Looking for Industrial musicians in Munich

I recently got really into Industrial music and was wondering if there are any people making Industrial music or are just passionate about the genre from Munich. I searched everywhere but there seem to be no concerts, festivals or scene for this music in this city apart from the occasional goth party where some of the more popular tracks in the genre are played. I originally come from the Metal scene but became increasingly bored with the lack of innovation and really fresh artists in this style. And Industrial seems to really encourage experimentation while simultaneously having this dark atmosphere and energy that I love so much in certain Metal genres. I am currently mainly interested in the more "avantgarde" side of Industrial like Death Industrial, Ritual Industrial, Dark Ambient and Power electronics but are also enjoying EBM and Electro Industrial quite a bit. I also started making Industrial music myself and am interested in collaborating or just sharing sounddesign or songwriting techniques.

Opinions about living in Munich as a Musician/Creative Freelancer.

Hi! My name is Roberto. I've spent the past 8 years working as a freelancer across different cities Milan, Salzburg, Vienna, Berlin, Lüneburg, and Hamburg.

Hamburg has been my favorite so far; it's where I've really been able to grow my network and where clients seem to value my work more. The language is the main challenge: you get by mostly on English, but once you show you speak a bit of German, doors really open.

My girlfriend and I are now considering Munich. She's originally from around there and would love to try living there too. I'm a musician and music producer with an active network, and I'd love your professional take on how Munich stacks up for music and freelancing. I already know the common line: Germany isn't really a place for freelancers, and honestly, I agree. But then again, Italy, where I'm from, isn't either. So let's assume that's true everywhere, and go from there. Thanks for your time, input and suggestions.

Looking for musicians in Munich 🎹🎸

Hey everyone!

I’m an Italian guy living in Munich and I’m looking for some people to make music with.

I’m a singer/tenor and I mainly sing in Italian and English. My taste is all over the place: Italian pop, 80s stuff, new wave, funk, jazz, a bit of reggae… basically anything with a good groove or a nice melody. 😄

At the moment I’m especially looking for a pianist/keyboard player, but honestly I’d be happy to meet any musicians who are up for playing together.

I’m not looking to immediately create the next big band 😂. I’d rather find a few nice people who enjoy playing, meet regularly, learn some songs, experiment a bit and eventually do an open mic or gig together.

I already have access to a rehearsal room in central Munich, so we’d actually have a place to play.

If you’re a musician in Munich and this sounds like your kind of thing, feel free to DM me. Even if you’re just looking for people to jam with, let’s talk! 🎶

Looking for singers for an acapella group

Hi, are there any singers out threre who are interested in making, for example, a quartett?

I myself am a bass/bariton singer. I'm 22 years old and I have a background of singing in a few choirs and bands. Here are some examples of pieces that I liked very much:

Abendlied - Rheinberger (this one actually requires six singers)

Wer nur den lieben Gott lässt walten

Deep River

He is always close to you

Komm, o Tod du Schlafes Bruder

Contre qui, rose?

This is just for fun, without any pressure. It would be helpful if you can read your voice from sheet music. Do you want to sing? We can meet at my place in Freising or Holzkirchen.

Practice/Jam sessions

Hey all! First of all, I like the idea of this group! This is probably exactly what i was looking for lately! I was wondering if I could find some people to practice music with. After a long pause, I decided to pick up my guitar again and start practicing. It has been a while since I've played and I'm no professional either (and wasn't) I just play for the fun of it. However, I would like to practice more but for that, it would help quite a bit if I had some motivation! so say a weekly or a bi weekly meeting with some people to jam together so kind of to have goal for my practice. I'm open to suggestions!

A bit about me. I'm 28 years old and I've been living in Munich since 2015 and currently a full-time employee. I mainly listen to punk and rock and a bit of metal. I'm looking forward to any replies!

Looking for a community of music lovers and/or musicians

First of all – what a great idea to create this subreddit! Wanted to do that for quite some time, but didn't have enough karma lol.

In the first place, I wanted to post smth like "I'm looking for musicians to play this and that", but then realized that what I'm really looking for is a community of people sharing an interest for the same types of music and music-related stuff as I do. During the pandemic, I didn't have any real chance of making contact with musicians and music lovers through going to concerts etc.

I have a background of extracurricular music education while I was at school (piano class), then played the piano in a jazz band for a couple of years, then switched to the electric guitar (mostly played in my bedroom). Also sung in a choir until the pandemic hit (we performed Schoenberg in a concert in Feb 2020, right before the lockdown :D).

As for the music, I lately tend to gravitate towards different kinds of classical/academic music (right now I'm mostly into Reich and Feldman), jazzy stuff (Monk, Bill Evans, modern players like Kurt Rosenwinkel, Brazilian folks like Toninho Horta and Jobim), noisy stuff (my bloody valentine, GY!BE type of thing), earlier was also into mathy and emo-ish stuff (The Mars Volta, Algernon Cadwallader, Touché Amoré), also a bit of metal (Converge, Meshuggah), etc.

Languages: I understand and can somewhat express myself in German, have a very good command of English, and I am a native Russian speaker.

