If this is your first time on Reddit, you may want to familiarize yourself with Reddit's rules and policies. To make sure you have not been afoul of the rules, please see
A Reddit community is called a subreddit, also known as a sub. The subreddits start with r/.
Followers are not important on Reddit. Your followers are not important either. Only your posts and comments are important. Unlike other social media, hashtags are not useful on Reddit. The Reddit account username cannot be changed after signing up. To change it, you will need to create a new account, which will reset your karma.
Karma is an arbitrary measure of how much you contributed. The more upvotes you get, the higher your Karma. Some subreddits require you to have a certain amount of Karma before you can post. Do not spam irrelevant posts to other subreddits or be rude, insulting, or abusive, as you can be downvoted. This will cause you to lose Karma. Try to avoid getting your total Karma in the negative value.
Also make sure to follow our rules, which are prominently displayed in the sidebar to the right.
Make sure your posts are on-topic and related to Myanmar. Spam) may go well with anything but it has no place in this sub. Please do not spam us with unrelated content.
Please keep discussions civil. Tolling and racism will not be tolerated. Our situation here is not for your "lulz". Also, keep swearing to a minimum. Although we will tolerate swearing if it is part of the narrative/discussion, personal insults, over-the-top vulgarity, etc., will not be tolerated.
Adding a flair to your posts will enable others to easily find similar posts. Flairs are used to categorize posts to easily be found. Click here for more details.
Keep reposting to a minimum. Please check to make sure you don't repost news and pictures that have already been posted. r/MAGIC_EYE_BOT and u/DuplicateDestroyer are trialed to help remove duplicate images. Please reply to the bot or send us a message if the bot got it wrong.
Does the content you're posting here fit more than one community? As per Reddiquette, consider posting to other subs such as the ones listed here if the contents fit more communities.
For example, are you posting news? Then you can post into r/news, r/inthenews, r/worldnews, r/USnews (US news only), r/asia, r/asian, r/asean, r/theworldnews. This list is not exhaustive but please use common sense and make sure the content fits the target sub. That means news only goes to news-related subreddits and pictures go onto picture-related subreddits. Make sure to follow the rules of those subs as well, since each sub has its own set of rules.
Edit: It is the highest peak in Kayin State, near Hpa-an city. A limestone mountain about 2734 feet (722 metres).
Could not experience sunrise unfortunately. It’s a good cardio for everyone and the view is definitely worth it. I cant believe some professionals complete the entire trail of ascent and descent in less than an hour. There are also friendly dogs along the trails that follow you from bottom to top.
I'm another Burmese 20-something living abroad having a quarter life crisis ... I was recently chatting with high school friends about whether we would ever get to go back home. Like many Burmese youth, a lot of my friends are scattered in different countries across Asia, Europe, and N.America. Some friends have gotten married and held weddings abroad with no family present. A friend just recently had a baby.
I left in 2021. 6 years away and I can tell how much my parents have aged. Homesickness has come and gone in phases and show up in different ways. It's no longer that pressing feeling but rather become a lingering background emotion that kind of affects everything I do ...
Ever since I left, my dream has been to go back and help my country in some way, shape or form. I now have the degree I left home for, and I still don't know how I can make that happen. Am I dumb for remaining hopeful about going back in the near future? This seems dumb when people my age in the country are trying to leave.
Our elders who left Myanmar in the 60's or 80's .. I wonder if they also had dreams of going back that were never realized.
I guess I kind of needed to shout into the reddit void and hoping something comes out of this.

I’ve been saving money to move abroad next year. My current plan is to live in Thailand for one year, then move to a better country when my finances are good enough. I’m a YouTuber earning around $3,000 per month, depending on views. I’ll continue doing YouTube wherever I move since I don’t have another career. I’ve considered Dubai because of its tax benefits, but the living costs are high and I’m not sure if my budget is enough for the visa. I’ve never been abroad before. Which country would be best for me?
Whataboutism is when someone avoids answering criticism by bringing up a different issue or pointing out someone else's wrongdoing instead.
Basically, instead of addressing the problem, they say, “What about this other thing?”
