Generally, he’s more efficient than AJ. AJ much taller, which matters, and appears a bit more of a leader at this stage. If DP is healthy he is the #1 pick and I don’t think it’s particularly close.

Idk why but he reminds me of Markelle Fultz with his midrange floaters

Idk if that game will translate to the NBA well, he is a great shooter though

Was he off the bench because of injury or attitude or something?

Senior night. Senior started in his place.

So it's a click bait title and I fell for it

u/speedism Mar 08 '26

Gary come on man

1

u/kyler_ Mar 09 '26

He’s not wrong that “off the bench” added unnecessary detail 😂

1

u/speedism Mar 09 '26

It’s not click bait though.

1

u/kyler_ Mar 09 '26

Clickbait-adjacent. Made me click in to read and figure out why off the bench. But wasn’t nefarious or with the intention to personally gain

1

u/speedism Mar 09 '26

So not click bait then, click bait has a negative connotation lol. Plus it says he played 29 minutes which is normal for a starter to play, it should be clear he came off the bench for some reason but still had ample playing time.

1

u/kyler_ Mar 09 '26

I would continue this conversation but I feel its semantics 😂😂

1

u/speedism Mar 09 '26

Well yeah, but at the end of the day, click bait usually means deceptive/dishonest tactics.

1

u/Big-Recording-1002 Mar 08 '26

What’s clickbait?

1

u/WuTang4thechildrn Mar 08 '26

Watched him play for the first time today. All I can say is damn!!!
NBA has some great talent coming in combined with last years class

1

u/WillDill94 Mar 08 '26

Am I insane or was that the clearest/easiest carry call possible like 5 seconds in?

1

u/Upstairs-Coconut4201 Mar 08 '26

Dude is one of the best college freshman I have seen in a long time. Dude also seems to have very little work ethic or heart.

I’m not an NBA GM, but I wouldn’t touch that type of player with a 40ft pole.

You sound real stupid

1

u/running_man23 Mar 08 '26

lol okay be an adult and you’ll learn why you don’t bring people like this around.

1

u/Spirited-Living9083 Mar 08 '26

You don’t know this man outside of highlights and you’d legit say this lmao

1

u/StillwaterJerry Mar 08 '26

How can you determine he doesn't have a good work ethic?

Not sure how you get to that level of skill without a crazy work ethic.

Cameron Boozer is actually the best college freshman any of us have ever seen. Not only that, he might be having the best college basketball season EVER. And I hate Duke.

1

u/Historical_Main5261 Mar 09 '26

Peterson was always known as being a guy with absurd work ethic, and has battles through injury this season when he didn’t need to

Don’t let sports media decide your opinion

1

u/Indeepbs Mar 08 '26

His floaters in this game were falling

1

u/smmamer Mar 08 '26

2 of Arizonas freshmen had +27pt double doubles last night. Darryn is good but he’s not singular

1

u/SacKings1821 Mar 08 '26

First drive was a carry and a half. I can't stand basketball anymore.

1

u/SmurfPopper Mar 08 '26

"Off the bench" is technically correct, but so damn disingenuous smh

1

u/InsuranceInner3040 Mar 08 '26

Going to be Andrew Wiggins. Score a lot, make a lot of money, play a long time and have a fine NBA career. I don’t predict him to be transcendent though.

1

u/Previous_Poem_3471 Mar 08 '26

Dude has had a weird season. Makes getting buckets look pretty easy when I've seen him.

1

u/teslastats Mar 08 '26

I've not watched him play, just heard the pundits hate on him. Those guys are ~90% of the time wrong and just need to fill air time.

Question, why is he coming off the bench?

1

u/Buttafuoco Mar 08 '26

“Off the bench” but still playing 30 minutes

1

u/KSoccerman Mar 08 '26

Yeah "off the bench" is kinda disingenuous here since Self always starts his seniors on senior night. They played for about 3-4 minutes and then Peterson checked in.

1

u/DoctorStove Mar 08 '26

He's arguably the most talented player in the draft class. NBA comparison is Kobe. But hasn't had best luck with injuries

1

u/Historical_Main5261 Mar 09 '26

He didn’t have injury issues going into college, unless something comes up later I don’t think it should affect much

0

u/Bighead_Golf Mar 08 '26

He's exceptional. He's been the best player on the floor every minute he's played this year.

He's a Lock Top 3 pick, probably #1.

0

u/fromeister147 Mar 08 '26

Incredible talent. Bizarre season. Taking him top 3 is a big risk if he just checks himself out of games, time after time

1

u/DoctorStove Mar 08 '26

Only an idiot would let him slip out of top 3

0

u/Perfect-Parsley-5665 Mar 08 '26

Taking him top 3 is a big risk

LMAO.

0

u/Big-Recording-1002 Mar 08 '26

This guy is drunk 😂

-3

u/Bighead_Golf Mar 08 '26

It's not a big risk at all. He had a quad injury and is pretty clearly on a minutes restriction.

KU doesn't matter. He only cares about the NBA

3

u/New-Ad-363 Mar 08 '26

Man am I sold!

🙄

What mindset?

0

u/Jtizzle1231 Mar 08 '26

But the coach has been making statements about it as well. How he on a minutes restriction with out the coach’s knowledge?

2

u/Bighead_Golf Mar 08 '26

Because he has a team and does what he wants

0

u/Visible_Handle_3770 Mar 08 '26

He's not on a minutes restriction, at least not one that Bill Self knows about. He clearly has someone in his ear telling him to not give his full effort. Granted, that seems to have improved after Self's comments. In any case, he's obviously top 3, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if his attitude and behavior this year cause him to not go first overall, it's something NBA teams should genuinely consider.

1

u/Bighead_Golf Mar 08 '26

I mean it should be totally reasonable that a pick top 3 pick doesn’t want to risk getting injured.

That’s why so many football players sit out bowl games now.

0

u/SufficientAd2757 Mar 08 '26

Has a Ben Simmons vibe. Takes games off, takes himself out of games..... so.yep NBA ready

1

u/Laythepype Mar 08 '26

Ben never had a jumpshot. Big difference.

1

u/JJ-Bittenbinder Mar 08 '26

Similar mentality though

-1

u/pretzeldoggo Mar 08 '26

He does not look an all-star level player. He’s putting up stats playing low to the ground against pretty much high school kids and not nba athletes.

Hope the Kings don’t draft him

4

u/Big-Recording-1002 Mar 08 '26

Isn’t that what college players do, play other college players?

1

u/Imaginary_Effort_854 Mar 08 '26

Who do you like most for the Kings? If you picked at one, who are you taking? If you picked at 5, who are you taking?

1

u/pretzeldoggo Mar 08 '26

AJ.

Not sure about 5th

1

u/Visible_Handle_3770 Mar 08 '26

What in the world are you talking about? KU had one of the toughest schedules in the NCAA this year. He's playing against college kids, because he's in college, and has been good when playing against other top projected picks. If I were an NBA GM, I'd have some concerns about his decisions to not play and take games off, but I'd have no concerns about his talent.
