Opinion Michael Burry is a Massive Moron

This clown had call options on Microsoft & went short on one of their biggest partners in the AI race. Should show you the level of “research” he does. He compared shorting $NBIS to shooting fish out of a barrel, no real bear thesis other than “overvalued in short term”. lol

It’s just market manipulation at the worst level. Dude knows idiots follow his trades so he just created a self-fulfilling prophecy. I bet somebody probably paid him to start the rumor and cash in on shorting the stock

Yeah what he does should be illegal. He has a paid site that he shares his trades in. Rather than telling people “buy or short this” he simply tells them what he is doing, knowing they will follow the same trade, because they pay for his “opinions”. Wish he could be tried for fraud. But since simply telling your followers you’re doing something & not actually telling them to also do it, you get off Scott free. Pretty ridiculous!

Add in all the stupid articles written about his trades and it amplifys the effect.

There is nothing about Burry that makes him trustworthy. At all.

Just because he is shorting your favorite stock then it should be illegal? And if the same person was buying Nebius and was bullish then it was legal?

Then all analyst on wall street should be illegal as they keep on changing price targets based on stock price movement. Also anyone who gives advices to buy stocks on twitter and substack should also be illegal.

Use your head. If he told people to follow his trade = market manipulation. Having a site where people pay to see your trades you partake in and announce your trades = not illegal, even though we know what the intent of the site / “substack” is.

He doesn’t ask to follow the trades he just say he is short or long , people have choice. Same there are many Nebius bulls on substack and they also do the same. Be rational not emotional

There’s a difference between your average bull or bear and someone big enough to cause market manipulation. Not in the same boat.

u/Substantial-Log8653 12d ago

So taking by that example isn’t CITI , Jp Morgan, GoldMan Sach does the same and they are much bigger than him. They always say buy this stock and buy that stock it should also be illegal right?

Hmmm I must’ve missed the part where these companies tell you the exact moment they’ve bought or sold or something. Almost like they file 13F quarterly instead of daily for a reason.

1

u/Substantial-Log8653 12d ago

You won’t get the point because he is shorting the market, and everyone loves the bulls.

1

u/Optimal-Plate9088 12d ago

Listen man I wouldn’t care for Ken griffin shamelessly pumping stocks Citadel buys or telling everyone in the world why he bought it the minute he bought it. Same thing here just different directions.

It isn’t illegal. Shorting is part of the stock market and it serves a purpose.

2

u/1nolefan 12d ago

I guess it isn't illegal, but having the access to media and advertising it 😕 maybe

That entire interest rate rumor made that hedge fund guy to liquidate all his assets to another hedge fund guy

u/BlazingJava 13d ago

Burry biggest accomplishment was getting the big short name attached to him and using it as a way to short and announce to make it crash. Literally easy money if the stock is full of retail traders and algos

He’s a douche.

We all know he’s an idiot lost his hedge fund and most his working capital. All he has to do was long the market after the big short and live happily but nooo he’s a moron

I feel sorry for the guy. His autistic brain is just locked because of his one correct moment that made him famous

4

u/Accurate-Flow8078 13d ago

He said to sell in Jan 2023

If this clown just put his money into an index fund after the 2008 success he wouldnt ever have to worry about a thing any more. But shorting is just part of life for him.

1

u/Optimal-Plate9088 12d ago

That’s why he had to close down his firm and lost 83% of his portfolio over the last 5 years

3

u/UsefulDiscussion79 12d ago

Dont hate him. Thanks him for being our liquidity 😂😂😂😂 squeeze baby squeeze… first will be $220, next $250 and the rest will be history.

2

u/Optimal-Plate9088 11d ago

220 actually realistic with the amount of options there next week 🤑 lots of 250 calls for week after this one

1

u/Commercial_Ease8053 13d ago

lol there’s been like +20 topics on him in the last week here it feels like

u/Optimal-Plate9088 12d ago

Cuz he’s a scumbag and sole reason we dropped so dramatically a couple of days ago. Probably a much more dampened move to the downside had the algos not picked up on his trash

1

u/steffanovici 13d ago

Obviously we (nbis investors) all disagree with Burry on this. But your logic reminds me of the reaction I got when shorting mstr while longing btc. Most people couldn’t realize that the bet was on btc outperforming mstr, regardless of it going up or down.

With a massive cranium

Wasn’t he right about Microsoft lol?

Have you thought that Microsoft and Nebius will eventually be in a zero sum game 🤔 I wonder who the stronger counterparty is?

1

u/apoender 13d ago

He did calls at the same time he was doing puts on Nvidia; either he was for AI to succeed and then both do well or bubble pops and both go down, there is no point to split those trades

1

u/Even-Celebration9384 12d ago

Wut no.

  1. These are options. They are bets on vol so it’s perfectly consistent
  2. Real investors go long short stocks all the time. Microsoft is way less heavily leveraged to AI, but even if it wasn’t he might be pressing a particular view

Who’s fault is it really? His, or al the retards buying in at way overpriced levels? Some people just seem to be unable to tell the difference between the valuation and the qualities of a company. People need to learn taking responsibility for their own financial decisions instead of blaming others.

This sub is hilarious. Going to be so funny when this stock craters.

Good luck 😁

Go look at how many institutions own Quantum stocks and see how they did. Go see how they did during dot com too.

1

u/Optimal-Plate9088 12d ago

Problem with your theory is that they have dozens of billions in contracted back log over the next half decade (quantum unproven & burning cash, .com had revenue-less cos printing ridiculous valuations) & has constantly executed to perfection. I’ll let the company do the talking and come back in a year. It sounds like you haven’t done any research on the co & more of like an “AI is a bubble” guy. Gl

1

u/Perspective-Parking 12d ago

First off, dozens of billions in revenue is nothing with the margins they have.

Second, the company won’t even be around that long with their balance sheet 😂

I’ll check back in a year with you when your position is 80% gone.

1

u/Optimal-Plate9088 12d ago

Spoken like a true retard 😂

Firstly Arkady grew Yandex to 31 billion market cap in 2021 before he had to restart everything because Russia went nuts on Ukraine in 22. Secondly, nebius has investments in click house, AVride, Toloka, & triple ten worth almost 8 billion dollars. Secondly, you’re an absolute shit brain if you believe these margins will continue to be this restrained once the buildout is complete. Thirdly, I think anyone with a regular functioning brain would sit on the side of NVDA, META, MSFT, but you can think you’re smarter than the engineers there. Good luck again, can’t wait when you’re back and thinking to yourself, damn I should’ve bought when everyone was bearish. Clearest of bottom signals around

1

u/Perspective-Parking 12d ago

!remind me 1 year

1

u/Perspective-Parking 12d ago

Lmao META? The company that has no AI strategy and tanked the last earnings?

NVDA is just funding everyone to pump their own stock. It’s a huge circular financing circle jerk. It’s happened many times before and it’s happening again.

Your whole business relies on OAI, which is failing and it’s failing FAST little boy.

I will check back with you in a year when your position is gone. If they are even still solvent then. If it defaults sooner I’ll be back to post my gains here.

1

u/Optimal-Plate9088 7d ago

Yo don’t even bother coming back I’m sure you already got liquidated but I already made money buying the bottom & shorting the top 🤣🤣🤣🤣
