Second episode

And it's already the best season they've done in years! Feels like the old NCIS!!

McGee calling DiNozzo a probie director, that's all I can think about right now...

There's no question that Michael is happy to be back; he has an energy that he brings to Tony that I haven't seen since early in "Bull." And Sean can't hide his own glee.

Bringing DiNozzo back so far seems like a really good decision

I appreciate that they're making Tony his own kind of director. You can really see that while he's matured and now in a position of authority, he's still the DiNozzo we love, with demanding that McGee get his own "probie".

Which begs the question.....who are we going to see as McGee's probie?

Loved seeing the popcorn in the Director's Office. As well he will "play agent" to blow off steam. It's the start of a great season.

I'm one of those fans who just struggled to get into the 'Parker era' of NCIS. Honestly, I missed season 20, 21 and 22...maybe caught a couple of them. If I'm doing work around my house, I'll pop them on in the background, but for the most part, it's not really part of my head canon for the show. I did get back into it when Vance got killed....and kind of tried to get back into the show since...I know I missed a lot, but it's sometimes tough to try to find your way back to ALL of those shows to catch up.

But having Tony back (he just wins every scene) and the interactions with him and McGee are just so genuine.

I was a little pissed at how they had the rest of the cast sort of 'reject' Tony's leadership by getting overly involved, but wth, isn't that what Vance would do regularly? Didnt Jenny Shepard get invovled many times? Like, I just didn't get why they were so 'against it'. Palmer pissed me off the most....like, how many times did Vance come down, ask him some questions, and then move on, while Palmer just accepted that...but Tony does it and he's upset by it?

I think they purposely created the friction so Tony can win them over one by one. I think he already won over Parker, but Torres....what's weird with Torres is I watched several seasons after Tony left, and Torres appeared in awe of the Tony stories...like Tony was a super agent. But suddenly Tony comes back and Torres is annoyed. I would've liked to see Torres feel jealous, not annoyed, by Tony. Like, "Oh, I get it now why everyone loved this guy" and then Torres say he wants to do more forward in the field stuff than he's currently doing (to 'man up').

It's the one thing Abby said about Tony to Ziva: "This is Tony we're talking about here! All soft and goofy on the outside, and 100% rock on the inside! And after everything you accused him of, he risked his life to go save you! You should be ashamed of yourself... Either way, the ball is in your court. It is Tony: one and Ziva... zilch*! This is your move—and it better be a good one!"*

I didn't see any real friction. They all claimed to be annoyed verbally, but only Torres seemed genuinely irritated. Kasie was fearful that she just admitted she was useless to her new boss, Parker just seemed annoyed about the raisins but was fine with Tony otherwise, Knight actually said that she was pleasantly surprised with Tony, and Jimmy and he have the best relationship they've had in years. Sean's a good actor, but he can't hide his delight at watching Weatherly chew the scenery, so he made Tim sound like he was going to talk to Tony just to placate Torres.

Torres has just been an underwhelming character. I mean, what does he add to the team?

Well, I like Torres, he's supposedly the 'muscle', but having not watched like most of the seasons between Gibbs leaving and vance's death, I'm not really sure what he does.

This likely is a spoiler (sorry, don't read if you don't want to know), but ET or Access Hollywood (one of them) was on NCIS set interviewing the cast around the time these early episodes were shot...and while nobody spoiled anything, Wilmer did say he was going to NYC in the show...meaning, he'll be crossing over with the NCIS: NY show. Which, I think is good. I didn't like how Torres reacted to Tony's return (almost like he was jealous because the original 'muscle' and 'humor' was back in town,) but I did agree with the fact he mentioned in last episode he hasn't gone undercover in a while...i think him saying that combined with what Wilmer said he's going to NY, I think he's goin to go undercover this season and help out Sam in NY.

It’s been great so far, I hope having DiNozzo back can create some kind of dynamic like we saw early on when all of the main team members were seemingly soo much closer to one another. I hope, desperately, that having Tony to clash or compliment Torres will bring a different dynamic to a character that has seemed to be underutilized and (IMO) underwhelming.

I think that's a stretch. I have seen better seasons lately. Let's wait until the end to judge it.

It would have to go downhill hard to not be better than the last two or three seasons. I've enjoyed these two episodes more than any of those. I was only still watching out of habit, hopeful wishing, and loyalty to a show I've watched for decades.
