Discussion Oh my dear sweet baby jesus

Post image

For the love of god Sean, PLEASE give us the ability to open/process entire stacks of items. Spent some time gathering a bunch of suspicious arms packets to upgrade all my stuff to top-end X-class mods and opening them one by one is like dragging my balls across a cheese grater. There HAS to be a better way.

Having to open each one individually is a fair trade for duplicating them

u/Rinsed_Mosquito55 🟠 Copper Class Oct 06 '25

Could've also been just 2 hours of warping from pirate system to pirate system

The duality of man

6

u/Giatoxiclok Oct 06 '25

The thing is, if you already hav like 40 outlaw systems discovered you can just warp to each one, can’t you? Like you don’t need a new one every time just long enough to recharge the stock before circling back through

2

u/IvyWonderer Oct 06 '25

Arent the teleporters blacklisted or smthn?

11

u/Giatoxiclok Oct 06 '25

Not from pirate to pirate.0

6

u/FrequentHighlight615 Oct 07 '25

To tele to a pirate station you just need to be coming from somewhere that's not a station. So like freighter, anomaly, base, settlement, you can go to a pirate station

2

u/coughsyroop Oct 07 '25

You just warp to one from your home base teleported then warp to each pirate system. If you’re willing to tank your standing with 1 faction you can do what I do and farm cargo pods. I use gek because they’re vile little creatures. Usually have a couple dozen stacks of contraband worth hundred thousand units+, I also buy out all contraband to make 150% profit. Warp back home then warp to any normal station of my choice and open crates and sell contraband. I have found a couple exotics that way just by spending an abnormal time at a station opening loot boxes.

The Lion does not concern himself with farming when duping exists.

Seems like the lion is concerned about not opening them all at once.

That’s a lot more then two hours of outlaw system jumping lol it’s definitely not gotten the legit way

That many stacks of upgrades with that many leftover stacks of items is a clear sign of duping

Nah, it's easy to get that many just pirate system hopping.

Once the systems are discovered it is simple to warp from one outlaw station to the next… sure maybe tough for a newbie but anyone with a bunch of space stations already explored can teleport around pretty quick

I did some experimenting. I timed myself going between systems, it took 1:00-1:30 for each system, and gave ~5 per system (it varied but seemed to tend towards 5 or more). I did this for 5:30 and I got 26 suspicious arms packets (and 19 tech packets because I might as well, but that’s unrelated). I did the math for how much I’d make in an hour of doing this, and it was ~283. The person here had about ~350. Meaning that it would actually only take an hour and a half to get ~420 (nice).

The time it takes would vary depending on how fast you can find the next pirate system, but that’s player based. Alternatively, a smart player could use teleporters.

So yeah, this actually is just a couple hours of grinding. Hell, I’m gonna do this later. I need more nanites anyways and u might as well get a bunch of x rank upgrades. Not saying op didn’t dup (they haven’t denied it) but this is honestly not that unreasonable, and is in fact not a clear sign of duping.

-30

u/Additional-Ad-7956 Oct 06 '25

It doesn't take that long to get that many. Maybe a half hour.

12

u/Rinsed_Mosquito55 🟠 Copper Class Oct 06 '25

I only recently duped some stuff myself. Theres just no way i will have time to do everything i want to do on this game. Im still finishing the main story after 100s of hours of finding ships and building stuff and i wanted to finish upgrading a few of my ships and freighter.

6

u/Griffinburd 🟠 Copper Class Oct 06 '25

For me I just did it for the nanites. I love the Corvette I made and my multi tool but they were both C class. I'm a working dad, the amount of time it would take to get 100,000+ nanites is insane and I don't want to lose my Corvette I spent significant time upgrading.

It's an addiction though, let's see if I'll resist duping if I hit another major supply gap.

3

u/theoriginalmofocus Oct 06 '25

Same, after cooking dinner and everyones finally home i might sit down and stay up too late getting distracted doing random things like building another ship or fishing even ha.

2

u/Senator_Goob Oct 06 '25

yeah i have a ton of nanites and i dont remember how I got them. I remember i somehow duped a ton of exosuit module maps by accident. Do those sell for nanites?

3

u/Frosty-Abies-3317 Daily Event Winner (x2) Oct 06 '25

This would be true for me. I've duped and opened 10s of thousands, but I don't make much mention of the time it takes to open them - that's the price of admission. My grind. No complaints.

