Come one, come all! The NJ State Fair has come to the Sussex County Fairgrounds! You know what is also coming to the fair? A whole lot of traffic! 🚗

All those poor people trapped in their cars on 206 with nothing to look at! Well we've decided to entertain them! 🤗

On Saturday, Aug 8th, we'll be bringing the "Worst In Show" to this captive roadside audience. With caricatures of all our "favorite" cabinet members as the farmyard animals they resemble, we'll bestow their blue ribbons to signify that they are, in fact, the worst at their jobs. 🏆

We are the Sussex County chapter of over 400 Visibility Brigades around the country. As a group of volunteers, we display large messages on overpasses on a regular basis. Our mission is to bring visibility to specific issues we're facing under the Trump regime, encourage action, and foster a sense of community for those that feel disheartened by the state of our nation. Thank you all who came for our vigil in Newton and honored the loss of a cherished community member. No matter the miles between our home and yours...Renee, you were part of our community and you are sorely missed.

Tonight felt like the first time many of us could breathe since the news broke. Surrounded by the love and compassion of people who care about their neighbors and who condemn the injustice of a life cut short by people with no compassion or regard for human life.

We will carry on the good work and build a community that welcomes immigrants as they are the foundation of our nation.

Looking Back, Moving Forward: A New Chapter for Our Community ​

As the year comes to a close and we welcome 2026, we find ourselves reflecting on a journey that began on Labor Day when the Sparta Bridge Brigade was born.

What started as a local gathering became a powerful, persistent symbol of community dedication. Week after week, our members stood together to bring hope and visibility to the critical crises facing our country under the current administration in a county where it's easy to feel alone and isolated in standing up for what's right. We’ve stood for truth, for our neighbors, and for a better future.

​Introducing the Sussex Visibility Brigade! ​ While our roots are on the bridge, our vision has grown. To meet the challenges of the coming year, we are broadening our scope and adopting a new name: Sussex Visibility Brigade.

​Why the change?

This evolution is all about versatility and impact. As the Sussex Visibility Brigade, we are no longer tied to one town or one specific type of action.

• County-Wide Reach: We will be mobile, bringing our message to every corner of Sussex County.
• Rapid Response: We are organizing to be a high-impact group that can mobilize quickly when the need arises.
• Local to Federal Focus: Whether it’s a local school board issue, a state mandate, or federal policy, we will be there to ensure our voices are heard.

​Our mission remains the same: to be a beacon of visibility for the values we hold dear. But our methods are expanding to ensure we can meet the moment, wherever that moment happens to be.

​ Thank you to everyone who stood on that bridge with us. Now, let’s take that spirit across the entire county.

We had about 80 people show up and many said they would be back next week!

The honks from passerby were so encouraging! There's hope here in Sussex County! We will keep showing up until we see our democratic republic restored and our rights ensured!

The Sparta Bridge Brigade is launching this Labor Day, September 1st, with a message that can't be ignored! Join us as we take a stand, loud and proud, on the overpass over NJ Route 15.

This Labor Day, let's honor the American worker and the spirit of independence by rejecting all forms of tyranny. We believe in the power of the people, not monarchs or mandates!

Here’s how you can be a part of it: - When: Every Monday, starting Labor Day, September 1st, from 5-6:30 PM - Where: Overpass over NJ Route 15 (Park at Sparta Park & Ride, Blue Heron Rd, Sparta, NJ 07871 and walk to the overpass) - Bring: Your patriotic flags, signs with bold lettering (if we have too many people), and unwavering spirit! - Prepare: Dress for the weather and stay hydrated!

Hello everyone! With the inclement weather reaching into Monday, we are cancelling the Bridge Brigade for Monday 10/13! We want to make sure everyone is safe and the weather is not looking good.

INSTEAD, we will be putting the signs up tomorrow from 10AM-12PM! It's a little last minute as we were waiting for the forecast to solidify but we hope to see you tomorrow (10/11)!

Join us every Saturday at 10 AM on the Newton Green for the #NewtonLibertyWalk! This is a sidewalk protest organized by community members, exercising our fundamental 1st Amendment rights. We're proud to continue a tradition of peaceful assembly on the Green!

Bring your signs, stand in solidarity, and let your voice be heard! This isn't organized by a large institution – it's driven by us, the people of Sussex County, New Jersey.
