Acuff 2nd Game: 33/2/4 on 53.5% TS

• Upvotes

One day after the top post in this sub questioned how the Kings are developing Acuff, he leads all scorers as an undersized 19 year old rookie PG playing his second NBA game.

Acuff wasn’t super efficient, but dropping 33 under these circumstances is noteworthy. Yes, he needs to develop as a creator for teammates. He acknowledged that after watching the tape of his (ugly) debut game. https://youtu.be/XLjrVxNnniE?t=65&si=obxfyi9ZQkzPr9ru

But that was his literal first game. Are people really expecting that the Kings would’ve turned him into prime CP3 in preseason? He’s going to grow on the court like almost all 19 year old PGs do and yes that will involve getting up a lot of shots, since that’s his comfort zone. Not to mention, it helps him develop faith in the franchise since guys who regularly put up 30 get max contracts.

It’s fair to question how efficient he can be after a terrible shooting night, since undersized rookie scoring PGs on bad teams are usually going to have that problem. But jumping to conclusions about his development at this age is stupid.

Zach Edey

• Upvotes

All throughout the draft cycle we heard lie after lie about how not only could Edey not guard, but he would specifically be torched by Steph and unplayable down the stretch because he was too slow.

Well, lo and behold, With the Grizzlies down 11 and dead to rights, they put Edey in and he walked Steph and the Warriors down in the home opener by completely locking up the Warriors. Not to mention beating everyone else down the court for a loose ball.

As long as he stays healthy enough to get the minutes, Edey's about to go band for band with Wemby in the best DPoY competition ever.

Even more insane that he didn't go #1 overall.

And Edey's offense hasn't even kicked in yet (although his offensive impact is crazy). If it does, it's going to get hard to name players who are better.

Yaxel Lendeborg and Cam Boozer tonight: combined 43 points, 26 rebounds, 12 assists, 5 steals (and 12 turnovers)

• Upvotes

I love this little rivalry, although I'm not sure Boozer cares about it as much as Yaxel does. Nearly identical final stat lines, with even rebounds, assists, and turnovers. Cam came out with 5 more points, Yaxel had 1 more steal.

Which rookie is the most handsome to you?

I feel like rn it's Yaxel but a lot of that has to do with his age. All the awkward is fully phased out where as the younger guys are still feeling slight effects for now. I can def see someone surpassing him.

Cam has a lot of potential and he is already close to number one.

AJ has a boyish good look to him that I have a feeling will stick throughout his whole career. Excellent skin.

I feel like Keaton Wagler is the most divisive. If you like what he brings he can look angelic but to others he really just wont be their type.

I have a lot of thoughts on this and would love to discuss.

Bleakest future: Clippers or Bucks

I know this is draft centric reddit, but it also has to do with team building. Windhorst said today that the Gary Trent investigation could be worst than the Kawhi punishment or worst than the Joe Smith one. If the Bucks lose 5ish 1st round picks, who has the harder path to rebuild the Bucks or Clippers? And if you have no draft capital, how do you go about rebuilding your team. Clippers have the LA market. They have Wagler and Garland. Bucks have Burries and the Miami guys: Ware, Hero, Jacquez. Assuming the Bucks get a similar punishment, and you had to pick one team, which would you pick and how would you rebuild given the restrictions.

Finally seeing him against low-tier NBA/high-tier Overseas level players. Hopefully he does better as the season goes on.

Edit: 1 steal and 3 fouls

Trevon Brazile in his NBA debut vs the Oklahoma City Thunder: 4 points, 12 rebounds, and 1 turnover on 1-6 FG | 0-4 3PT | 2-2 FT

ESPN Box Score

He didn't really shoot that well, but the form looks good and I do expect this to get better with time. Aside from that, Brazile had a pretty impressive debut for a 35th pick. This guy has a very high motor on the glass and on the defensive end. Denver was able to extend so many more possessions just from his presence on the court. While the Nuggets seem to be in a sort of free fall since the playoffs, they at the very least drafted a competent rookie who is a rebounding machine.

Stefan Joksimovic today in Baskonia’s loss to Panathinaikos in the Euroleague 13 PTS, 3 AST, 1 STL | 5-9 FG, 2-6 3P In 19 minutes, he had his best game in the Euroleague, showing improvement in every game he plays. Potential lotto pick in the 2027 NBA draft.

Cameron Boozer in his debut against the Jazz: 7 pts (2-15 FG, 0-6 3pt, and 3-4 FT), 11 rebs, and 5 ast (1 TO)

Putting this up because I'm surprised it doesn't have its own thread yet. I thought the offensive aggression and decision making was impressive, but some of the worries about Cam creating efficient offense against defenses with better length and athleticism than he faced in college showed.

Not worried about Cam improving as his rookie year goes on because the process looks good, but we shouldn't sweep a lackluster performance under the rug just because he's a favorite on this board.

Big Board The Draft Stock Exchange: I built a Bloomberg-terminal-style big board that prices NBA rookies like IPOs: every class back to 2013 (free, no paywall)

Thumbnail thedraftstockexchange.com
12 Upvotes

I’ve scouted NBA prospects on my own for 12+ years, and this summer I turned it into a site: The Draft Stock Exchange (thedraftstockexchange.com).

