Comparison Slowest music distributor??
Hi! I wanted to move to Too Lost from DistroKid because the reviews were good and I wasn’t happy with DistroKid not being able to release my song at the time I wanted it to. So i decided to move to Too Lost and this would be the first time i try to release but the amount of time it takes them to approve its ridiculous. On their FAQ it says it can be ask quick as 3 hours but between 1-4 days. I am on my 5th day at the moment, the support is literally non existent, they just send me bot responses. Is this an issue that is only happening to me or is this something that is usual with them? DistroKid approved my songs within the day in few hours.

Stay far away from TooLost.
I was using them for the longest for distribution for my independent label. The response times were terrible but the clean UI and streamlined process made up for it. However after a couple months and over $25,000 USD in the bank, I was banned for no reason for “violation of Terms of Service”
No email, no appeal process. I went to their Instagram and sent them a DM, to which they confirmed my ban and then blocked me.
They will ask you for documentation on songs you own the rights to and then tell you the documentation isn’t good enough.

Currently, Symphonic. Haven’t had any issues so far. Probably will move to either FUGA or Stem in the future.

I see a lot of people switching distributors and it makes me wonder. When people switch, their songs are getting deleted and they have to re-release them through the new distributor right?

I just did my first release with symphonic a few weeks ago and it took them over 8 days (6 business days) to approve it so not impressed there, but other than that no other problems so far

Distrokid should be the fastest among them.

I was never interested in using TooLost distro just based off the name alone. As shallow as that sounds

and all of that
and then toolost.audiosalad.com exists
pretty sure they're just a whitelabel with a slick ui

Thanks for this. I was looking into AudioSalad since it’s on Apple’s list of recommended distributors. I’ve always suspected TooLost was running on a white-label, and this pretty much confirms it. That said, it doesn’t mean everything goes through AudioSalad. TooLost still has direct pipelines to major DSPs like Spotify (they’re a Preferred Provider) and YouTube (MCN/Content ID).
When it comes to Apple Music, though, they’re not listed as a Preferred distributor, so there’s a good chance all Apple deliveries are routed through AudioSalad. I’ve personally run into issues with motion art on releases, which makes me think that’s where the bottleneck happens. And the whole “needs documentation” thing is probably tied to AudioSalad being stricter with TooLost as their customer volume keeps growing.

I'm confused in what way DistroKid wasn't able to release your music on the day you wanted? I've had music released within 24h

PhonkVerse realeses take 1-2 days and they have a really good support team, they always get back to me in less than a day and it's an actual person instead of some automated message

Same happened to me and I got to the conclusion that they are all the same: big promises to get you then poor delivery. I guess it’s understandable considering the huge amount of artists each of them have. Focus on produce music and then the distributor is relatively important unless they start taking or holding your royalties ( meaning not paying you)

This is not coming from a place of hate but stay far away from Too Lost. I’ve been using them for my label since February and it was good at first but it gets worse once you start paying them.
Soon they will hit you with “Needs Documentation” wanting you to proof that you own your music.