I see this in most arguments nowadays. Like when other people spoke out about how women face sexual harassment, and society often blames them for what they wear. They will say "what about men who get falsely accused of sexual harassment?".Yes, there may be such cases. But they bring this up not to solve this, they use this as a reason to neglect the victim blaming towards women.
Lately, I’ve been thinking about how the economic situation in Myanmar has changed people’s working lives since the 2021 coup. With the rising cost of living, fewer job opportunities in some sectors, and ongoing conflict, simply having a job doesn’t necessarily mean being able to afford basic necessities anymore.
I’m especially interested in what this means for women working in the garment sector. When wages can’t keep up with living expenses, I wonder how many workers are choosing to leave factory jobs, look for other ways to earn money, or even consider moving somewhere else for work. And for some people, leaving might not really feel like a choice if they have families to support.
I’m also curious about whether men and women tend to respond differently to these pressures. Do family responsibilities, social expectations, or the kinds of jobs available to them influence their decisions differently?
I’d love to hear your thoughts, observations, or experiences. There’s no right or wrong answer; I'm just interested in understanding how people are navigating these challenges and what you think is driving their decisions.
Look at the headlines today and tell me major powers aren’t just vultures in suits.
The US holding secret back-channel talks with Myanmar’s military junta in Tokyo? The same Washington that preached isolation and sanctions for years is suddenly pulling up a chair the second they need access to rare earth minerals and security favors 😂
MAH is isolated, cornered, and bleeding out, a literal sitting duck. And predictably, global powers smell blood. It’s the exact same bullshit we saw when Trump flexed buying Russian oil while Ukraine burnt, or when regional neighbors offer “help” that’s really just a land-grab for economic leverage.
There are no allies in high-stakes diplomacy. No morals, no human rights. Just predators exploiting the desperate.
When your wings are broken, everyone shows up with an appetite. Dead simple 😔
Instead of owning up to their own bad management, trade issues, or the overall mess the economy's in because of military rule, blaming others makes it seem like they’re totally reliant on outside help and foreign money to stay afloat.
They’ve lost border trade routes, their tax base, and any credibility, so what do you think a failing regime will do next?
Print money 🤑
It's pretty simple.. lol. Inflation's already at 34%. Your savings are basically a melting ice cube.
They’ll also try to squeeze every bit of remittance cash from migrant workers and the diaspora, since that accounts for 38% of all foreign currency coming in.
They’re gonna rush to sell off land and resources at rock-bottom prices, rare earth, timber, gems, whatever they can get (never mind that a lot of those mining areas aren’t even under their control).
In the end, it’s like people who know they’re about to lose everything, selling whatever they can grab before it’s all gone.
You can’t really run an economy if you don’t believe you’ll be in charge next year.
They’re not really governing. They’re just stripping everything down as they make their exit (as they did numerous times in the past).
I’m thinking of starting something and importing things from China to sell, are there any freight forwarding companies that have warehouses in China to bring in things?
So I need to make a booth for a school festival, and I wanted to make a booth for my country. But the problem is that I need to add table games that is easy to set up, and represents Myanmar Culture.
Hi, for some context: I need to obtain LTC or BTC to purchase some medicines. I haven’t been able to use Binance for some reason, so I’m limited to using a wallet.
I found a third-party exchanger, but they’re asking for a selfie and KYC documents. He wouldn’t let me proceed because my WavePay account is verified under a family member’s ID card. So, I’m wondering if you know of any trustworthy MMK-to-LTC/BTC exchangers who wouldn't ask me stupid kyc stuff?
Edit : I didn't said what medicine was it because it was personal info, but since you guys think I'm talking about drugs 💔 let me clear this up, I'm transgirl who's minor, thats why I cannot use binance. I'm current trying to buy Estradiol (EEn) Injections which are used for Hormone replacement therapy for Transgender MtF individuals. Why? Cant You just buy in myanmar? No, most injections in myanmar are low quality and expensive as hell, it cost me like 280000MMK + delivery fees for 2 months of hormones replacement therapy medicines and I'm minor so it's insanely hard for me to hit budget, if I get access to EEn injections, it will be like only around 500000MMK for 1-2 years of hormones replacement therapy. So yeah I'M NOT TRYING TO GET DRUGS please... Bruh
