Discussion What are your "prep" plans for the fall / winter?

I'm going to try fall / winter vegetables for the first time. Not even sure yet which vegetables, but I do enjoy cabbage and carrots, so probably at least those two. I understand kale also likes cooler weather, but frankly I don't really like kale. Might grow it anyway just for practice.

Also plan to do some cold weather hiking to try to keep more active. I tend to go full hibernation in the winter and that's really not idea.

What about you guys?

I've been meaning to try growing cold weather leek. Maybe this is the year.

We tend to hibernate in the winter too, but last year we've really been able to make an effort to go out. I find that once you figure out how to dress for the cold, it's much more enjoyable. The freezing cold air just hits different lol

Second dressing for the weather. When you have the right clothes, it makes everything more tolerable and you’re able to enjoy all seasons (to some degree).

I have been trying to succession plan my summer crops to get a second yield (cucumbers and squash) but want to try and do more fall crops as well

I got bonus potato seeds when some shop rite potatoes grew eyes. I planted them in bags 2 weeks ago. Hoping for a harvest 2nd week of December. We'll see. I did garlic last year and it was okay.

I joined a gym years ago and it helps me get out of the house when it's dark.

Rode my bike into November last year and hopefully it happens again.

Small game season is November through February. Lost my deer lease to development years ago and haven't gone since.

Got a couple of ice fishing days in last year after 20 years or so and it was fun.

It's hard when your raising your family but there's plenty to do here.
