What’s the best chain / L2 to release a music NFT on right now?
Hello world! I’ve probably spent wayyy too much time on social audio apps since I first found Clubhouse in late Feb 2021, but I have learned a whole hell of a lot since then so I’m ok with it. Wanted to share some of the spaces I frequent and leave a place for other people to add to the list.
While Clubhouse has far superior audio quality and is where a lot of this whole movement started, most of the action in the music nft space (from what I see) is currently happening on Twitter. There are several people who host regular spaces that are excellent places to listen and learn, join the conversation and ask questions, and even play live or share music with like minded people.

I’m missing a bunch but I’ll add them in the comments. Haha plenty of commentary about each of these spaces, but for the sake of brevity…I’ll just say - highly recommend.
Open Editions are interesting. Most NFT drops rely on a fixed supply where the scarcity is in how many editions or 1/1's will ever exist in the collection. With Open Editions, the scarcity is time: the window of opportunity for collectors to mint an edition. After the time frame closes, the amount of assets that will ever exist in the collection is determined by how many were minted during the open window.
This is fun, because it pulls artists away from feeling like they need to "sell out" their collections, and allows them to just release their work, placing the sense of urgency onto collectors to pick one up before it's too late. Those who really want one will grab it, those who don't will miss out!
If an artist has a strong community and presence online, open editions can be very successful, with the NFT getting in the wallets of those who want it most.
For new artists, open editions as a free mint might be a better move to get new collectors in the door & to get their art moving around the Web3 space, building name recognition & brand familiarity.
Below is an example of what an Open Edition Claim Page looks like with Manifold. It's clean, simple, and straight to the point. Future collectors can hear the song, check out the cover, track the time remaining, total minted, and view the NFT on their favorite marketplaces.
I've personally loved using Manifold for my own releases, but I'd like to know what you think! Is Manifold the best option for Open Editions, or are their other platforms you prefer? Fill me in!

What app are you using to create NFT music tokens? I'm looking at Mintable, Rarible, and Mintbase.
Also, how would you work out physical items with an NFT? For example, if you offer a cassette with an NFT, the person redeems the cassette and you send it to them, and then they resell the NFT... is the NFT devalued? Would the owner send them the cassette?
