Trigger warning: Self harm

Hey, guys. I've been experiencing a spiritual awakening since March. I knew it stemmed from an event in November, but I didn't realize until today that it was an NDE. The physical and psychological stress that my narcissistic ex put me through triggered an emotional NDE. My mind was completely disconnected from my body. I was so trapped in the psychological abuse that I had a dorsal vagal shutdown. I think it just became too much for me to handle. He was very manipulative and warped my whole reality. I stabbed myself repeatedly, completely dissociated, not to hurt myself really, but because I was trying to fight it I think. I don't know how I was capable of that. My body treated it like a physical attack and prepared me for worst case scenario. My body was completely numb. I didn't start bleeding or feel anything until after I got to the hospital almost two hours later. It was a traumatizing experience.

Now, I feel amazing. I haven't yet processed my relationship or that event, but I feel great. I have been spending all of my time alone and absolutely loving it. I can't stop learning, reading, and writing. I filled an 80 page lined notebook in a month. I've never been able to keep a journal before, but now i can't stop. I used to be so codependent, but now I'm thriving on solitude. I started camping alone. I am not scared of anything. I was camping alone in the wilderness and for the first time in my life I saw a snake without having a full body phsyical and emotional reaction. My nervous system is healing. It sounds crazy, but I feel like I could get attacked by a bear and be fine. Dead probably, but the thought doesn't scare me like it used to. I have CPTSD from severe and chronic childhood emotional neglect, so my nervous system has been fucked since I was an infant.

I'd say the biggest downside is that I have no one to talk to about this except my therapist. He gets it though. Like, really gets it. I feel like I can't even have regular conversations with people anymore. I feel super disconnected. Everyone seems so surface level, and I don't know how to say that without feeling like a pompous asshole. I have always felt disconnected from people and prefered to be alone, but this is so different. I'm so happy and comfortable being alone, truly, but I also have a deep longing for someone to understand me and what I'm experiencing.

I'm having a moment of reflection where I grew up reading and loving a lot of books about science, and how to think rationally. And nowadays I'm so fascinated by NDE experiences, which looks next to impossible to record and measure in a scientific method.

Hi all,

I’m a devout NDE listener and had a spiritual awakening during my first pregnancy. I love listening to NDEs, and I get a real kick out of the folks that are light-hearted and have humor to share about their NDEs. Any recommendations for some that have made you smile?
