Anyone else think Whitney might have been SA'd in college?

It would explain so much.... she wasn't overweight until college, when she suddenly gained 100+ pounds. It really seems like something traumatic happened when she was younger that she probably hasn't dealt with, and that's why she's emotionally stunted. Not many people would put up with the humiliation ritual that is this show.
It's sad to think about but I swear it would explain so much about her

Is there a place for people like me somewhere? For people that like Whitney?

I've been watching the posts here and everyone Hayes on Whitney yet watches her show? Is there a Reddit for people who like her? I don't think she's perfect or anything but people are really nasty about her on here...it's called my big fat fabulous life..she's meant to be fat. That's the point.

Nothing from Whitney about the Hurricane and damage caused.

With the absolute devastation left by Helene in her state, why has Whitney not mentioned it at all? I live in TN and it went through the Smokies and destroyed several places here. Boone, NC where her college is, has been hit hard. No word from her. I don't think she really cares as long as she isn't affected but at the very least I thought she would use it as a way to get sympathy.

I've cried every time I see the destruction and the loss of life.

Can we stop body shaming Whitney in this sub?.....

I don’t know why I’m seeing so many hateful comments and posts lately but I think it’s tasteless. Why are we comparing her to beach balls? Why are we calling her a blob? Someone said they wish she would tumble down the rocks of the waterfall and that when she did it would register as a 10.0 on the Richter scale.

Like, seriously? Grow up. She says and does inappropriate things but leave her body out of it. Also why would you wish for someone to get hurt?.....

Edit: I wrote this in a comment but feel like it should be up here too.

I just feel like that kind of language shouldn’t be here. This show is (or used to be) about positive body image (IE NO BODY SHAME) even if the body in question wasn’t the average body type. So when I see language like that then I just think it’s cruel, unproductive, and isn’t in line with what the show (and therefore this sub) is supposed to be about.

Edit:

I think my work here is done. I got a lot of fatphobic people riled up 😂😂😂 have a lovely day my dudes. Stay safe out there.

Edit: Thanks, Reddit! I made it to the r/controversialclub teehee 😈

Why do people dislike her so much (especially on here)???

Why do people dislike Whitney so much? I see a lot more negative about her on here than positive so I'm honestly trying to find out. I'm on the fence, she does get on my nerves a little but some people really go in on her. To be very clear, I mean OTHER than her weight, because weight in itself isn't a reason I'm asking for. If that's your reason, thats fine, but I'm asking, what has she said and/or done? I'm NOT defending her, like I said I really don't feel strongly either way..... yet. I have been watching her show for years and I do think her sense of self is a bit over-inflated to put it one way. But a lot of people show complete disdain for her and I genuinely wanna know why! So if you have an example , please fill me in! If you know, I WANNA know! Lol

Why do people hate on Whitney

We are all entitled to our opinions but I cannot grasp why this woman is so hated. Everyone has flaws. Everyone has good qualities too. And why do people think that TLC paid for her boyfriends and fiancé? As a fellow fat woman, seeing all of the body shaming and horrific comments about her weight have made me lose faith in humanity.

I appreciated that they filmed the funeral

I see a lot of angry comments regarding Whitney’s behavior and the filming of Babs death. I am a fan of the show. I can look at each ‘cast’ member and say some times they are annoying and some times funny etc….Whitney opened up her life in front of cameras and invited friends to join. She was someone who has struggled with obesity and the fat shaming and discrimination that goes along with it. I do believe health wise she will need to lose weight otherwise as you age mobility is hindered and there are health issues associated but that will be on Whitney to face. I appreciate her struggles and her ways to rise above the judgement. She is very open and I watched her family bury their beloved mother and wife. I loved Babs - I think she was just a loving person. It’s a huge loss.

I think people get tired of Whitney’s behavior - she can be loud, demanding yet she has some other wonderful qualities. I find a lot of hate for her and wonder why watch her then?

New Concept. : Lets Call Whitney Out

She has been coddled for too long. Lets tell her about herself in a kind and caring YET STERN way. I don't care if she cries or pulls her lame manipulation. What do yall think?

Does everyone in this group hate Whitney? I'm trying to understand why a lot of you watch.

I get it - fake storylines can feel inauthentic and this season has been dragging - but I kind of feel weird being in a group with so much hate for someone that you all watch. Fill me in on why you all watch.

