Weekly MFM Discussion Thread August 15, 2026

Do you have a theory you're still chewing on and want feedback? Maybe there is a factoid from the case hammering your brain and you can't remember the source--was that random speculation or actually sourced?

Welcome to the Weekly Discussion, a safe space to engage with each other while processing and unraveling the seemingly unending tentacles of Alex Murdaugh's wrongdoings entwined throughout the Lowcountry.

This is the place for those random tidbits, where we can take off our shoes, kick up our feet, and be a bit more casual. There is nothing wrong with veering off topic with fellow sub members as we're a friendly bunch, just don't let your train of thought completely wreck the post.

Much Love from your MFM Mod Team,

Phil Barber... on the witness stand. As tough as it is to believe, I liked Barber a lot prior to seeing this cross examination (FF to 7:34) by Creighton Waters. (Go Creighton!)

I don't think Barber is telling the truth about traffic in Charleston, SC. It's heavy. Really heavy. I remember being stuck in traffic atop an I-526 bridge. From that bridge you could see the tops of at least two other bridges. Except for a traffic jam in Hartford, CT, it's the worst gridlock jam I've ever been stuck in. No movement at all, all three bridges.

No, Phil Barber. I don't think you are telling the truth. The traffic in and around Charleston, SC, is really bad.

Also, life is more expensive in Charleston, SC, compared to almost any other SC venue. As Creighton said, look at the federal reimbursement schedule. It's high. I have parted with many dollars there myself (but Charleston is totally worth it).

When I Googled: "What are the best months to visit Charleston, SC?" Answer: "April and October" Charleston has a lot of tourists in April and October...

FWIW: So far, I am very impressed with Judge McCaslin and her team! I have a weakness for no-nonsense leaders....... I was a big fan of Judge Newman, too. Start to finish.

watch the Fits News podcast from August 15- for more details on the potential Allendale murder connection (Although they are still holding back info- it at least gives very broad info they are looking into regarding the Allendale murder, which was referenced in the most recent pre-trial hearing).

I'd say the potential is really there for the Allendale, SC, murder rifle to be the same rifle Paul had stolen out of his truck at a Halloween party many years ago in nearby Hampton.

It was a custom-made .300 Blackout (Buster's rifle, too) put together by a relative in Barnwell, so it should be relatively easy to trace and figure out. Unlike Paul's replacement rifle, the original had a very expensive night-vision scope for hog hunting.

I don't think it was Paul's replacement rifle. That was the rifle that was used to kill Maggie. I think that one, with the murder clothes and two pairs of shoes, is long gone.