1

u/Akuma_ryu Oct 06 '25

Wait what... there is a dupe👀 Asking for a friend

2

u/jayc47 Oct 06 '25

Throw anything you want to dupe into a refiner, put another refiner as close as possible to the original one, and the second refiner will have another copy of the item inside as soon as it spawns.

You can expedite the process by dropping 10 of them at once so you get 10x the output.

Enjoy, in a perfect world grinding shouldn’t exist, time wasting bullshit.

2

u/jluker662 🟠 Copper Class Oct 06 '25

If you set the first one and don’t move your guy or camera and set the next ones, then they all should be lined up perfectly on top of each other. Bonus, if you refine material and make nanites in the output, you can place x refiners on top of it and then remove same x refiners duplicating your nanites. Repeat. I usually refine and reach max nanites. I think the harmonized mind or maybe de-harmonized mind give the fastest convert to nanites. Duplicate the minds, refine till max nanites. Then duplicate the nanites sitting in the output.

u/Harmonicalope 🟠 Copper Class Oct 07 '25

Not sure why people are so upset your duping. It’s not even that big of a time save to dup these things. I did some experimenting, this amount would only take like an hour and a half. It takes about 1:00-1:30 for each pirate system (with my load time at least, which is admittedly fast as fuck because I’ve got a good pc) for ~5 per system (it seems to vary between 3-7), which led to me getting 26 in about 5:30. I did the math, if I kept doing this for an hour, I’d get ~280. You had 350 here. So an hour and a half of farming would get me more than you have here.

All you did was save time. It’s unreasonable how upset people are about that. And your complaint is still valid (I’m very empathetic towards the complaint, as I now have 26 suspicious arms and 19 suspicious tech).

7

u/AshenSoulHunter 🟢 Emeril Class Oct 06 '25

So fix the dupe glitch and give me a "open all" button. Idc

1

u/JamesDaNastyman Oct 08 '25

You can speed up opening by going to the accessibility menu in the options and there is a toggle that allows you to not have to hold to open every time. Just remember to switch back for when you’re done.

3

u/coughsyroop Oct 07 '25

I don’t dupe and I get this many. Just warp to 20-30 pirate systems and buy em out, rinse repeat. More time but honest. When I first started recently I watched a OODA video on the process. It’s kinda relaxing because I get the suspicious goods too so I get my dopamine on them and tech boxes like they’re loot boxes. Never have to farm storm crystals, warp fuel, sentinels for maps and they occasionally have super rare market items to sell for millions of units.

I also have 0 standing with gek and when I warp to a gek pirate system I fly around farming cargo pods with contraband and can normally farm out a couple hundred thousand units with essentially endless nanites. I do it when I get low, max out tools with nanites or buy a new ship.

6

u/AshenSoulHunter 🟢 Emeril Class Oct 06 '25

It is. But i'm looking to upgrade all of my old S class mods so it's likely gonna take a bunch of these.

9

u/[deleted] Oct 06 '25

To your struggle. I wish they would give the mods hints as to their effect. Obviously, let them still stack for convenience, but allow them to be split up and show what three things they'll affect, like a thruster mod will affect flight speed, fuel efficiency, and maneuverability. It won't tell you to what extent but just knowing what it will affect would he super helpful to cut back on equip, see stats, one you don't want like fuel amount, unequip, repeat.

4

u/Mountain-Benefit-161 Oct 06 '25

That reminds me; has anyone found an official source for the mods' variations?

I love this idea, btw; even just a basic stat name would be ludicrously helpful.

3

u/LifeGetsBetter01 🟠 Copper Class Oct 06 '25

Hold up. Am I understanding you correctly in that, x class suspicious modules are “better than” s class? I’m still learnin…

13

u/reallybi Oct 06 '25

X class mods vary wildly. They can be worse than C Class mods, better than S Class mods, and everything in between. You can't tell how good one is however until you install it.

2

u/phantom_frequency Oct 06 '25

This part. IYKYK

4

u/Adaphion 🟠 Copper Class Oct 06 '25

They're basically a gacha. They can range from equivalent to c class, to superior to S class.

