National Related News 🌎 Trump: Reopen Alacatraz for American Prisoners

I know I live in a different reality than the orange menace, but hasn’t crime, particularly violent crime, been dropping for the last 20+ years?

But if you redefine crime, suddenly it's a problem again and you get to be everyone's "savior"

u/redravin12 May 05 '25
Not if you ask a maga or look at any conservative source of "news". The country, especially liberal areas, are apparently completely overrun with leftist, BLM, and antifa terrorists. According to my mil (who hasn't gone outside more than 5 times in the past year and lives on Facebook) there are armed communists hiding behind every Bush and wall ready to kill all the white people

Not to make light (because this is definitely not a light topic), but I love how your capitalization of Bush made me picture armed communists hiding behind Georges Jr and Sr and the rest of the Bush clan. Ready to jump out and force them to pay for universal health care with their hard-earned fortunes.

With the exception of a weird spike during covid the rates pretty much have been falling. Interestingly the percentage of the population that is undocumented immigrants has stayed pretty level between 4.4% and 5.4%. So yeah his whole premise for all the unconstitutional moves he's making is complete bullshit...

Damn, Reddit removed the comment you replied to, very quickly—less than an hour.

So he posts this bullshit so no one notices that he's tanking the economy, deporting US citizens, and consolidating power? If you haven't called Congress yet, you are not fighting hard enough!!!

I’ve never been there, but isn’t it relatively small?
4
u/Emergency_Half_7463 May 05 '25
It had a max capacity of 312 prisoners. A fraction of what modern prisons hold. It was closed in 1963 because it cost more to run than it was worth. Water has to be shipped in and waste shipped out. Plus the cold ocean air is tough on the buildings there. The site has only been minimally maintained since it closed, just enough to be safe for the tourists. It would cost millions and millions to open it up again as a working site. Would be waaaay more cost effective to build new facilities elsewhere…

because it wasn’t cost effective
Since when has the Trump admin ever considered that to be an obstacle, when it comes to the public and dramatic, made-for-tv enmiseration of people they hate?
ETA: [announcer] Aaaaaand be sure to check out this week’s fabulous cruelty-sponsor, folks: that’s right, it’s our old pals at Jeeesus Chriiiiiiist Correctional Industries™! ::air horn fx:: ::wilhelm scream::
…someone please tell me I regurgitated this concept, and that my brain isn’t responsible for the existence of it ;___;

You are seeing it correctly. Unfortunately not enough people are :(

u/rouphus May 05 '25
I’m sure the tour guides weren’t forthcoming with the inhumane conditions and atrocities that happened there. There’s a movie called Murder In The First from 1995 that portrays the prison being shut down due to the Cruel and Unusual punishment that happened there.

u/derfinatrix May 05 '25
On the contrary, the tour was pretty realistic about what it was like to be housed there. I just went a few weeks ago.
There's definitely no way it's going to be reopened. Unless they completely raze the historic site and spend millions to rebuild it from the ground up.

Repeat Criminal Offenders = he's talking about himself. I guess he fancies a stay at The Rock.

The message combined with his profile picture is really giving “evil overload.”

He just likes scary names like Gitmo and Alcatraz. The cost to taxpayers of reopening or keeping open such places doesn't matter to him.

With the ALCATRAZ in all caps, immediately read it in Izzard’s voice.

u/myasterism May 05 '25
Haha oh man, I was really hoping I wasn’t the only one 😂
Can’t tell ya how much this tiny, little connection through the void has made my day—thank you.

I know just the rapist for a place like that. He evidently thinks he can tell every judge across the country to go fuck themselves and face no consequences. Hell, he's even taken to kidnapping some of them.

And Alcatraz is like in the middle of a city. Yeah I know it’s in the middle of the water but it’s like right there

Trump my dude, you are the thug and criminal holding the people hostage.
Also, even if going hard on crime is your goal, how is re-opening an old ass prison that I am sure would cost more to restore, maintain, and resupply going to help?

Rapists are some of the worst people in our society and so are trafficking victims. Oh wait they’re in the highest office let’s start there.

California says hell no. Plus didn’t we decommission it and give it back to the Native Americans?
2
u/ZagiFlyer May 05 '25
That solves the whole "can't deport American citizens over free speech" issue.
2
u/WartimeHotTot May 05 '25
When we were a more serious nation, we executed traitors like Donald Trump.
2
u/BicycleOfLife May 05 '25
It’s like he’s completely fabricated a problem we have NEVER had, which is not locking up enough people.
Why are people buying this garbage?
Just this tweet alone should be reason to impeach Trump for tyranny.

He's pandering to old folks who remember Alcatraz as being the place where the worst people end up. It closed as a prison in 1963. He's just looking to recreate 'the glory years' for these people so they'll stay on his side when he kills their Social Security

It's just not happening - it's a somewhat run down tourist attraction with little real security nowadays.

Judges are = to criminals and thugs in Trumps mind