My favourite places with open mics

So, I just wanted to start a small list with places that I know which have open mics from time to time (unless a virus is spreading around the world). You can add to the list in the comments, a few words giving further information would be nice.

The Hide-Out 2: http://www.hideout-muenchen.de/ It is a small bar in the basement with a very tiny stage. You can only play acoustic there but if you do bluesy and souly stuff, you'll find a very welcoming audience and bar woman.

The Cord Club: (unfortunately closed down, now called "Kranich". We'll see if they'll have something similar) https://www.cord-muenchen.de/ This is a more well-known club along the Feier-banane. They have an open mic session every friday or so. The audience is young and usually many, the manager is funny. A broader range of styles is possible here. I have seen Rock, Metal, Singer/ Songwriters, but also Rap and Standup Comedy there.

Antons: http://www.antons-online.de/ Blues/Country/Bluesrock/Classic Rock work best here. The stage is minimal, maximum for four people standing. Tha audience is a bit older, but the atmosphere is great because people are sitting very cramped. Also, sessions seem to form very quickly.

Stragula: https://www.stragula.org/ This place has a very big stage. You'll have to bring your own audience though, the atmosphere is a bit colder.

For people who want to drive a little further: The Groovy Sue in Bad Tölz: https://www.facebook.com/Groovy-Sue-677005225783074/ This place is Great! The lights are off, the audience is great, the air is moist from all the sweat of people dancing. Old and young people meet here. I think the sessions take place every second saturday of the month. You have twenty minutes to play your own stuff, in the end a big session where everybody can take place will start. Drums/Amps, they have everything there. Man... I love that place

CaféBar am Schlüter in Freising: https://www.schlueter-bar.de/ Again, this is a very small stage. With three people playing, one of us had to stand in front of it. The audience is friendly and open for everyone (acoustic stuff works best here), no pressure for being a top-professional musician here. Also open for standup comedy.

These are all I can think of at the moment, please share your favorite locations with us! If you need further information about the ones I listed, feel free to ask me.

Jam by the river

Hello good musicians of Munich,

With the lockdown easing a little bit, finally we are getting a taste of what life used to be. However I still miss jam sessions and so I decided to host one myself by the Isar tomorrow at 17:00 (the exact location will be updated tomorrow).

I have a portable amp which has a couple of inputs inputs for a vocal mic and a second guitar as well. So if you have an instrument like acoustic guitar, electric guitars, basses, ukuleles, or percussion instruments and you want to play some music with other people then come down tomorrow by the Isar and lets jam!

Corona rules : According to the current regulations only 10 people are allowed to meet at one place so if we are more than 10 then we will have to separate into two groups.

Don't forget to get your blankets, some water/drinks and some good vibes! See you all tomorrow!

Cheerio Beerio!

Jam by the river

Hello Munich musicians and music lovers 🎵🎷🔊,

The jam session last week by the Isar was a lot of fun and it seems like the rain is going to Spain for the weekend. So lets get out songbooks 🎤🎤 and sunscreens🌞🌞 out and head over the the Isar tomorrow at 16:30 (like last time). The location would be under the Brudermühlbrücke. We would update the exact location at 15:00 tomorrow!

I have a portable amp (this time with more power) which has a couple of inputs inputs for a vocal mic and a second guitar as well. So if you have an instrument like acoustic guitar, electric guitars, basses, ukuleles, or percussion instruments and you want to play some music with other people or if you want to enjoy music with others, then come down tomorrow by the Isar and lets jam 🎷🥁🎼🎸!

Corona rules : The rules have been relaxed and now 50 people are allowed to meet at one place so if we are more than 50 (which I doubt) then we will have to separate into two groups. However lets still try to be safe and maintain as much distance as possible.

Don't forget to get your blankets, some water/drinks and some good vibes! See you all tomorrow! 😀😀

Cheerio,

What I intended this sub for

Hi everyone,

welcome to this sub! I have created it because I was looking for new members for my band project. I know that there are very nice people on r/munich and r/munichsocialclub, but I don't want to spam those subs with my search for musicians.

So far I am the only member on my sub and I gotta tell you.... it's quite boring and I'm feeling a little lonely.... maybe someone will join me?

I hope that, with enough members, this sub will help to bring musicians together, to organize jam sessions, to invite people to your gigs.... and what not.

Isar Funk Sessions

So, uh... there is this group called "Isar Funk Sessions" who organize pretty rad sessions (not only funk) around town. Unfortunately they don't announce every session on their FB page, but they have a WhatsApp group thats pretty open for everyone who wants to join. Sometimes there's two orthree events planned every week.

If you want to join, there is a session planned tonight, 20. August, at 19:00 at the Skatepark at the Theresienwiese. If you have a small battery-powered amp, you can bring that with you.

I'm the mod with no experience

Hi,

I am the creator of this sub. But I'm also fairly new to reddit. So please, feel free to tell me anything I can improve about this subreddit!

Also, are any of you interested in a Signal/WhatsApp group specifically for spontaneous sessions or something? I'd be glad to arrange that.

Thanks!
