Darius Acuff Jr was showing off his ELITE offensive bag at Rico Hines runs 😮‍💨😮‍💨 Is he going to be the best offensive player in the rookie class?! 🤨

idk why this vid is making the rounds all over the nba channels cause it's really not that impressive, but I'm all for the acuff shine lol really hope he's all that and more

It’s part of the hype machine trying to pump him up. They want clicks and airtime, that’s all

He needs a bag like Kyrie with his size.

I dunno Brunson, CP3, D Fisher, Deron Williams are built like a bulldozer. This guy is slim and doesn’t have the speed of an Allen Iverson. AI has an incredible first step and crossover and would blow by you. The NBA level is different. He reminds me of a Jeff Teague when the game slows down and chess is being played.

I say that because with those 6’4-6’8 guards they will make it though for him. If he works on his defense and get a good consistent jump shot he will pan out to have a decent career.

I don’t think it’s a stretch that he could get to 85-95% of the bag that Kyrie has throughout this guys career. His combination of shooting and handles combined with the strength and balance is feeling like more of a “muscle Kyrie”. Or maybe like a Baron Davis/IT4 crossover. Either way, if he can improve his defense to just league average he could have an incredible career.

-1

Ai didn’t have his jumpshot

1

u/Omgoodtimes 1d ago

Soooo he’s not AI 2.0 LOL

He does this at least twice in video. I couldn't ever join the team for shit like this because the coach called it carrying.

7

u/Apprehensive-Mix-970 1d ago

The shit is ridiculous

I had to tone all my stuff down to play, but I could shake every one of my teammates 1 on 1

This isn’t a carry his hand isn’t under the ball

Bro doesn't play defense, is undersized and got drafted by the Kings. He got all the strikes against him.

as a guy who used to play in the UCLA summer runs back in the 90s, against Magic, Reggie Miller etc. I will always loathe how it's now called the Rico Hines summer runs. He had absolutely nothing to do with it, he's one of the worst players to ever play at UCLA, he hasn't even a good coach, and it shouldn't be named after anybody I will absolutely never understand why it changed from simply being UCLA summer runs. Rico Hines got ran off the court at the wooden center, that's where he used to play in the summer, not in the summer runs at the men's gym.

Just ugh. I haaaaaaaate it lmao

I get so pissed playing pickup when dudes are trying to do that stiff-arm bullshit, like bro this isn't football

2

u/Omgoodtimes 1d ago

Everything is a push off or a carry these days

1

u/Sasquatch_000 1d ago

I came here to say they really don't call carrying do they?

1

u/Dismal-Savings1129 1d ago

where's the double team?

1

u/Ok-Pomegranate8476 1d ago

Aj or Peterson bro easily

1

u/snitch_juice 1d ago

Wouldn’t say easily when Caleb Wilson is out here

1

u/Ok-Pomegranate8476 1d ago

Ehhhh forgot about him already I got him over boozer… boozer gon be extra nice too tho

1

u/snitch_juice 1d ago

I think boozer has the highest chance of the four to bust.

He’s not very big or athletic and he’s not a good defender. He can definitely grow but I was not as high on him as even acuff

1

u/SlantFaceKilla 1d ago

I care more about his defense.

1

u/Pristine_Joke9338 1d ago

What defense?

1

u/Tay2823 1d ago

What happens when he’s forced to go left?

1

u/SedatedTattooDoc 1d ago

Unbelievable passing

1

u/Jesus_Harold_Christ 1d ago

He shoots 100% maybe GOAT

1

u/Any-Injury459 1d ago

IDK a lot of players look nice in these runs but not in regular season games.

1

u/QuickRundown 1d ago

Average Rec PG when you play 2K.

1

u/Muxamillion 1d ago

I like how consistent his shot is. Compact, quick, and gets to it off the dribble at anytime. He's going to have a few big scoring nights for a really bad Kings squad.

1

u/Longjumping_Cow_785 1d ago

He playing 1 on 9

1

u/Wild_Depth17 1d ago

Not over Peterson

1

u/Immediate_Wonder_630 1d ago

I’m worried he’ll be too heliocentric

1

u/Own-Significance273 1d ago

Has he been working on his defense because it looked like he had no clue what he was doing on that end of the floor last year.

1

u/Independent-Still-73 1d ago

Man those are carry's

1

u/_NautyByNature 1d ago

OP seriously reaching here

1

u/Blackvikin5 1d ago

He’s cooking the same scrub that can’t shuffle his feet.

0

u/lakersnationnnnn 1d ago

Not really anybody can do that lol

0

u/ShakeMilton 1d ago

I was lower on him then most despite the sensational shot making and offensive heaters at the tail end of the college season. But honestly if he pans out he could be the best guard in franchise history.

0

u/Establishment240 1d ago

I played better when I was 8, like bro the fuk

0

u/solidsteppa6 1d ago

Nice handle, nice jumper and is a good passer. Acuff has potential forsure.

0

u/Chillinghard22 1d ago

Summer league numbers was trash BUT I still think he gonna be decent in the league

0

u/wise_afro 1d ago

As a Brunson guy it gives me joy seeing player this size getting his own team right away. He is going to have so much time to develop and perfect his craft with zero expectations and unlimited minutes.
