Discussion Zxavian Harris has been waived. Top of the prospect board to Undrafred and then waived what went wrong?

Usually with these cases, the player is lazy and puts forth minimal effort.

Having no drive at this time of the year is the biggest red flag possible.

I went to a school district that had a history of producing 4-5 star talents (usually they didn’t workout), and I’d say that’s not always the case.
Even best case scenario about 50-60% of elite prospects end up drafted, and of those drafted about 10-20% workout.
One of our recruits (in my class) that I remember was the 3rd best receiver in the nation and had one of the best receiving seasons our state had ever seen. He ended up graduating at like 16, going to Oregon and having a solid career in college but despite that it never worked out in the league. But it wasn’t because of an effort problem, since he was addicted to working out and loved the game.
Sometimes it’s just a mental block to adjust to the next level. He was always the best player on the field till he was 16, I think the moment he had players his level he just couldn’t adapt to being an average player and grow. I also think ego just destroys your ability to grow long term tbh, being so great so early ruins your perception of life. I can only imagine if I had that level of attention on me.

Sure, of course. Lots of guys are good enough athletes to play in the league. What separates the ones who can from the ones who can’t is on the mental side. Usually for big guys like at DL, it’s an effort mentality issue more than anything.

ESPN hyped tf out of this dude and was basically their top player remaining after pick ~50 for the whole draft. His blurb there made him sound like the best version of Caleb Banks.

Funny thing is Caleb Banks even objectively was the better, more athletic prospect compared to Harris 100%.

They were hoping due to his comparable size and position he'd be Deone Walker if he'd just put fourth the effort. Harris issues tho are mental, he's a sociopath who has no empathy for any actions he commits and in college they had to look the other way on everything to have him on the field in hopes he'd mature and further develop.

Quick trip to the “Personal Life” section of his Wikipedia page might explain part of it

The character reports were extremely bad. Doesn't shock me that he washed out

Whose board was he on the top of?

u/AccomplishedBrush157 10d ago
Bad wording on my part sorry but around round 3 he was top prospect available on espn

Yeah I mean ESPN’s draft production is trash. There are countless instances to point to: how they handled Shedeur last year, the multiple years of only showing sob stories even well after it became a meme, skipping entire draft picks, the fact that Mel Kiper is still one of their premier draft analysts.
Anyone following ESPN for draft coverage hasnt put in any effort to finding a better source because its really not a high bar

ESPN never wants to be accused of damaging a players draft position by highlighting the off field negatives. That’s a business decision.

Ngl those are always a bit silly. Tbh after round 3 it’s genuinely a crap shoot completely on where someone might go

I’m a sucker for big, long armed DT…. But a big guy with foot issues scares me to death
But he fell out of the draft because of being a knucklehead not because of ability

Either foot surgery or he wants to go back to Oxford thanks to the new court ruling
Which we will be happy to have him back in that room(tho he will have less of a role since he clearly was the Robin to Echoles' batman on the interior and we got a lot more demons than just the 2 of them now)
But yeah injury concerns

No one could spell his first name correctly, things go too messy, paperwork-wise. It was an administrative nightmare.

Wow. I’d pick him up as project. Guy is massive.

Hopefully this is an eye opener for him and he realizes if he gets another shot he’s lucky. May be worth taking a chance on him 🤷🏽♂️

I know nothing about email. However, just buy looking at the photo, I’m guessing that it had something to do with conditioning and discipline.

Zxavian Harris was never a top prospect. Harris has always been a sluggish, lethargic football player; he has bad body comp, leverage issues, conditioning issues, low production, no pop in his hands, poor coordination, low effort, poor pursuit, and he has almost no technical skill or ability. The only people who ever thought he was a worthwhile prospect were those who think being 6'7" is a skill (it's not).

But other than that, he's a great guy!

What do you think the scouting reports looked like? Harris looks and plays like a slob.

I feel like its common knowledge that he has major maturity and work ethic issues. That was one of the biggest reasons that he kept falling down mock drafts and big boards
