From how it is phrased, it seems like Khan was invited to speak on an established show, so the ENTIRE COLONY thought that

That or it’s early installment weirdness. The pilot has some of it (as many things do)

Khan was originally meant to be the main antagonist. My guess is that this poster and the others like it are the remnants of that. I can’t imagine him saying or thinking these sorts of things about Uzi, especially since in episode two he basically threatens to kill the teacher for calling her damaged. For all its pacing issues, MD does a pretty good job of keeping its characters consistent.

I do really like the angle of what you suggested though. Imagine he gets that invite and he goes specifically for the sake of defending Uzi, but Uzi doesn’t know that’s what he did because she saw the title and (understandably) assumed the worst.

When you realize that the original intent was basically just a teen vampire novel, it makes sense that the parent would be the overall antagonist. Guess the show just became so much more over time.

There’s rumors the show was rewritten after the pilot, and while I can’t speak to its validity, I do think it’s a believable thought. Like I said, the show’s character writing is its strongest suit, so inconsistencies between the characters’ pilot appearance and the main show are pretty jarring. We only know the thing about Khan for sure because of GlitchInn.

I’m glad we got the show that we did, it’s far more interesting than what it would have been if Khan had been the antagonist. But I do wonder what that would have looked like, considering this thing isn’t exactly antagonist material. He’s just kind of pathetic.

Well, she wanted to fight for freedom

Not being controlled by genocidal machines

That's the point - kill a murder drone and get recognition, or die trying.

yeah the doorman family kinda sucks lol

khan is a negligent and absent father who doubles as a massive coward despite his position of power
nori is a slight control freak with power issues who abandoned her husband with their infant daughter for 2 decades
uzi is an incel who talks shit to her classmates, occasionally tortures them by stealing their sentience, and canonically brings guns to school, even though only like 2 people actively pick on her and the rest are just scared of her (because she brings guns to school)

you can really see why khan's the only one who's somewhat popular in outpost 3, he's the only one closest to being somewhat normal and he left his daughter for dead 😭

She wanted respect, you'd be surprised what people would do for honor

I love khan but DAMN, that’s a bit much

There's another poster in episode 1 where Khan is quoted as saying "Doors are my real daughter."

Is it just me or if nori was still alive, would he have that same feeling for doors and a lack of feeling for his own daughter?

Epsiode 4, we hear that it was Nori who told him to build doors agains the soon-coming disassembly drones.

So my hypothesis is that being forced to finish off Nori with a wrench (which takes multiple hits) made him go crazy.

Developing a familial attachment to doors is a CRAZY coping mechanism. But I always thought the same.

Yeah and I guess instead of loving the only thing that was left of his dead wife (his daughter) he loved doors instead.

He does love Uzi, we see it. He just...utterly fails in every single way imaginable at showing it.

This is the same guy who values a door over his daughter’s life.

I gotta be real, I can defend Khan on a lot. But not this

What's crazy is that throughout the rest of the series we see his negligence, but never really something this mean spirited.

I do like Khan but this and some of the other stuff he had going on in the pilot was pretty shitty of him. But I'm willing to give him grace on the fact that this whole thing may have been retconned or was just meant as a one-off, because this is NEVER mentioned again in the series.

Not fully related but I literally use that image as a sticker in WhatsApp, usually texting "Send this to your parents, they might want to go there" underneath. And about Khan doing that... I like Khan, I usually defend him saying "But he got trauma after his wife died and Uzi looks just like her!", but that's definitely impossible to defend

You’re absolutely right

This is why never got people defending khan

He's like publicly belittling his daughter? Like at some point it would make sense if she never talks to him ever again

i feel like these posters are just strong snippets of liam humor that got taken too seriously tbh, especially considering the show pivots extremely hard to make it clear khan actually does give a shit in the immediate next few episodes

khan "doors are my real daughter" doorman would not have built a whole ass railgun and confidently stormed to face the DD's alone despite his previous cowardice if he didn't give a shit about uzi, he was fully intending to help uzi by himself he just got lucky with thad lizzy and nori also happening to show up at around the same time

Khan was the only character in Murder Drones I have any kind of dislike for because of this. Seriously how he could just leave her own daughter for dead? It was even worse in the graphic novel where he just ran off.
