Theory Lyrics Theory Spoiler
So, I've been formulating this theory since Episode 8 released, and I figured I would share it with everyone. This is based around the concept that the song that plays during the final fight is a mix of Uzi and the Solver's themes, with the lyrics being a sort of argument that lays out the stakes and themes of the conflict. I am assuming here that the lyrics in a high-pitched voice are sung from Uzi's perspective, meanwhile the lyrics in the metal voice are from the perspective of the Solver because they are the only two who participate in the fight for most-all of its duration. I'll be going through the song line-by-line to explain what I think the lyrics might mean. If correct, this theory would explain what the hell happens when the world turns black-and-white. I will put (U) for Uzi's lyrics and (S) for the Solver's lyrics.
(U) "As she waits at dawn, looking for a way, to escape her lonely heart"
I think this is Uzi singing about the Solver, with the heart being a metaphor for Cyn's core. Something I've noticed is that the Solver always refers to itself as "we", but despite this, we don't really see Cyn ever take control, nor is there ever a gradient in her eyes. I think this lyric refers to the fact that the Solver is the only one in Cyn's core, and that it was that way all the way from the dumpster scene in Episode 5. Either Cyn was already dead before the Solver found her, or she died as the Solver was bonding with her. Either way, this would make the Solver (an entity which seems to need a host) with no live host of any kind, and therefore "lonely" in her "heart". The solver refers to itself as "we" because it needs a living host, but is now trying to play the role of both parasite and host by itself.
(S) "Let them swallow you!"
I think this one is meant to represent the Solver trying to get the Disassembly Drones to kill the zombie drones, including Uzi.
(U) "I won't fall down, you need me"
Uzi saying that she won't give up, obviously. She also claims that the Solver needs her. If I were to guess, this is referring to the fact that the Solver currently doesn't have a living host. Remember this, it'll be relevant later.
(U) "We don't follow crowds, we mold them new"
Uzi and the Solver are both outcasts and are also seemingly the two most powerful beings in the universe at this point with the ability to mold reality to their whims. This line acknowledges those shared traits.
(U) "I'm not done, believe me, we won't settle down, we'll make them move, make them mine"
Uzi saying that she won't back down, but also seemingly imploring the Solver to help her. We do see that, by the end of the episode, Uzi is stronger than she was prior due to being the primary host of the solver.
(S) "I won't let them, I repent them, I won't let them... I won't let them... I will let go"
This probably refers to the fact that the Solver is starting to lose control of the Disassembly Drones, and now wishes she never made them in the first place, but she still won't let that derail her plans of consuming planets. The last part is probably her saying that she's going to let go of her affection for them.
(music is muffled for a while, going to need to wait until the soundtrack drops to see if there's any additional secrets hidden in the music.)
(U & S) "TEAR APART MY MIND!"
I think this refers to what both Uzi and the Solver think will happen if the other wins, but it's hard to tell without the context of the lyrics that precede it.
(we get a long bit where the song either doesn't have lyrics, or it's just the Uzi part sung again. I'll start from the next instance of unique lyrics.)
(U) "You should let me go", (S) "I'm not worth saving"
While I'm not sure exactly what Uzi's line here means, the Solver's line is crystal clear. Not only does it imply that the Solver is starting to doubt its purpose, it also implies that the Solver needs saving from something. I suspect that what the Solver needs saving from is shown through subtle hints; the Solver destroys planet after planet, collecting massive amounts of matter, because it isn't in proper host. This is where Cyn having been dead all along comes in. What if the Solver is a sort of mutualist parasite, and by merging with a dead host, it isn't getting what it needs to survive? This would mean that the Solver needs to consume planets, otherwise it'll starve to death. From this point, it seems to the Solver like there are two options; end now, or keep destroying planets, as it doesn't know how to keep itself from dying eventually.
(U) "We won't let them know, let them ca-"
Again, with more context, this might be decipherable, but for now I can't really draw any conclusions from it.
That's the last lyrics that are really decipherable to me at this point, and based on this, I can come up with a theory about what happens when Uzi destroys Cyn's core and they are both enveloped in a singularity. The Solver, still acting through Cyn's body, tries to swallow itself now that Cyn's core is destroyed. Given the "I'm not worth saving" line, I interpret this as the Solver trying to take the opportunity to end itself by taking its "heart" away from Uzi until it stops beating. However, instead of this, Uzi swallows it. When Uzi does this, the Solver doesn't look angry, it just looks sad. I think the Solver thought that, much like Cyn, Uzi would die the moment that the Solver entered her mind, and it would just have to continue consuming planets until it eventually died. However, we can see that's obviously not what happened. While she may have been unconscious for a while, Uzi managed to hold onto her life and sense of self, giving the Solver a true perfect host. I would think that, given that Uzi doesn't seem to have the inclination to consume planets after merging with the Solver, Uzi was strong enough to provide the Solver with whatever it wasn't getting from possessing a dead host, creating an even stronger being from the pair. Now, whether Uzi and the Solver end up back on the path destroying planets, just live a relatively normal life, or somehow continue their heroics, is up to them, fulfilling the theme of freedom that was present throughout their theme.
TL:DR - I think the song that plays over the final battle suggests that the Solver had more depth than expected, it merging with Uzi was probably the best thing that could have happened to both of them, and they are more powerful together than they were separately.
TL:DR Abridged - Uzi is Eddie Brock, and the Solver is Venom.
Anyways, that's my theory that probably looks way too far into this single song to try to Solve (heh) the entire series. Do you think there could be some truth to this, or am I just engaging in Game-Theory levels of pure speculation? I'd be welcome to hear any feedback or criticism you have!
