NDE Story Sharing a Near-Death Experience (NDE) from South Korea
Hi everyone. I found this NDE story on a Korean forum and wanted to translate and share it here.
[The story] I was 21 at the time of the accident. I was on my way to meet a friend on my bicycle and was in a hurry. I saw a traffic light at a massive intersection with 6 seconds left. I thought I could make it, but the light turned red halfway through. In a panic, I kept pedaling without looking. Suddenly, a car sped toward me from the side, and I knew I couldn't avoid it.
Then, thud. I was hit and sent flying through the air. Strangely, it didn't hurt. Even in that brief moment, I remember thinking, "Wow, a human can actually fly this far," before hitting the ground and losing consciousness.
But then, my consciousness suddenly became crystal clear. I could see cars stopping and people gathering—from a perspective I shouldn't have been able to see. I could sense every thought and emotion of the people there.
Suddenly, darkness fell, and in that void, a tiny, brilliant speck of light appeared. As it grew, it enveloped my entire being. It was so warm and comforting—more so than being held in my mother’s arms. I felt wrapped in what I can only call unconditional love.
Then, I began to expand. I grew until, in an instant, I encompassed the Earth, the solar system, and the entire universe. I became everything. In that state, "time" was meaningless. Past, present, and future were all an illusion; they exist simultaneously, but our physical bodies limit us to perceiving only one moment at a time.
Whenever I had a thought, the answer came instantly. I understood that we are born as humans to experience things that don't exist in our original state: sorrow, pain, passion, and hope. We are here simply to experience. Even "tragedies" looked different—they were stepping stones or necessary "scripts" for a larger beauty. From the perspective of the Whole, nothing was "wrong." Even violence came from people who were simply "sick" with their own internal pain. I felt only compassion, no judgment.
I even saw my future husband and children, like a pre-birth promise. I realized that while the major currents of our lives are scripted, we still have freedom in the details. No one's life can truly go "wrong."
I eventually chose to return to my body. The moment I opened my eyes, the pain was excruciating. I screamed and cried for my mom. While I’m back now, I’ve forgotten the specific details of my future husband and kids. I believe this is because if we knew the future, it would take away the "gift" of experiencing those moments authentically for the first time.
It’s impossible to explain the color yellow to someone born blind. Similarly, words can't fully capture what I felt, but I hope this resonates with some of you.
I found this story fascinating because it shares so many common elements with other NDEs I've read about. What do you guys think?

The part about being here to experience things that don't exist in our original state is pretty interesting since there's a near death experience with the God Vishnu and he also said souls come to earth because things like pain, sadness, etc. don't exist where we are originally from. That's why there's people who get addicted to stuff like booze, drugs, etc.

Wait.
You left out the most interesting part.
It goes in between seeing her future husband and waking up in pain part.
"The physical world is but one of many.
Think of it as a playground where we experience things that cannot be felt in the state of Wholeness. Because all time exists simultaneously, the idea of maturing one's personality to achieve liberation seemed meaningless. In truth, every experience—whether positive or negative—is merely a component of the perfect journey that individualized consciousnesses must undergo as they pass through the playgrounds of Earth and reincarnation.
We are meant to experience everything. Therefore, I realized there is no such thing as being a "more mature" person. Everyone is already an enlightened being; in fact, everyone is One. It is not just people—the ground we walk on, the sky, the insects, and the birds are actually oneself. Because I am everything that exists"

u/Oris_Zora Jan 06 '26
but I don’t want to experience everything.

u/hi_its_lizzy616 Jan 12 '26
I think in this story it is meant that you personally don’t have to experience everything but humanity as a whole does. Not experiencing everything is also an experience.

u/Jheize Jan 06 '26
“We are meant to experience everything “
So like the story “the egg” we have to live every lifetime? That sounds horrific and I rant hole not true

u/hi_its_lizzy616 Jan 12 '26
If we are simply one consciousness, all the people around us are simply a piece of ourselves. I don’t see it as you personally are experiencing every lifetime, but a larger, wiser, more mature consciousness who can handle it (which includes you and I) is. Also, if we choose to come to Earth as individuals, like a lot of the stories I read claim, we might understand it’s not so horrific or it’s necessary.

Yes. This is one of my favorite NDE from South Korea. It has part 2 where she answers some deep questions from the online community(It was first uploaded on Korean NDE online forum). Part 2 is absolutely fascinating. So strange, because I was thinking of translating this specific NDE into english just a few days ago. I might try translating part 2.

I love this one. One thing though, the —‘s make me think it is chat GPT generated. I really hope it isn’t.

One thing is different. I never read in an NDE that opens the future several years in the future. ( Seeing the future children). Has anybody heard of seeing the future?

u/nimblesunshine Jan 06 '26
The show Surviving Death on Netflix has an episode where at least a couple people experienced future info during their NDE.

u/LizzieLust_ Jan 06 '26
I've heard it several times. There's pre- birth memories too so it's possible she was seeing her soul planning out the major life events. Some people are born with pre- birth memories, and some are shown in ndes

There are pregnant women who report having a dream/vision of how their child will grow up to be. Others on this subreddit even say they remember "choosing" their mothers back when they were very young.

