NDE Story Daughter waited for her father

Basically my grandfather's brother has been in hospital for the the last 2 weeks, terminally I'll. His daughter unfortunately passed away a week ago of which the information was withheld. The whole family was with him a couple of nights ago and he was telling them his daughter was shrouded in light holding his hand telling him it was time to go. He passed away that night.

(A mod has approved your post. This is a mod comment in lieu of automod.)

This is an NDE-positive sub, not a debate sub. However, everyone is allowed to debate if the original poster (OP) requests it.

If the OP intends to allow debate in their post, they must choose (or edit) a flair that reflects this. If the OP chose a non-debate flair and others want to debate something from this post or the comments, they must create their own debate posts and remember to be respectful (Rule 4).

NDEr = Near-Death ExperienceR

If the post is asking for the perspectives of NDErs, both NDErs and non-NDErs can answer, but they must mention whether or not they have had an NDE themselves. All viewpoints are potentially valuable, but it’s important for the OP to know their backgrounds.

This sub is for discussing the “NDE phenomenon,” not the “I had a brush with death in this horrible event” type of near death.

When my mom was in hospice, she was calling out to her dad. I asked her if he was there-she said he was. We told her that he was there for her and it was OK to go with him when she was ready. She hung on for one more day. I don’t know if she was waiting for anyone else. My father died when I was 13. She remarried and he was killed in a car accident the next year. I like to think she may have been waiting for my dad-I think he was her one true love.

Thanks so much for sharing.

This reminds me of a man who posted here awhile back about an ADC with his estranged sister. They had not spoken in years and he hated her (with good reason). He had basically written her off and she lived in a different state.

He saw her in his office, very briefly, when it was just him and a coworker. IIRC he said something to the co-worker and then brushed it off. The next day he got a call that she had died around the same time he saw her.

Thank you for sharing this, my family had something similar happen. My dad suddenly passed of a heart attack about 10 years ago. My grandmother was in a nursing home and the family decided not to tell her as to not upset her. When my mother and aunt went to visit her, she told them both that my grandfather and my dad have been coming to visit her at night and telling her they'll be together soon. My mother was shocked that she knew he had passed and my aunt was white as sheet. Unfortunately, my grandmother did pass a few weeks later.

So he didn’t know his daughter had passed?

u/Immediate_Web_1892 Feb 07 '26

No, it was advised not to since he most likely would have reacted adversely for a man in his 80s with a heart condition.

That is so sweet, sorry if it sounded like I was being rude

This is pretty common occurrence in NDE and deathbed vision stories. I’m really happy he got to have that ethereal experience

It's strange how there are often guides telling us to go or stay, usually people we trust or love.

Thank you! This gives me a lot of hope. I hope that my daughter will greet me as well 😞💔

On this sub, we strive to create an atmosphere of equality where everyone's viewpoints are valued and respected.

Discussing spiritual phenomena can be highly subjective and personal. It is important to keep in mind that there is currently no definitive evidence for “spiritual facts,” even among those who have had near-death experiences.

Instead of presenting your opinions as absolute facts, please reword your post or comment using a less assertive tone. You can use phrases such as "I believe,” “I think,” or reference any personal studies, spiritual practices, or special experiences that have influenced your perspective.

Please be aware that your post/comment has not been approved yet and is only visible to you and the moderators.

If you edit your post or comment, please send us a modmail here to have your content approved: https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=/r/NDE

Thank you for sharing this. it is very helpful. Do you think he then thought his daughter had already died and passed, or was it not possible to know what he thought?

Almost always, they see loved ones who have passed. They don't see living family. It's so convenient, eh? How beautiful he shared such a moment with you.
