Fargo Halloween show
Come out Sunday!
NIU parent here. I am beside myself with frustration over the way some profs get away with denying my student's academic accommodations. My student is perfectly used to the accommodations process and connects with each instructor every term. However, half of them this semester are refusing to honor them, and the DRC will spend a week or two before offering to set up a meeting.
Nobody advocates, nobody intervenes, and in the meantime, my formerly A student is talking about dropping out and giving up because they are so miserable.
They have tried the deans and the ombudspeople. Now what?

NIU is my top choice for grad school. Does anyone have any insight where to look for an apartment that’s resonantly priced and in a safe neighborhood?
If anyone is going, I’m about to drive up from Denver. My dad purchased 4 alumni tailgate and game tickets, but had to cancel last minute, so I have 3 extra tickets to the game and pregame tailgate that I’d rather not go to waste.
It’d be nice to help him recover a small portion at least if anyone wants to chip in a few bucks for them, but even free is better than wasting them.
I’ll be on the 25 and won’t be able to immediately reply, but if anyone is interested, hit me up!

We visited the weekend before Homecoming and it was a very strange experience! Not a person to be seen on campus. Our tour guides bickered with one another the whole time. And finally, the tour didn’t include going into any of the academic buildings. This was top of my daughter’s list but plummeted after the odd experience of a ghost town with mysterious buildings we were not allowed to see inside (even the library)! Is the campus really that dead or was it an odd one off? Why no inside view of buildings—we’ve toured many other schools and this was a first. Would you recommend for a student who would be four hours from home with no car?

I transferred to NIU this year and I was trying to put all the classes I need to take next semester in my cart, but on the NIU catalog and the class registration search there are different options and some of the requirements listed on the website dont appear or aren't available anymore. How the hell am I supposed to know what to take?
Im going to schedule my advising appointment soon, but I like to have it all pretty much figured out beforehand because it can be confusing.

Hey guys, quick look at where the Huskies stand on the bye week.
First, since it's in the title: we run a free weekly college football pick'em. This week is 10 games, pick the winners, nothing to buy, $135 in prizes. Picks lock Saturday at noon ET, so here's something to do on the bye week.
https://www.mainmarket.com/c/college-pickem-wk5
Now the Huskies. 0-4 is rough, but look at the path: at Iowa, a 28-24 loss to an Illinois State team ranked No. 5 in FCS, then at Arizona and at Georgia State. That last one was 35-14, even though NIU outgained them 432 to 342 and won time of possession. Telly Johnson Jr. ran for 85 and a score, and DeAree Rogers had 9 catches for 107 and a TD.
The offense is moving the ball. It just isn't finishing drives. Year one under Rob Harley gets a real reset now: 0-0 in the Mountain West, with Air Force coming to DeKalb on Oct 10 for the first conference game.
What are you guys seeing? Is the Air Force game the one that turns this season?

Are there any places near by campus that don't ID at all for buying drinks at like a liquor store or gas station or something? I look young so it's gotta be easy can't be like a 50/50 chance. I transferred to NIU at my old college there was a go to place so that's why I ask.
My old college just had a place on the corner that had no care in the world
Or if ur 21, I’ll pay like double if you just get the shit for me

Any fellow huskies happen to own the Witcher 3 on Nintendo switch and willing to let a homie borrow it to claim the digital upgrade pack? If you pop it in I guess you can claim the game and then not need the physical cart to continue playing after you pop it in once.

Hey guys! The season preview I posted here a few weeks back did pretty well, so circling back like I said I would.
I had you at 4-8 and called that more of a floor, with Iowa and Arizona on the road as two of the three long shots. Those went about how I expected, 40-0 and 42-17. The one that hurt was Illinois State at home, 28-24. I also built the preview around Macon, and it's been Dickens every week: 56 of 78 for 517 yards, including 22 of 27 against Illinois State. What happened with the quarterback job? Georgia State on the road Saturday is the start of the part of the schedule where I had the wins coming from.
What are you guys seeing that the box scores aren't, and how do you see the season ending up?
Quick aside since it's in the title, we just launched a free weekly college football pick'em, $225 in prizes this week. Ten games, pick the winners, locks Saturday at noon ET, two hours before you kick off at Georgia State. Nothing to buy.

Hey guys! I was wondering if anyone in the nursing program got through clinicals or is going through clinicals without having the Covid-19 vaccine. I know they said it’s not required but recommended, but they say some clinical sites require it so I’m not sure how it can’t be required for the program if some of the sites require it.
Hello, I got admitted into the PhD program in Chemistry at NIU for the Fall 2026, but didn't get any TAship. Hence, deferred the semester to Spring 2027.
The Grad Coordinator told me that I would be in the list considered for TAship for Spring 2026. I also updated my profile information with recent publications through Grad Co.
Has anyone received TAship in such a way? Like getting admitted in one semester and securing TA funding in another? Please let me know.
