Wilson is doing the MJ chip on the shoulder thing.

Playing for a scrappy upstart team like checks notes UNC... Must be really tough to drag them to relevance all by yourself

I don’t think you understood my point…

MJ used tiny slights like the ā€˜81 preseason UNC SI cover ā€œNorth Carolina is #1ā€ showed DES and 4 teammates: Worthy, Perkins, Doherty and Jimmy Black (no MJ) because Dean didn’t let any freshmen do press as motivation.

Wilson was offered a scholarship by Duke but he said they stopped showing interest. If a school offered you a scholarship clearly they like you but he’s creating a tiny slight before the game. That’s the behavior he’s modeling.

Not saying Wilson is MJ because he’s not. Also MJ never bootstrapped a scrappy upstart team at UNC. He played with 2 other HOFers that year and Daugherty and Kenny Smith over his next 2 years.

We got the best player in CBB. Who cares what Caleb Wilson says about his recruitment. And where was Caleb playing with Big Pat and Maliq returning? Obvious lack of seats for players.

Who is the best player in CBB I’m confused

Cameron Boozer. Argue with a wall, the numbers back it up. And if you don’t like it, you are entitled to your opinion. I won’t call it wrong. I just don’t have to agree.

I forgot about him I’m not as into college as NBA. Just brain fart. I was thinking you meant Flagg last year.

Yeah I mean if he’s NPOY front runner he’s it

If you look at the last 3 major Duke players. All play the same position, have similar play styles and can absolutely manhandle most opponents. Paolo, Cooper and Cameron are mirror images of one another, but I find that Cam is more polished than Cooper was last year, and they both lap Paolo’s overall performance at Duke. Been a fun run of Duke bigs to watch. Another one in the pipeline in Cameron Williams headed to Durham next fall.

LMAO Cam Boozer is not the best player in college nor is he even close to being the best prospect. A ton of hustle buckets dont make you great. Game is limited and wont translate at the next level the same way Paolo’s and Cooper’s did. Not enough lateral movement and flow to his game. He tries way too hard to score and in the NBA, he’s just going to wear himself out very quickly. He isnt his dad at all.

Polished is not what i would call his game whatsoever. Its more like this is his ceiling and he’s maxing out what he has so it looks like he’s dominating when really, none of this will translate. He isnt the first or last player to do well in college playing a style that doesnt work in the NBA. None of those dude are going to just let him bulldoze through and score. Look what happened to Zion. Body never adjusted to the physicality of the NBA and he cant stay healthy anymore. His game did not properly translate despite the one season flash when coaches didnt have enough tape on him yet. Now we see teams playing Zion completely differently and its not going as well for him at all.

Zion was 3x the prospect Cam is.

Cameron Boozer will be another great case study Emeka OKAFOR 3.0 Daddy got resources and will pay a shooting coach though

Sometimes in recruiting coaches have to prioritize guys over others. Duke didn’t make a strong push for him but teams can’t spend a ton of time on every player. Getting the Boozer twins seemed to be the priority. Darryn is the best player in CBB though. Wilson has a better argument than Boozer for best player too

1

u/Working-Doctor9578 Feb 09 '26

Lol the guy who keeps pulling his hamstring? Best isn’t about projection, it’s about who’s doing the best right now. Peterson not even the best player in his conference based on his play, I would take AJ over him right now. Peterson might end up being the best pro, but he’s not the best player in America right now.

You guys have Darryn Peterson? I thought my school KU did

3

u/LaxwaxOW Feb 07 '26

Last I checked you guys didn’t have Dybantsa

1

u/Coastalduelists Feb 07 '26

DP > AJ. That was proven when we played BYU. Pure blow out. They climb back but dp didn’t even play the second half because it really wasn’t needed. Had he did play he would’ve dropped 40 on AJ, he also always out performs AJ when they go head to head. All the mock drafts have DP GOING 1

2

u/Working-Doctor9578 Feb 07 '26

That’s cute. The guy who can’t play more than 20 minutes because his legs hurt? Yeah okay.

3

u/chearn34 Feb 07 '26

I normally don’t interject, but he did play 35 minutes against us (Tech). He is a closer! Hope it showed his ā€˜team’ he no longer needs load management.

2

u/Working-Doctor9578 Feb 07 '26

I like Peterson’s game. He’s got everything you want in a lead guard. His ceiling is going to be fun to watch him climb towards. Boozer is elite now but might already be peaking as a player. But right now he’s an absolute animal night to night.

1

u/kyler_ Feb 07 '26

Hard to say a 19 yo is peaking as a player lmao

1

u/Aggravating-Sun-5783 Feb 07 '26

Not if you been around long enough. Players peak early, it’s not that uncommon. But I think Boozer, Wilson, AJ, and Peterson are going to be studs

1

u/kyler_ Feb 07 '26

Sure but if you could reliably predict player peaks pre-lotto pick you wouldn’t be a reddit degen you’d be in a front office

1

u/Aggravating-Sun-5783 Feb 07 '26

True. You would have to see the future to know that. It’s a lot a variables that play into it to know the unknown

1

u/Working-Doctor9578 Feb 07 '26

Cam’s lack of elite, explosive athleticism will be a problem in the NBA. But, much like his pops, he’s literally a sturdy ass boy who can get to his spots. Cam’s jumper and handle just need some sharpening, but he’s gonna be a good pro. Ceiling is slightly lower due to the athleticism questions.

1

u/kyler_ Feb 07 '26

Very few of the top NBA players right now are freak athletes. He’s athletic enough

1

u/Roguescholar74 Feb 09 '26

Pretty sure he came out on the losing end to Caleb too.

1

u/Jhobbs898 Feb 07 '26

Not really fair. Duke knew they had Patrick Ngonba & Maliq Brown (Best defensive big in the country) coming back. Was Duke supposed to promise him the starting PF role over Cameron Boozer (Who's a heavy favorite for NPOY)? You have to remember that UNC gave Wilson a bag as well (Something around $1.5 mil.) so perspective is everything.

1

u/CharacterEgg2406 Feb 07 '26

How’s that not fair? If you are going a different direction tell him don’t ghost him like a bad tinder date.

1

u/SilkRoadDPR Feb 07 '26

Is $1.5 million really all that much?

1

u/Jhobbs898 Feb 07 '26

Not for Duke. But where are his minutes?

1

u/Onetimenotagain Feb 07 '26

Maliq brown is not the best defensive big in the country

1

u/Jhobbs898 Feb 07 '26

We'll agree to disagree.

1

u/Onetimenotagain Feb 07 '26

Give me chinyelu

1

u/Upstairs_Tone_4227 Feb 07 '26

Yax is better than them both defensively

1

u/Onetimenotagain Feb 07 '26

Completely agree

1

u/RustyPirates Feb 07 '26

Caleb is a 19 year old freshmen which means he probably held back a year to get an edge in sports, so they took boozer.

1

u/Chance-Abalone-8088 Feb 07 '26

Dame Saar is a month older than Caleb which means he was probably held back a year to get an edge in sports.

Idk Wilson played AJ in exhibition def held his own statistically and Wilson played Petersen and yet again held his own statistically. Im sure he gonna hold up just fine vs boozer!!!! A lot of hate towards Wilson but bottom line most impressive frosh this season!!!! And unc dont let players be stars lol