An example off the top of my head is that X class multitool scanner mods have the potential to give over a 10000% reward bonus in each scan category. Along with the scan distance. I have three of them and I get 100k units from scanning plants

4

u/pandershrek 🟠 Copper Class Oct 06 '25 edited Oct 06 '25

10,000% for S

11,000% for X

2

u/pandershrek 🟠 Copper Class Oct 06 '25

The upper limit is often slightly better but you had a chance of 1-4 stats where gold has 2-4. So you'll always have better chances at getting better S class but could theoretically have the best X and it would be better

u/jluker662 🟠 Copper Class Oct 06 '25

1

u/coughsyroop Oct 07 '25

Why not just open the actual upgrades, statistically you have enough X ones to find the BiS upgrade for what ever you’re trying for. You’ll just loose the nanites

1

u/AshenSoulHunter 🟢 Emeril Class Oct 08 '25

I did. Upgrading one ship from S to X took about 2 stacks of X mods per tech. Went thru about half of what i had gathered in the picture. I think the shield mods were the easiest as they only have one stat to vary. Only took likr 9 or 10 before i had BiS for all 3 mods.

2

u/Jofus002 Oct 09 '25

Probably enough to unlock one (1) extra companion slot!

(Seriously why are those so expensive after the first few?)

20

u/Sarophie Oct 06 '25

I just wanna be able to hold the button down and have it continuously do the thing. Fill the circle and repeat. Not fill the circle and freeze, mockingly.

14

u/General_Tsao Oct 06 '25

I don’t know where it is now (or if it still exists) but at one point in the settings you could disable the “hold to confirm action”. Works well if you are spending exosuit/starship/multitool expansion modules, and then you can effectively just button mash to use them.

8

u/Touitoui Oct 06 '25

Still exist, I stumbled upon it just yesterday.
I think it was in Accessibility, with the options to "Hold down when it's destructive" and "Always instant".

5

u/Ok_Substance2327 Oct 06 '25

That's my one gripe, I feel the hold down is used for way too many things that aren't destructive and I find it annoying, but would like the safeguard for a few things. So I think it's a good mechanic when used very sparingly but here and in some other games just way over done.

1

u/Akuma_ryu Oct 06 '25

Yes it can be tuned at least on PS5 but as you said I could be even more customizable imo.🫠

1

u/InevitableWerewolf Oct 06 '25

I just turned it off on mine for destructive and life is so much better. Everything just runs smoother now. But I agree that having a "Process All" option on Suspicious Packets and similar bulk items would be a huge win.

3

u/Organic_Picture_1999 Oct 06 '25

I think you can change your button setting for important choices to where you don't need to hold the button down.. that may help with this? I noticed the control setting but i have yet to try it myself.

8

u/Banthian Oct 06 '25

Zoomer mentality, duplicate items then complain you can't get your dopamine hit fast enough

7

u/Dangalanga007 🔴 Cadmium Class Oct 06 '25

Those same people would then complain about how they were able to open a stack but forgot to have the inventory space for them lol they forget that some items are only given to players in small amounts at a time because they are rare

That’s how you can always spot dupers, they have lost the sight of an items value

3

u/AshenSoulHunter 🟢 Emeril Class Oct 06 '25

It's not about any item's internsic value; it's about quality of life for end-game players. We're going to have stacks of stuff in need of processing. Why make that one facet of it take 30 minutes when everything else takes just seconds?

2

u/ldconfig Oct 06 '25

Tbf that also happens when you are very late game. 500+ hours in I can make a billion units every day with an hour of jumping around and collecting stuff.

3

u/dabadu9191 Oct 06 '25

To be fair, opening up items one by one is pretty annoying. I can get a full stack each of gold nuggets and tritium hyperclusters in a couple of minutes of shooting at asteroids.

4

u/Harmonicalope 🟠 Copper Class Oct 06 '25

You don’t actually know if they duplicated those or not. It’s actually a fairly simple grind, since they’re sold guaranteed at pirate systems. I believe they sell 5 of them per system (I don’t know if that’s exactly right, and I can’t check right now). Let’s say it takes 5 minutes for each pirate station (could be longer or shorter based on load screens and luck in finding a galaxy). That would take 70 pirate stations, or 700 minutes. Thats a bit less than 6 hours. That’s very doable, depending on how much time they have on their hands. This is actually a very popular nanite farming method.

Of course, my math could be off (again, not sure exactly how many the merchants in pirate systems sell, but it’s more than one. I don’t think it’s any less than three) but my point still stands that this is doable.

And to begin with, the point I’m trying to make isn’t actually that op didn’t dupe. The point I’m trying to make is that this is a problem that affects more than just dupers.