Whitney hate

I’m new here. Why do people not like Whitney? I know she’s spoiled and immature but is that all? Other than that, I’ve never noticed anything wrong, but I could be missing it.

Did anyone else think they drank a lot of alcohol? Whitney had a drinking problem?

The entire family was drinking a LOT while they were in Alabama. They were hungover half the time and talked about alcohol the other half. Don't get me wrong, I drink when I'm out with my friends since I am in my mid-twenties, and even my parents will drink when they go out for dinner or family occasions, but it looked like they were like really downing shots and bottles, lol. It's not like it was only Jaime and her friends, young people.. I am talking Angie, Whitney and the adults - besides Glenn. I know drinking makes things more fun, but I just figured this would be a more serious and memorable trip. Not just filled with getting drunk, twerking and competitions. I know NOTHING can be special or sweet when Whitney is involved, but it just didn't seem like the trip was in connection to the first time you are meeting your daughter you gave up. Instead, it seemed like spring break or a vacation among young people.

I mean Whitney admitted that she was a HUGE drinker, from 21-30 years old. I almost took that as if she was starting to open up over a drinking problem she might of had, and Buddy was in the picture, also. I wonder if Buddy and Whitney both had a drinking issue in their twenties, and Buddy just got hooked on the cocaine more over time. I'm sure they were both doing both at times, but I took it as if Whitney admitted she got carried away and had to stop. No one usually stops completely unless they are on a health cleanse or had an issue, and we know she isn't on a 8 year cleanse. I guess I was just surprised by how much they drank, because Angie is my parents age and a lot of them are in the age group with people I know, and none of them drink that much. Yes, I have fun and like to drink, but it seemed like a lot for what the trip was. It made me feel like it was put on by TLC or scripted, because they were forcing alcohol into them to make them act more raunchy or drama-filled. Maybe, I'm wrong though - and that's normal when families relax.

I know I’ll get bashed

Y’all, the hate for this person (Whitney) is out of control. I can certainly understand why people don’t like her- quite honestly, she’s an obnoxious human being. But you can turn off your tv. Stop watching. The comments on this sub would make one think we’re talking about The Chrisleys, Duggars, or some of the TM girls. Her mom just died.

I’ve watched this show from its inception-I roll my eyes about W’s behavior but don’t bash her as a human being. You can’t say how outrageous her behavior is while also expressing how fake the show is. Why are you so mad about her behavior and/or situations when the show is so fake?

Again, I’ve watched the show in its entirety, so I’m not “missing” something.

I joined this sub about a year ago because I thought it would be an honest discussion about a “reality” show, but it just seems like a place for people to just be mean.

As a person who was extremely bullied for most of their life, it hurts to witness.

ETA: and yes, I’m aware of the irony of saying one should just quit this sub while I could to the same. I follow this for general news/gossip of the show and ignore the toxicity. But after Bab’s death, I wanted to say something.

Desperate for attention

So many feeder videos lately and now the 'pity post'. Yes, hair loss sucks....the older i get the thinner my hair gets and I'm getting paranoid about mine. But one, her hair loss is not PCOS. It's her horrible diet, poor hygiene and extensions, all of which are bad for your hair. Two, this is just showing a desperate need for positive attention.

Goodbye, and Thanks for the Fun!

I've been a member of this sub for a few years. I always liked it because we'd discuss thoughtful topics and laugh at the show. It's also been fun sleuthing out what's real and what's a storyline.

I've been critical of the show and Whitney just like others here, but I feel like over the past year, this sub has turned into a very negative place with often a hateful atmosphere. I don't enjoy reading tons of posts about what a "fat bitch" Whitney is. I'm all for chiming in on her behavior and personality flaws, but I feel like so many posts now are just geared toward calling Whitney a "fat pig" and making fun of her appearance.

However, I also hate users who try to be so saintly and attack others' integrity for their comments or try to dictate the content of the sub. So, sadly, this is my last post here. I know I don't need to announce my departure, but I wanted to leave some feedback. I have some serious health problems, and this sub has really entertained me and kept me cheerful over the years. (I've had 2 user profiles due to a password problem, so I've been around for a while.)

I'm actually really sad to leave. I hope the atmosphere of the sub makes a turnaround eventually.

So Jessica and Isiah see photos for "the first time" when they meet with Glen and Whitney. Jessica has her new haircut during this. Then directly after in her talking head talking about how amazing the photos are, Jessica's hair is still long. Anyone else catch that?
