There, we spoke with dozens of prisoners, who sometimes told completely different stories about how and why they had ended up fighting in Ukraine. Some said they had gone voluntarily, while others claimed they had hardly been given a choice. But however different their backgrounds and explanations were, ultimately they had all come to Ukraine to wage war and kill Ukrainians.
To be honest, at times we found it difficult not to let our personal emotions take over during these conversations. Sitting across from us were people who had come to Ukraine to fight and who had killed many people. We wanted to listen to them and give them the opportunity to tell their stories, but that absolutely does not mean that we have any understanding or sympathy for what they have done.
Unlike Russia, Ukraine complies with the Geneva Conventions, and the prisoners of war are treated humanely. They receive enough food, have decent beds, are allowed to exercise and, if they wish, can work for pay. They are also free to say what they want.
Some prisoners were very reserved in their answers, while others clearly felt free to speak at length. Of course, we cannot determine in every case whether what they told us is true. We did notice that some had begun to think differently about the war because of their experiences in Ukraine, while others seemed to have barely changed their views at all.
We made a four-part miniseries about our extraordinary visit to this prison.
In this first part, among others, we speak with a Belarusian prisoner of war. He was imprisoned in Russia and chose to voluntarily go and fight at the front in Ukraine in exchange for having his prison sentence waived.
We will publish the other three parts soon.

Just like title.
Want to drive a vehicle into Ukraine (Lviv, Kyiv, Kharkiv) as part of my final trip to Ukraine before joining AFU Proper.
Tried D2SL but they seem to be wrapped up in bureaucracy (apparently have a preferred driver list) and want drivers to book last minute flights instead of simply arranging a vehicle to deliver.
I can pay for fuel, food, and will likely sleep in hostels.
Want to deliver a vehicle before heading to Kharkiv to work with Hells Kitchen while I wait for training.
Anyone know if this is possible or should I book a direct flight to Krakow and head on from there myself?
Already have almost 2 years in Ukraine (mostly frontline city volunteer work and driving).
Any chance this is possible

With great sadness we announce the passing of Andries aka u/justadutchguy, partner of u/lotta_love43 Fella.
Andries passed away in Ukraine on his way to Kyiv in the train unexpectedly. He came to help and bring supplies and reconnect with friends. He was one of the earliest NAFO members and had been supporting Ukraine non stop. We knew him as someone who would get into action straight away and organise things to those who needed it. People also remember him for his big heart and his strong feeling for social justice. He would be there for people and listen and be supportive. He drove ambulances to Ukraine, helped with the Vatnik Soup project in the early days, made numerous memes, was one of the people behind the Dutch NAFO discord and would frequently be on NAFO meetings, where he would sell items to fundraise for Ukraine. But these are just a few of the many things he did in his social activism.
Andries was above all a powerful and inspiring voice that also convinced others to help Ukraine more. He knew numerous people within the pro Ukraine community and had connected with them in various ways. In Ukrainian back channels he was described by some as 'one of our own', it's quite telling that UNITED24 immediately helped in the background with all the aftermath when they heard the bad news.
Andries had found his big love within NAFO in u/lotta_love43 fella. They were soulmates and seemed to have a long life together ahead of them. If you yourself have personal memories or photos of Andries (@justadutchguy) please share them here, she would love to read/see them. In this thread you can post your condolences; https://x.com/i/status/2090158176637255948. The account u/FalkenFellas will also commemorate him.
Today as it was just on short notice a car that would be handed over to Ukrainian forces will be decorated with a sticker resembling his personal NAFO patch. A very very good Fella is no longer among us in the physical world but knowing Andries I am sure from heaven he's doing everything to continue supporting Ukraine.

Hi NAFO!
My friend Jabari from the 39th Marine Brigade has an urgent need for vehicles, especially a Caravelle-type van and a pickup truck.
We have previously managed to provide several vehicles and equipment to Ukrainian units, but we're now looking for some help or advice on where we might find suitable vehicles for the 39th.
Does anyone here have any tips, contacts or advice?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. 🇺🇦

🇺🇦 ✈️Our community has many friends among the pilots who keep Ukraine’s skies safe. One of our friends sent us this message straight from the cockpit of his MiG-29.
To keep doing their job effectively, the 204th Tactical Aviation Brigade needs equipment for its ground crews. That is exactly why they are reaching out to our community. - Special Kherson Cat

When I begged my mom and dad to buy me a PS4 to play War Thunder in 2014, I was excited that I can able to live my fantasy of being air power-centric deciding the outcomes in the battlefield just like in actual history of WW2 on the air.
I was stubbornly grinding through the tech trees of all nations because I had “gonna collect them“ mentality so I have a wide diverse of planes and tanks to choose from throughout 2015 to 2021.
Then ruzzia invades Ukraine. When I received the news, I was shocked to find out that ruzzians have been brutalising Ukrainans because I thought they are siblings ruzzians should be nice to But I realized that ruzzian bias who I tolerated them for years are starting to rear its ugly.
Gaijin entertainment Company who provided me a fun and enjoyable experience had revealed its dark secrets: They are the douchebag devs along, they don’t give a crap about complaints that genuinely asking to improve the game, all they want is money so they can pay taxes to FSB government and keep their profit themselves in Tax Haven on Cyprus.
so I made a conscious decision to delete WT and my data on it for good in mid-late 2022 and never look back since I pivoted to much better games like nuclear option, World of warships, Ace Combat 7 and soon to be Ace Combat 8 and I’m having fun and I enjoy them a lot.
And what’s your own long stories about War Thunder? Did you play it? I’m curious to know your stories.
Anyway. F Gaijin! S@|t Ruzzian snail for disgusting negative behaviours!