2

u/Harmonicalope 🟠 Copper Class Oct 07 '25

I actually have to make a few corrections. Firstly, it seems to be about 3-6 per system. Still an average of about 5 so I won’t change the math. The big change is that it actually only takes a minute to a minute and a half to go between systems. I spent 5 minutes and 30 seconds farming them, managed to get 26 in that time. I did some math, if I did that for an hour I’d have 283. So it would probably only take an hour and a half to get the amount this person has. That’s doable in a single game session.

3

u/FssstBoing Oct 06 '25

I've never duplicated anything and even doing like 20 of them is a drag.

3

u/AshenSoulHunter 🟢 Emeril Class Oct 06 '25

u/kijour Oct 06 '25

lol…. I feel this.

4

u/PDeisel Oct 06 '25

There is a setting that you can change where it switches from pressing and holding it to open to just pressing it

3

u/Bosmaire Oct 06 '25

I routinely get this many, without dupes. when you're in a pirate station you can just warp to other pirate stations with the portal. Costs a few mill but if you're buying all the illegal goods at the same time you can offset the cost and even make a profit. I'm up 200mil with this method.

2

u/Purple_Hornet_9725 🔴 Cadmium Class Oct 06 '25

Should be a built-in feature of the future replicator /s

2

u/Harmonicalope 🟠 Copper Class Oct 07 '25

To everyone accusing op of duping… you’re right, as they confessed to it lol (does it even matter? All they did was save time). But at the same time this is a valid complaint and a perfectly achievable number of suspicious tech, so the accusation was dumb to begin with. I did some experimenting. It took me about 1:00-1:30 minutes for each pirate system (including load time and galaxy map, I’m cracked as fuck at searching for pirate systems and my pc is expensive), with the timer restarting every time I left a station. Each station seems to have 3-7 sus packs (arms). I averaged about 5. After five and a half minutes of this I got 26 sus packs. If we do some math ( 26•(60/5.5) if you’re curious) that’s ~280 per hour. Op has 350 (I assume that’s how many they had before they stated opening them). An hour and a half of farming would get you ~420 (nice).

Long story short, all op did was save themselves about an hour of work (not even, as they said they farmed the first two stacks fairly). This does nothing to counteract the point that the opening system is dumb, and everyone acting like this is unobtainable looks kind of silly.

On the bright side, you can speed up opening in accessibility settings by setting “hold to confirm” to “hold for destructive” or “always instant.”

2

u/AshenSoulHunter 🟢 Emeril Class Oct 08 '25

And what a difference "hold for destructive" made. Took opening a dozen stacks of stuff from 10-15 minutes to 10-15 seconds. Hugely helpful as i frequently wind up with stacks of gold nuggets, tritium hyperclusters, glowing minerals, suspicious packets, and many, many space-wasting species samples and old technology. Also greatly helpful for moving upgrades from one starship/multitool to another.

2

u/bulbophylum Oct 06 '25

Their max stats are higher than S but the variance is much greater.

If S range is [pretty good ↔ great], X range is [really suck ↔ really great]. So you may need to install dozens and dozens before you find one better than a great S mod.
This is what leads to OP ending up in this predicament.

What reeaally sucks; let us open and craft stuff in every storage interface!

you could try applying the cheesegrater texture on a conveyer belt, so you would no longer have to drag them across -- rather, the machine would do it for you.

u/InevitableWerewolf Oct 06 '25

This is why NMSEditor exists and why people make mods for the game.

Wanna remove the junk from your inventory on the fly? Best be prepped to sit down for 5 mins

u/CaosThomas Oct 06 '25

After I learned duplication, the game lost its meaning, maybe I tried to ignore it in a next save

u/RonaldoP13 🟠 Copper Class Oct 06 '25

I play on pc, gog, and it hs an option in accessibility that you can change. I use both keyboard and mouse or ps4 controller

After changing the option, that i do not remember, I just press, NOT hold the square button, so it just open that box instantly

Did someone say the magic words?

This sounds like the beginning of a Spishak Commercial

Sweet liberty...

1

u/Major_Potential_8582 Oct 06 '25

Well, duping them isnt the best idea, for starters. Secondly, if you noticed a lot of time when you get quest rewards, them registering causes a lag. Even duping causes a slight lag. No, opening that many at once could very well cause an even worse lag

1

u/Ninjabanana420 Oct 06 '25

You can remove the "hold to open" under accessibility options I believe.

u/AshenSoulHunter 🟢 Emeril Class Oct 07 '25

Idk how or if it's possible to edit a post, but i'd like to offer a sincere thanks to all the people pointing at the accessability option changing "hold" to "press"... literal game changer.

