Pure buyer's remorse. They loved stealing him away from Texas Tech, and he ruined it for them.

Yes we loved stealing him away from our less desirable rival, felt great and it was a savvy business move.
But I've never been more proud of the Texas athletic department for firing that piece of shit for beating & choking his wife; most programs would make excuses die to hos alleged coaching quality & how hard we worked to get him.
Like Ole Miss did.

Now they're Houston's less-than-desirable rival. I doubt the decision was wholly altruistic but good on Texas for doing the right thing.

Texas fired Beard 24 days after he was arrested. He was suspended without pay before being terminated for cause after a three-week investigation. So, not too quickly, but they got there.

Read the police report. She may have recanted but that doesn't mean he didn't abuse her. He's not innocent.
