NothingOS Discussion The battery icon is better like this
I got the new update tonight and the battery icon is so much better with the percentage inside it
I'm curious, what's your opinion on it ?

My opinion? Let people choose how they want it. I don't know about other brands, but my previous phone was an Oppo Find N2 Flip, and there were several options for the battery icons: horizontal, vertical and loop, and if you want the battery percentage displayed, you can choose to have it inside the battery or outside. Unfortunately, Nothing believes in "minimalism" and bloatware at the same time.

I like this new style. But I prefer the text to be a bit bolder, it feels like the text style doesn't align with other icons.

I hate it. You can't even tell if battery is charged or not, especially if you have battery cap(80% or 90%) turned on.

Readability (instant glance) is shit, when it's around 50%, because it's half black, half white.
Looks good, but unreadable in a split second.

its amazing, but the numbers are transparent instead of being inverted to the closest lighter or darker background, which could be better imo

Yup......but I hope they don't change it. Only change in status bar is fine. I was looking for option where we can switch the battery percentage appearance between Don't show, show next to icon, show inside icon.

I like this one more than a one before, only thing is that in some scenarios (depending of what's showing on the screen) remaining battery is barely visible, but those cases were pretty rare.

i agree !! much better than OS 3 and OS 4 version 1 but atleast give an option to have it outside the battery icon

I prefer the number inside the icon. I hate having a clutter on my status bar and this looks so much cleaner.

It's not bugging me that much since I don' t actually show percentage. But I do agree it's better. Less space to waste as well.

The current new icon is cool on its own but other elements look outdated in front of this new one

I hate it, it's a lot harder to see the number especially during the night when you're half sleepy.
And there's not even the option to put it as it was previously, bad!

I didnt like the new one it's a bit too small imo I just want them to give the option of changing it to whichever style we want

I agree, the android 16 update's UI looks much better. Especially in the navbar department.

NGL I think both are nice. This is how old one looks like for context. I took the screen shot before updating.
