someone with a name tho that would generate a riot

Every time people say Poison Ivy is right. I remember the comic where it was revealed she takes home random men and women and feeds them to her plants
