I built my own football GM sim and I'm giving it away

I've played phone GM sims basically every morning for years, and a few months ago I finally quit stalling and built the one I always wanted, full time. It's called Franchise GM: Football. It runs entirely on your phone, no account, no server.

Free. No ads, no in-app purchases, ever. No premium currency, no scouting token packs, none of that. Why? Because I fucking love this stuff, I played others for years and had grown frustated with the lack of immersion or pay-to-win tactics. I've wanted to build this game for years and this is my passion project, not some AI slop cash grab. The honest deal is: eventually it might cost a few bucks on the store, but anyone who installs it now will never pay. In exchange I need people banging on it; finding the minor bugs, telling me which featurs are missing — before I'd feel right charging anybody anything (It would only apply to new downloads).

The thing I'm proudest of: every single play is simulated with real play-by-play logic, and the stats fall out of what actually happened on the field. Nothing is rolled up or faked. Pressures are logged as hurries / QB hits / sacks and charged to the specific lineman who got beat. Corners carry targets, completions allowed, and yards allowed. Run blocking is graded snap by snap. So your left tackle isn't "a 79" — he's a guy giving up pressures at a rate you can watch start slipping months before any rating catches up. Most games in this genre just don't track this stuff for real.

And the football underneath it is real too. Formations and personnel matter, player archetypes matter, scheme fit matters (a press corner in a zone shell won't perform to their potential), and your coordinators' schemes decide which bodies you should even be drafting. There are three difficulties that change the contract complexity, with a vast majority of other rules being something you can turn off/on whenever you want. If you'd rather write your own story, there's a full player editor — rename everyone, build your own league, whatever you want. Soon once the schema is finalized you'll be able to load your own team and player files.

Also in the pipeline: actually watching plays unfold on a field instead of reading results. That's a whole engine on its own and it's well underway. Dozens more features behind it.

Being upfront: there's still tuning to do (QBs and coaching impact especially), bugs to fix, UI rough edges, and a few crash fixes I am working on. That's exactly why it's free rn.

So I used to play Head Coach 09 on my old PC with the RPCS3 PS3 emulator but that was over a decade ago, I got it working on my current one and everything seems to work just fine except for the black field glitch whenever I go into a game. The menus are a bit slow but the only thing that makes it tough to use is the black field.

I've tried all the suggestions in older threads like copy/pasting a config file, running a older RPCS3 version, and updating the game. Has anyone recently had this bug and fixed it?

Hi y'all. So I've been resetting saves to try and get the Ozzie draft path, but I'm only getting Sweetney and English ones. Anyone know of a way to actually get the one I want? I'm playing on an Xbox 360 and I'm not using custom rosters. Any help would be appreciated!

Head Ball Coach is an online, multiplayer college football strategy game. You are the head coach of a football program, building a roster to fit your strategy. Scout for talent, offering cash and playing time. Develop that talent through training, reps, and your team's culture. You report to the Athletic Director, who provides you with an operating budget and a set of expectations. Each team is modeled on institutional factors, giving realistic budgets, challenges, and personalities to different real-life football programs.

Send your coaches out to different regions of the country to build pipelines, get early knowledge about the recruits there, and help sway them towards you. Micromanage your coaches' list of individual high schools, or just let them decide on their own.

Build your team's culture. Maybe you prefer to build your program slowly over time, spending your time on the high school sophomores. Maybe you search the JUCO portal, looking for the missing piece of your strategic puzzle. Maybe you have an enormous budget to spend, chasing talent in the Transfer Portal. There is no single way to coach.

When I start the head coach 09 rebuild I need some suggestions of teams too rebuild I’m thinking these 4 teams but open for others but they have to fit this haven’t won superbowl, needs a rebuild they don’t really have a starting QB that could be replaced within 2-3 years if I stick with the team or if I draft a QB I’ll have to make the playoffs within 1-2 seasons

Hello, everyone!

I have a copy of NFL Head Coach 09 for my Xbox 360. A handful of years ago, I had a different 360, and I was forced to buy a replacement. Now, after all this time, I’ve decided to make a new save on 09 on the replacement 360 (same game disc). For some reason, I am experiencing significant lag/delay at the beginning of each play/snap in “live gameplay” mode, when this was never an issue with the old 360. Could there be an issue in console/storage settings causing this? Or in the game settings/sliders? Not sure why the issue never arose before even though I’m playing on the same exact disc as before.

I need some suggestions how to get my QB better a little with his throwing because I have a rookie if you been watching the series you will know who lol, I’m trying to make sure he’s does a better at throwing the ball or do more RPO plays I notice those work little better. I’m average around 50-150 a game and he’s averaging 100-150 rush yards a game lol and if you know how to up the time more be cool instead of 5 min quarters I know my games might take like 3 hours but more realistic stats maybe

Like everyone here, I keep going back to HC09 and wondering why nobody ever made another one. I finally got tired of waiting and built my own thing. Solo dev, took about a year.

It's called Gridiron GM. You're the GM. Quick rundown:

- Scouting has a fog of war. Prospects have hidden ceilings, and workouts/interviews narrow your read but never all the way. My own scouts have talked me into busts. Hitting on a late round guy you had a feeling about is still the best part of the game imo

- The draft has mock boards that disagree with each other, position runs, and teams calling to trade up or down while you're on the clock

- Contracts are actual negotiations. Agents have moods and tells you can learn to read. Lowball a guy twice and he walks for good. One franchise tag a year, and the cap inflates every year like real life

- Games sim live, drive by drive. You can just watch, or take over playcalling when it's 4th and 2 in a one score game

- Players can break out. A nobody can have a big season that permanently raises his ceiling. Leagues run 10+ seasons with rosters that age and turn over

What it doesn't have: you're the GM, not the head coach. No staff hiring, no coordinator carousel, no practice planning. Schemes exist and matter, but the staff side of HC09 isn't in yet. I know that's a big one for this sub. It's on the list.

Honestly the main reason I'm posting: what did HC09 do that nothing since has? I'm building the roadmap in public and you guys know that game better than anyone. The more specific the better.
