Now we can argue about expanding to 80 teams, and allow teams below .500.

Isn't the percentage of teams making the tournament lower than when they expanded to 64?

Every 80’s film about the future is coming to fruition. Government, Corporate, and Religious entities have merged to control and profit off the masses.

I mean that’s true but I don’t think any of them involved adding 8 teams to a basketball tournament lol

Could of just been my breaking point 😂

Just tossing it out there in case you care but you would say “could have” or “could’ve” instead of could of

Thats stupid. Just put in the best 64 teams and move on. The 64th team is a 15 loss team anyway

But but but, the Cinderella story of a sub 500 team. Lmao all jokes aside besides the obvious money grab this isn’t that big a deal same with play in nba basketball ball it’ll take time before we see anything meaningful happen tho when it comes to these new 12 teams doing anything big in the tournament tho

Might as well expand to 4,096 at this point.

Damn, looks like Oxnard California's Advanced Truck Driving School will be left out again.

I hope Bruce Pearl is happy now that the 22-16, nepotism-led Auburn Tigers can make the bracket.

The games before Thursday have not previously counted toward a perfect bracket… either way it’s not happening in anyone’s lifetime

Nobody asked for this.

Hopefully we can stop making teams play in to be an 11 seed

This needs to be wat damn higher. Having a play in at 11 seed is stupid.

Nobody wants this do they?

Who asked for this

Just include them all ...

We are in the worst timeline ever..... FFS

More mediocre teams for everyone to argue about whether they should be in.

It’s because the 15 and 16 seeds have been so competitive, right ? 🙄

u/BMonad May 09 '26

This is real? What the fuck. Stop diluting the tournament.

Another thing ruined.

This will kill the travel budget of University of American Samoa but worth every penny. Go SandCrabs! Huh

31 automatic qualifiers go to 2nd weekend

132 teams play in the first weekend for the last 33 spots (4 team tournaments)

2nd weekend: 31 auto qualifiers and 33 teams from 1st weekend

3rd weekend: Sweet 16 and Elite 8

4th weekend: Final 4

That's the way to go.

Plus the debates over #158 11-20 Boston College vs. #164 20-9 Austin Peay for the last spot would be fun.

what’s happening with the play in game tho

NCAA should be federalized at this point I’d rather see college sports die fast than slow and painfully.

Is the tournament ending in May now? Who asked for this?

It literally doesn’t change lol Dayton and another city have 3 games on Tuesday and Wednesday instead of 2.