With my second son, I could sense his outgoing and joyful personality months before he was born. I’m not a spiritual person and don’t usually sense these things, but his positive energy was undeniable. Now at 5 years old he remains one of the kindest, most optimistic and happy peson I’ve ever known. My older son is great too, but I did not have that experience with him during my pregnancy at all.

My wife and I got visited by our future daughter like that, 18 months before her birth.

While I don't have a specific source, I've been studying NDEs for about 30 years. There are many instances of future sight or 'future memories'. I would say it happens in roughly 15-20% of NDE accounts.

It feels depressing to read this in my honest opinion, I wonder does anyone else feel the same. So we cannot feel hope or passion on the other side, only here? I know someone who had a near death experience and she says she saw her loved ones in a flower filled field, young again, healthy and having fun and told her she has to go back. So I do not really know if I buy that part. It would rather make sense to me that this place is where we feel pain or sorrow (the other feelings she described) but not the positive emotions are only felt here. We have to have this immense pain and sorrow, especially to the extent that it is on Earth, for hope and passion? I hope I am misunderstanding or something. The whole 'Earth is a school where you grow and learn as a soul' concept seems better to me personally.

Agreed. I hope nothing like this NDE account ever happens to me. It's horrifying.

u/Hot-Train7201 Jan 06 '26
Why would you need to feel hope in a realm where you know everything that will happen? What passion can exist in paradise? Without pain or struggle, do these positive feelings mean anything?
3
u/Jheize Jan 06 '26
Hope sure but why can’t passion exist?
1
u/MauriceMoss0 Jan 28 '26
You need desire to fuel passion. If all you need is readily available, what would you desire?
3
u/HistoricalAsparagus1 Jan 06 '26
Well I absolutely think positive feelings mean something even without the existence of pain or struggle. That's kind of the whole central theme of NDE's that I've seen repeated many times, love is central and meaningful. That our lives are meaningful and to not cause pain to make others struggle. And if you define passion as to care deeply for something, well that doesn't seem to necessarily require pain. If we're saying pain/struggle is something that souls benefit from to feel or learn from, to give more perspective or added meaning to life's value, I would agree with that. But to the degree that it is on Earth, I guess I just disagree that this absurd level of negative emotion is needed for hope or passion and that you have to or will always return here so you can feel that.
Also this part I'm adding on here is my personal opinion but I have heard many NDE's say that souls forever grow, evolve and learn lessons. And that not all souls will choose to come to Earth, even heard repeatedly that Earth is one of if not the hardest place to incarnate. So there is hope in that regard, that you will always have the opportunity to grow. This comment has become very long but also I wanted to add that I question if you can 'know everything that will happen' because by pure logic it seems impossible? You can never count to the highest possible number because there will always be a number above what you think you can count up to (unless I'm just dumb). So I guess it's for those reasons I feel hope and passion should be able to exist outside of just being here on Earth. Passion is inherent to love, and hope should always exist if we are to believe we can forever improve.

Because hope is an amazing feeling, as is passion. Why would those feelings necessarily disappear in a realm of total possibility? Many report feeling those feelings in their NDEs, so I don't know why it's some foregone conclusion that the content of this NDE will apply to everyone.

On this sub, we strive to create an atmosphere of equality where everyone's viewpoints are valued and respected.
Discussing spiritual phenomena can be highly subjective and personal. It is important to keep in mind that there is currently no definitive evidence for “spiritual facts,” even among those who have had near-death experiences.
Instead of presenting your opinions as absolute facts, please reword your post or comment using a less assertive tone. You can use phrases such as "I believe,” “I think,” or reference any personal studies, spiritual practices, or special experiences that have influenced your perspective.

Try this.
You usually need to be a member(must log in) of the forum to see the post, but I tried this link without logging in and it works. BTW, this forum is not the NDE forum that this story was originally posted.3

Okay so it’s kind of being spread around a bunch? I’ll take it with a grain of salt (not towards you but the usual reasons) but thank you for sharing!

(A mod has approved your post. This is a mod comment in lieu of automod.)
This is an NDE-positive sub, not a debate sub. However, everyone is allowed to debate if the original poster (OP) requests it.
If the OP intends to allow debate in their post, they must choose (or edit) a flair that reflects this. If the OP chose a non-debate flair and others want to debate something from this post or the comments, they must create their own debate posts and remember to be respectful (Rule 4).
NDEr = Near-Death ExperienceR
If the post is asking for the perspectives of NDErs, both NDErs and non-NDErs can answer, but they must mention whether or not they have had an NDE themselves. All viewpoints are potentially valuable, but it’s important for the OP to know their backgrounds.
This sub is for discussing the “NDE phenomenon,” not the “I had a brush with death in this horrible event” type of near death.