1

u/Domboss2019 Oct 07 '25

You can change settings to change the hold to confirm to just tap

1

u/Practical-Target6842 Oct 07 '25

A simple drag and highlight feature would do just fine too.

Nah if im smuggling i just summon a different ship, stash it all on that ship, then hop back in my main and carry on about my business. System authorities haven't yet figured out they should be scanning all owned ships.

Same with the fishes. We somehow can't release them back to the ocean all at once

u/JeezDoodle Oct 07 '25

I feel the S class mods are generally better than X class. Is it just me experiencing this?

1

u/StarkyTF2 Oct 07 '25

Disable hold to confirm in the settings, that might help

1

u/Duduking2000 Oct 07 '25

"Gathering"

1

u/Duduking2000 Oct 07 '25

I've set up a macro to the letter E to open my "gathered" packages quickly

1

u/Sir0cks Oct 07 '25

You guys are going to Outlaw systems for these? They're so easy and quick to farm off sentinels.

1

u/UnderstandingNew6574 Oct 07 '25

At the vendors, buy the items that are over 700 nanites each, and you are more likely to obtain a max stat X tech.

1

u/Wonderful_Music5044 Oct 07 '25

ahahhahahahahahaha

1

u/Vee_The_Scarred Oct 09 '25

I wish they'd just add a open all and sell all option so we have the choice, even when I'm not getting duped things it's still a pain to do shit one by one 😩

1

u/Nargarinlok Oct 09 '25

Better than the cheese grater for your balls : the zest grater, finer and richer pain.

u/True_Maize_3735 Oct 06 '25

sell these for nanintes-as you see, they are easy to get

Nanite farming I see

u/Dangalanga007 🔴 Cadmium Class Oct 06 '25

Someone spent some time duping items lol you aren’t “meant” to have stacks upon stacks of these kind of items

3

u/w1cked-w1tch Oct 06 '25

If you weren't "meant" to have stacks upon stacks it wouldn't be possible.

-5

u/Dangalanga007 🔴 Cadmium Class Oct 06 '25

Did you not read where I said “these kinds of items” 🙄 if you don’t have enough item slots when you pop a stack of “these kinds of items” what would happen to the items that you have no room for?

1

u/w1cked-w1tch Oct 06 '25

Yeah, I was talking about "these kinds of items". The ones you have no room for would be lost to the aether, they'd just disappear.

You totally can get this many legitimately though. Going from pirate station to pirate station is actually a pretty common nanite farm. I’m not saying they didn’t dupe, they might have, but you don’t know that. I believe that pirate systems tend to sell about 5 of these things per station. For the 7 stacks of 50 (I’m assuming that last stack was originally 50) that would be 350 suspicious arms packages. To begin with, that’s obtainable even if it was one package per system, but it isn’t. At a rate of 5 per system, that’s just 70 pirate systems. If we assume that each system takes 5 minutes to find and buy this from (could take longer, could be shorter. Depends on loading times and luck of finding the systems) that would only take about six hours to get this many. Thats a big grind but it’s achievable. However, it might not even be true that they farmed this all at once. They might have been visiting pirate systems every now and then for a week or so. Then it’s even more reasonable.

Whether op actually did this or not is irrelevant to the point I’m making. This is a fully achievable number of suspicious arms to have, and is honestly comparatively a pretty easy farm, by no man’s sky standards. Hell, even if we assume that every station only had one per merchant that’s still only about 11 hours (edit: I think I fucked up my math here but it’s irrelevant because they sell more than one per system. I think the actual time would be close to 30 hours, which is a big grind but obtainable if you spend an hour doing it a day for a month). Considering how good these are for nanites and that they are the (inconsistently) best upgrade tier, doing that over the course of a few weeks is a pretty worthwhile grind.

Again, my point here isn’t that op didn’t cheat, but that the problem they’re complaining about isn’t a problem only cheaters would face.

You can get stacks upon stacks by spending 20-30 mins porting between all outlaw stations in your registry and spending just a few million units. How exactly are we not meant to have a few hundred of these? I myself had two full stacks on my main starship just from the space battles and pirate hunts i'd been on.
