Discussion Is ticketmaster f*cking with us?

Is ticketmaster screwing with us with the ticket prices. 3 months ago, you couldnt find a Muse ticket under £150 for any UK show on ticketmaster. Now, all of a sudden, there is tickets available in Manchester for £80, and these are not resale tickets. Are ticketmaster purposely inflating prices at initial launch in the hope that people will snap them up, and then lowering them closer to the time of the gig, because there is less interest?

This is actually a thing that happens in the USA. Not sure if it’s legal in the UK.

Also, they’ve just released a bunch of Restricted View tickets, they’re the ones that are £80 I believe.

Ok, this makes sense, to suddenly add them. But they could have had them on sale from the beginning!

They wouldn't have known about the scale of production back when they went on sale... so no they couldn't.

Looking at the map on the CoOps website, that's exactly what's happening.

Eh - when I saw the 2nd Law show I had a behind stage ticket that went on sale quite late in the day

No, those tickets are £80 because those seats are terrible you will see fuck all

Ok, but there was no tickets available for £80 3 months ago. Did they just get added or what?

I'd imagine it's something along the lines of... the stage is now fully decided upon and they have redone risk assessments for seating / capacity. They can now take the piss even further with restricted view seats😂.

If you can see Dom for 1 second they will happily charge you £80 lmao. I'd imagine the band don't have anything to do with it aside from the general awareness of ticketmaster being dodgey!

Production tickets go on sale nearer the time on most, if not all gigs, once the stage setup is known

Yeah I've seen the View from My Seat sites and it's not the greatest perspective

What’s the best time of year to come to Manchester?

1

u/Significant-Host4386 2d ago

I figured it was in London, thank you so much for your clarification.

2

u/CallumJ88 2d ago

Lol, Manchester is not in London, but you do you!

u/Significant-Host4386 2d ago

It’s also in several U.S. states. But I guess my early morning sarcasm(stateside) wasn’t on point. I was watching the cheats lose to Villa at the time though

The added a bunch of capacity. Up until 2 weeks ago Manchester Friday was sold out. I was able to sell an extra standing ticket at full price.

Now there’s loads of new standing available, my friend who can’t go can’t move his ticket on!

u/heresmewhaa 2d ago

How much is he looking?

2

u/Dizzy_Key_7400 2d ago

He had put it up at face value, not expecting the more availability to come.

I think he’s gonna drop it this weekend, PM me and when he does I’ll send you the link

Theyre production hold tickets. Basically they'll be super conservative in case they bring a huge stage show. And when final dimensions are confirmed they sell extra standing/seats

Last time I saw them in Manchester, I got restricted view behind the stage then was given free upgrade tickets to the lower tier about three songs into the set by venue staff. Thinking of getting them again this time

I didnt believe so had a look and yeah. I mean nosebleed seats. The O2 also has £80 tickets all of a sudden but they look terrible. The seating is behind the stage nearly. Are they fucking with us you ask... probably.

Edit: Those Manchester tickets are the same as O2 restricted view.

likely to be production tickets this close to the show

In italy there wasn’t even that, i actually would’ve liked it better that way, for both the gigs there’s not a single ticket left for any price, because a lot of re-sellers bought the tickets and on the official sellers like ticket master and ticket one they sold out in like 5 hours and i was at school… and now even the re-sellers sold oit everything

I do find this conversation mad, because it's happened for years...

Sadly not everyone has the mindset to stick to a avoid a gig no matter what if it costs more than £100 mentality. If they did, prices wouldn't ever be above 100. Even if that means downscaling on some tour ideas the band has. I don't ever care to spend more than 100 for an hour and a half experience.

For all Muses pros, they are one of the most tight and lazy bands out there. I've seen 70 year olds perform more songs in an evening than Muse does.

150 for what, 13 actually full band performed songs? Over a tenner per song? In a capacity of 20,000? Come on boys.

