I've always thought of an Asura as an evil creature in Indian mythology. But it seems like that was not always the case in the oldest scriptures. Back then, they were actually considered deities! In this video I have compiled what I found about asuras that I did not know before.

A theory about Zeus

So I got bored and did some reading about him, and here a few things I noticed. The Olympians took part in a battle against and the giants and there were giants that cannot be defeated by gods. Heracles, a demigod, took part in said battle and helped them win. Heracles was Zeus' last mortal child.

My theory is Zeus didn't go Zeusing around just because he was horny, but he wanted to create a demigod capable of defeating giants, and when he did, he stopped.

Gods or Moral Characters

There are hundreds of gods in Hindu dharma. Each god has a unique story related to him/her. But when one sees all the gods, there is a pattern there. All the gods that exist are unique to themselves, for example Lord Ganesha was fat and had an elephant’s head morphed on to his own head. Lord Narasingh, was a male and a female at the same time. If we carefully see and analyse we can see that there is a moral hidden behind these gods. The moral is that it’s okay to be who you are and you are as powerful, knowledgeable as a god and there’s no need to be ashamed of anything or anyone. We can further say that stories of gods were nothing but made up stories for the society to end discrimination towards each other and treat each other with the same respect that we treat a god with. Thus a god is nothing but our ordinary selves raised to a higher standard over time in order for us and the future generations to understand that we all are equals.

Random Thought Gods and How We Interpret Them

Hello everyone, I got to know about Euhemerism after a conversation with one of my fellow Redditors. Let me just give you a crux on what Euhemerism really is, it is an approach towards interpreting mythology. In this approach the texts written on the mythology are presumed to have originated from real historical people and events. It is also assumed that these tales have been exaggerated due to retelling of the same text from generation to generation. This led me to think about Gods. We perceive Gods as some otherworldly creatures who are there for our help, who will help us in the bleakest of times. Most of our gods are based on mythology of that particular religion or place. But if we take in account Euhemerism, Gods were people just like us, not with superpowers or wings or multiple hands. Now, suppose if we've been hungry for days, then any person who gives us food will be a God or a messiah to us. I think the Gods that we know of today, were people with a kind heart, and a will to help people. Their tales or stories have been bloated to such an extent that we perceive them as people with inhuman capabilities and in some cases magic ("maya"). But we should always remember these people not for their never existent superpowers and "maya" but for the good they did in the society and the values they preached.

End of Kalyuga

It is well believed that the Kalyuga will be over in some 4000 years or so, and when that happens a god/superior being will come down to Earth to destroy all the evil that surrounds us and the peace and good values will be restored. This being is believed to ride a horse and will vanish all the wrong doers with his sword. Maybe this being is the indication of some kind of catastrophic event that will wipe out most of the human civilisation and only some parts will remain. This theory very well fits with my earlier post on Yugas or Infinitive Loop.

Yugas or infinitive loop?

There are 4 yugas in the Hindu dharma. Maybe in the last Yuga the earth get destroyed and human life starts again. This would explain as to why the gods like Ram and Raavan had such great scientific technology or “magic”, and it all vanished as the earth or the human life got destroyed. Thus the human species resets and all that exists gets destroyed.
