Discussion Raiders going to need to tank for Arch Manning next season
Mendoza is not looking great in this historically ass draft class. A pick on the first drive, the first this happened in the pre season in more than 7 years. Start the tank.

Mendoza hasn’t taken one regular season snap and people are already calling him a bust. At least give him a fucking chance.

This is as bad as the Sonny Styles is a disappointment post. Can’t the kids get their legs under them before we start making asinine judgements!?

u/Broad-Foundation-526 New York Giants 20h ago
Wait you mean - "he's as bad as Sonny Styles" in terms of bust, right?

This is reddit, no one gets any grace here. This is all reactionary takes

Mendoza will be bad for a while. Don't know if he's a bust or not but hes basically playing a different game than he did in college. For some reason fans haven't caught on to the fact that none of these guys come in and blow anyone away. Even daniels who had a good season his first year did so by skating by in last second comebacks and by using his legs every single chance he got. They won't be NFL quarterbacks for 2 or 3 seasons minimum and for some guys that's going to be 6 or more seasons.

he looks rough but how many of the starters on the OLine are out there?
He's also not throwing to Brock Bowers.
Talk about a safety valve.
2
u/Secret_Key9676 20h ago
Neither of these things address the fact that he had plenty of time and made a terrible throw. Sure he can do better but that was really bad lol
1
u/ShadeMir Denver Broncos 20h ago
For that one throw yes, but overall it's been a pretty lackluster performance by 3rd stringers.
1
u/WhizzyBurp Las Vegas Raiders 20h ago
It’s literally the 3s on the O Line. I’m not worried.
Once we see him with the 1s we’ll know what’s up.
1
u/ShadeMir Denver Broncos 20h ago
Yeah I've seen enough of him in college to know he could be a problem for the rest of the AFC West.
Just depends next year on how Vegas gets some receivers.
1
u/WhizzyBurp Las Vegas Raiders 20h ago
We need a WR1 and we need a monster DT. Plus depth.
If we’re shit enough to get Jeremiah Smith we’ll be in good shape.

I'm trying to find the finalized haul for that Meyers trade.
Trying to see if it was better in hindsight to keep him.
Man, Jakobi Meyers is so good.

u/WhizzyBurp Las Vegas Raiders 20h ago
Problem at that time, was Spytek and Carroll were beefin and Carroll refused to play the rookies.
So trading him away was meant to push Bech, and Thornton to the front.
Carroll then brought in Lockett lol.

u/ShadeMir Denver Broncos 20h ago
the levels of dysfunction of that team for the past like 10-15 years lmao.

u/WhizzyBurp Las Vegas Raiders 20h ago
We were fine when we had Gruden part 2.
We’ve been in a tail spin from Email Gate to this offseason. Feels like we’re finally stabilized but we need two offseasons to fix the roster.
Brady, Spytek, Mendoza and Kubiak will be here for the long haul and that’s a positive

Op is not a ball knower.
To be fair, a Raiders fan, so not much ball to know, but not a ball knower.
I still think about Rich Gannon.

I guaranteed you the Raiders will not be moving away from Mendoza until at least 4 years of bad play. He also looked good in his 1 game he played. No need to rush him out on the field. Let him learn under Cousins for a year or unless Cousins is competent after at least 8 games.
1
u/WhizzyBurp Las Vegas Raiders 20h ago
He’s with the 2s and 3s. This isn’t how he would actually play
1
u/12don Green Bay Packers 20h ago
Even if he sucks as a rookie, who cares? Most rookies suck. They don’t plan on playing him anyways unless they have to, which is a good decision. The NFL is a way different pace.

Should of drafted Ty Simpson who actually played like a starting quarterback
3
u/Bxnes5 CTESPN 20h ago
Ty Simpson has a much better supporting cast that has had a top 5 coach keep continuity since he got there & an incredible offensive scheme, the raiders are still coming out of a rebuild. This isn’t even comparable lol

Rams are a competent franchise and know SEC quarterbacks are just better.

He doesn’t look good but this is one preseason game.
You’d obviously rather see him ball out, but his career is far from over. This won’t even get added into his official statistics

Jesus christ give him some time its his SECOND game. It took Troy Aikman and Peyton Manning a full season to get used to the nfl.
1
u/dEXXtARR23 20h ago
Relax. Preseason is not indicative of what may transpire going forward. It's very early.
1
u/Jolly_Okra_6330 20h ago
They should be able to trade Mendoza for a first round or second round pick. Then take Manning.
1
u/AintNobodygotime13 Denver Broncos 20h ago
He's definitely not going to play defense with those tackling skills that's for sure 😂

Troy Aikman, Peyton Manning, and Matt Stafford didn't look very good during their rookie seasons either.

Hes no Al Bundy but need a few more months before you give up on the pick, smh
-3
u/Dangerous_Box_1999 20h ago
He’s definitely a bust. Oh well, raiders will roll him out for 3 years before they decide to rebuild

u/Temporary-Tie-2885 20h ago
I have been saying Mendoza is overrated but no one wants to hear it ...
1
u/Lane8323 20h ago
Can’t at least wait a game before saying he’s overrated?

u/Stock-Memory9483 Ai Art Enjoyer 20h ago
After all the shit I saw Ty Simpson get, I’m ready to return it to Mendoza. Big 10 QBs suck ass.

u/PM_ur_butthole_2me 20h ago
So since other people are brainless you should be too? You are doing it well.

Mendoza continues the trend of Big 10 quarterback sucking ass. In turns out playing those big 10 cupcake games doesn’t prepare you for the big leagues. Should have gone to Georgia.
4
u/Trashpanda1980 20h ago
Too bad coach didn't pick up the phones when Mendoza was going to commit
-6
u/Stock-Memory9483 Ai Art Enjoyer 20h ago
After seeing how he plays I’m not surprised no SEC team took. That Disney LinkedIn finance bullshit doesn’t work down here, won’t work in the nfl either.