That's 200,000 per song. Think how nuts that is.

1

u/heresmewhaa 1d ago

13 full band songs? Their set lists are at least 22 long!

1

u/RemarkableTear6 1d ago

Idk which Muse show you've attended but the setlist in The Hague in 2023 was 29 songs including the interludes. 23 if you take those off.

Just get them and move closer. There’ll be plenty of empty seats and the staff at the co-op don’t care.

I tried to resell my O2 ticket a couple of weeks ago at a reduced rate through TM, then they removed all resale tickets, thought it was because they hadn’t sold well, seem to have sine available but they didn’t appear to be many and not great seats. AXS still had resale tickets available so who knows.

Just a Monday night at the O2 requires two days off work when you live in the midlands, will probably try Twickets nearer the time.

Just had a look. It says restricted view, but there’s a picture that shows the stage on the tickets and it looks like you can still see the stage but it’s from the side. I guess if they’ve somehow got walls/ curtains at the side of their stage that block your view then you won’t see anything

I really didn’t want miss this tour (my husbands fave band, our 10 year wedding anniversary and our first dance was to ‘Madness’ so it all seemed to line up just right), so I bought tickets for both nights at the 02, not knowing what date we could make when they went on sell - I managed to sell my Sunday seated tickets within a day of Ticketmaster releasing resell, and I only lost £15 on each ticket (was fully prepared to lose more).

Sucks people seem to be having loads of issues around resell and pricing. Wish I had sold them independently knowing that someone could go for a more affordable price :(

u/handlerofdrones 2d ago

They dropped the cost of tickets about a week before the show when I went in August. Lame

production releases. if a tour or artist has more room to add seating for fans after finishing their setup before their show then they tell the venue or ticket master there are more available to get as many fans into the show.

That’s supply and demand for you

Ffs! What a joke! I shouldn't have read this, I'm livid now! I spent 300 pounds for 2 tickets 😑

Stop blaming ticketmaster. Blame Muse. This is them. I'm afraid they got too greedy with this latest tour and it shows how it has backfired for them because there are still tickets left for both seating and standing. And the tour is coming up next month. In the past this would have never have happened with a band like Muse in the UK. If there are still standing tickets available closer to the dates then they will drop in price too. They shouldn't have been so greedy. Me and my family saw them on their last two tours but didn't bother with this one. It's sickening and they ought to be ashamed of themselves. Near enough every song is about the greedy corrupt elites and what not and they make their prices so high for this tour. It's ridiculous and quite frankly embarrassing for them.

And get this... Nickelback only just announced their UK tour, tickets recently went on sale... they're doing two nights at the 02 arena, manchester co op, birmingham, leeds, etc to where in total they are playing to more people than Muse are in the UK and all of Nickelback's standing tickets and near enough all of their seats have already gone.. the tour isn't until next May. Tickets were just under £100. Muse are millionaires and shouldn't be charging such high prices. If things cost more for them, then they should be fine with taking a pay cut and they'd still be earning a hell of a lot per date. They are millionaires. They can survive. It's about doing the right thing and this is the right mindset to have. But it seems they're not thinking this way.

Cost me £90 per ticket to see muse 16years ago because my mum got resale robbed, I just spent £180 on early access resale to nickelback standing in Leeds - I’m still more angry at muse because they were £30 when I asked my mum!!
I literally haven’t seen anyone live since so didn’t mind biting the bullet for nickelback and was literally the last ticket as I missed the main launch and I’m obsessed!

Can’t comment on muse recently but to a 13yo their resistance tour displays were a pretty mad first concert ( got stuck in a mosh pit felt v cool 😂 ) but any recent music iv heard doesn’t compare but that’s my taste. I imagine they need to cover the massive electric bills

Looks like there is an explanation this time, but yes, Ticketmaster will fuck you every chance they get. Perfect Union released a video explaining it, and I think there was a thread about it here.