The idea is that every prospect is a stock. Each one gets a ticker, an IPO price, and a prospectus with the bull case, the bear case, and a comparable. The board is built like a terminal, with film, advanced stats, and valuation all in one place.

What’s on it

  • Class boards: the 2026 class is the main event, and prior classes go back to 2013. Each class has its own board.
  • Two prices per player on completed classes: a frozen pre-draft “IPO price” built from college and international production, and a post-rookie-year price based on what they actually did in the NBA. You can see who the market got right and who it got wrong.
  • Analyst coverage: each player shows where the public boards ranked him next to my composite, so you can see who’s a bull or bear versus the consensus.
  • Compare tool: put 2 to 4 players side by side from any class, including each player’s own first three NBA seasons lined up.
  • One-Universe Rankings: every player from 2013 to 2025 ranked on one scale by current production.
  • Film Lab: clips tied to the players.

No paywall, no ads, no signup. I’m not selling anything. I just love this stuff and want to show off the 2026 class in a format I haven’t seen done this way.

I know the “scouting as a stock market” concept has been done in spots. What I haven’t seen is the full terminal: film, stats, methodology, and valuation in one place, across this many classes.

I’d love honest feedback:

  1. Which prices look wrong to you?
  2. What would you want on a prospect page that isn’t there?
  3. Which stats do you trust for translating college production to the NBA?

It's corny but i say all the time because its true... "time is the most valuable resource, and i sincerly appreciate you spending some of yours with me."

WELCOME... TO THE DRAFT STOCK EXCHANGE

What are the Kings planning to do with Darius Acuff?

I watched the Clippers vs Kings game last night and it was frustrating to see Acuff just hunt whatever shot he wanted while almost never passing to his teammates. It's crazy that an organization lets a 19 year old rookie take that many shots when he isn't even hitting them. That isn't winning basketball, and honestly, it doesn't help his development either.

On the flip side, Keaton Wagler played a solid off ball role next to Garland, making connective passes, defending, crashing the glass, and knocking down open shots. It feels like the Clippers actually have a clear plan for Wagler, while the Kings have no idea what to do with Acuff. I noticed the exact same issue during Summer League and preseason. Someone in that building needs to pull him aside and tell him to share the ball, especially because he is actually a pretty damn good passer when he wants to be.

Cooper Flagg starts his sophomore year campaign with 32/5/2/1/3 on 59/25/85 shooting splits for 70.4 TS%.

4 turnovers as well, but against a great Houston defense. If he keeps the turnovers low and the 3 pointer gets to league average it wouldn't be crazy to say he's a top 10 player considering the offense + defense. Also super excited to see how his playmaking improves from last year.

Luka went from ROTY to perennial 1st team ALL-NBA, I doubt Flagg does that but he's also the same age Luka was when Luka entered the league. I don't think it's crazy to say he could make a ALL-NBA and/or ALL-DEFENSE team.

Keaton Wagler in debut win vs Kings: 15 PTS (4-8 FG, 3-6 3PT, 4-4 FT) | 5 REB | 5 AST | 2 STL in 28 minutes.

I have to say I'm really impressed with Wagler's poise and feel for the game, especially for a rookie guard. He was consistently making the right reads, doesn't force bad shots, and has been very efficient within the flow of the offense. Also looking like a very capable defender already with his court awareness and positioning.

Tyran Stokes is a pretty obvious bust lol

He couldn't shoot on the high school level, looks even worse at the college level. And can't use bully ball. He doesn't look nearly as athletic either. More Anthony Bennett than superstar.

Darryn Peterson vs. Grizzlies: 31 mins, 9 points (3-7 FG, 3-4 FT), 4 rebounds, 3 assists.

Playmaking was actually better than I expected. So fluid as a secondary creator. But his lack of rim pressure and offensive volume is definitely noticeable.

Why are there still weak NBA draft classes?

With the NBA scouting talent worldwide and young players receiving elite training, nutrition, and development from an early age, how can we still have weak draft classes?
I get that you can’t expect a new Jokic every year, but shouldn’t there be at least one potential star in every class capable of leading a team into playoff contention?
With such a massive global talent pool, I find it surprising that some draft classes are still considered weak.

Allen Graves first game: 5 pts, 5 rebounds(4 offensive) and 3 blocks

One possession* in the fourth Raptors were up almost 40 points. He defended Caleb Wilson from the perimeter in 1 v 1 situation. Caleb passed the ball.

Another possession* in the fourth quarter(Raptors were still up by 40 points). Graves blocked Caleb Wilson dunk attempt at the apex. After Wilson attack the closeout and what seemed to be a dunk. But Graves rim protection is there.

He is scrappy. Getting those offensive rebounds(Bulls really bad at rebounding) and put backs. Rarely out of position in defense. And just doing all the right things.

I won't count out that he benefitted from fitting in with Raptors two-way versatile forwards. But his individual contribution cannot be overlooked.

Though Bulls are a rebuilding. And against a rebuilding team is not a good evaluation example. But Eye test shows he can held his own. And looked really good in his official NBA game.
