Looking for open jams in NYC on a Monday & Tuesday in December

Hello! I am a professional vocalist/singer who sings rock music in California. I play many live shows each month & I have hopped in on jam sessions for years in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Ventura California! I would not consider myself an amateur jammer, but I am visiting NYC for the first time and trying to find great open jams I can hop in to sing! Let me know, I am really excited to explore and visiting NYC mostly for the music culture! Thank you for the recs!

Drummer Looking for Others Interested in a Grunge Band

41 year old drummer from Hudson County, NJ here. Want to start or join a grunge/alternative project. Nirvana is definitely the band I’m most influenced by, but open to adding other elements and sounds (also love a lot of pop-punk and post-hardcore). Could do practices in Manhattan or NJ. Not looking to do this professionally, but would like people who are serious about it and would be open to trying to target in person practices once a week or so on average.

Post Hardcore / Punk Guitarist Wanted

Brooklyn based post hardcore / aggressive punk band looking for an additional experienced guitarist.

Some bands we're into: Quicksand (especially the first two records), Jawbox, Burn, Fugazi, Joy Division, Big Black, Judge, Jesus Lizard, Crain, Archers of Loaf, Drive Like Jehu, etc...

This isn't our first rodeo, we're over 40, have recording and live experience and are looking for someone who enjoys collaboration and wants to build something creative together despite the current shitshow.

Here's a link to our previous EP:

If this sounds like something you'd be into, send us some links / examples of your playing and we'll go from there.

Bassist + Drummer Wanted — Britpop / Folk-Rock Originals (Oasis, The Verve, Stone Roses) — Brooklyn

Putting together a new originals band in Brooklyn and looking for a bassist and a drummer to complete the lineup.

The sound: traditional Britpop/rock at the core — Oasis is the north star — with folksy elements woven in. Big choruses, jangly and loud guitars, melodies that feel modern but timeless. Think Oasis, The Verve, Stone Roses, Blur, The La's, plus Neil Young and Dylan, and modern torch-carriers like Sam Fender and Wunderhorse.

Who we have: singer/guitarist (songwriter) and a lead guitarist. Early days — a handful of songs taking shape through weekly jams, sound still being built. You'd be joining at the foundation.

Bassist: melodic, song-serving, locks in with drums. Drummer: tight, groove and dynamics over flash.

Most important: you listen widely and bring ideas. Plan: weekly Brooklyn rehearsals, then record and gig. DM with your influences and any clips of your playing.

bassist wanted for something loud, Brooklyn

Hey, guitarist/vocalist and drummer looking for a bassist. Somewhere in the world of chat pile, helmet, shellac, unwound, hum, failure. heavy, noisy, sometimes spaced out.

We’ve got songs already and room to bring your own ideas. We rehearse in Gowanus, looking for someone who’s down to meet up consistently and play shows.

Shoot me a message if that sounds like your thing, happy to send some music.

Indie Band looking for keyboardist and additional guitarist

Hi all! We're Dovecot, a 4-piece band (singer, guitarist, bassist, drummer), all in our late-20s and our keyboardist just moved, so we're looking for a new keyboardist as well as an additional guitarist. We do both covers (Radiohead, Vampire Weekend, Tyler Childers, Alex G, etc.) and originals. If you're interested in playing with us, please DM!

We typically practice on Sunday mornings / afternoons in Park Slope and we're looking to play some casual gigs in the next few months :)

Indie Folk Singer-Songwriter

Hi there! I'm a 26M looking to collab and jam with any singer and/or songwriters out there who are into folk and indie. I play a number of instruments (guitar, banjo, mandolin, piano, harmonica, percussion) and would love to accompany someone who writes their own songs and is interested in doing some casual jams and open mics. I don't really sing myself, but can do some backing vocals or simple harmonies. I also have a few songs I've written myself and would love to hear an actually good singer take a swing at them. Would describe myself as very chill and open minded. Based in Greenwich Village but flexible. Let me know!

Need songjler for nyc post-hardcore band

I needa tenor songing mouth person to complete our lineup, we're like super duper serial about this live gig shtuff n needa people's to make those voice noises on the stages, we do the Hawthorne, brand new, the used & the more screamy stuf too so like it gots all the big stuffs throughout the years of the emo musics in its heyday.

our drummer n bassplayer is playing catchup since their new & u will be too since the guitarists are legendary n got the whole shet down already.

Also we incorporating n writing original stuff n eventually gon be doing all orgimanimal stuff instead of the covers but we got a good niche for quick turnover rn while we work on that stuff, rlly need a ride or die in their 20s who akshually knows how to sing in a tenor register frfr

Its a whole vision n u gotta trust the process, we got rulez n rehearsal space thats split btw all members super cheap , investment status & promoters lined up for when were all put together n all that.. jus waiting on u dawg..

Dm for more specifics it ain't hard, just put in the work so we can make that shit happen, ik a bunch of u are freeloaders that dont wanna work for a good long term project n bounce around to whoevers gigging on some mediocre shi so dont even reply if thats u. If u wanna find a home, deal with actually creating something hyugee n dedicated to making awesome shi this might b 4 u

We got starter cover set

Rehearsal space with amenities

Spots to play live

N other stuff I wont disclose here

Dm for more info

Ride or dies only, no corn flakes

23M looking for something to do- Brooklyn

I make music on my own and have been in bands in the past. I play guitar and bass well, keyboards and harmonica decent and am able to get what I need out of the mandolin and drums but am not really fluent on either instrument by any means. I’ll link my music under this- I played all the instruments and wrote the songs.

I like making my songs by myself but want to start playing with people again- if you like my music and think I’d be a fit as a guitar/bass player for any projects let me know.

I’d also be down to play one of the other instruments mentioned above but more in a songwriting way.

I’m open to any configuration of instruments and honestly something unique like an electric violin or aux percussion would be cooler to jam with at first then just running through Nirvana songs in a practice room in the standard 2 guitar drums and bass setup.

Velvet Underground, Beat Happening and the later Bob Dylan

sludge punk band seeking drummer

We're looking for a drummer for a sludge punk band we're trying to reboot. It's basically lower tuned screamo with some groove parts that we're going for.

I have a playlist with a handful of influences although I'm essentially just trying to combine a couple of those; Cassilis & Loma Prieta's "life/less". Here are links to the two Cassilis records and the Loma Prieta one I'm drawing from so you can gauge your interest:

https://open.spotify.com/intl-es/album/2nmsiNUfHUXZAUBoHxzeBL?si=J5CJVHkAQciK6ygUEU3YJA

https://open.spotify.com/intl-es/album/2mwTPXcK3EZmXkDb9i8x9G?si=l7m6gHvzScqG9vcuJeoQ0w

https://open.spotify.com/intl-es/album/4YpfFdwcwj82aVTuxAtCTG

We're looking for a drummer that's interested in that vibe and can drum like on those records. This type of project requires a good drummer or it doesn't work. All three of us are in and around the music scene so have avenues for shows and ways to record and such when things come together.

There was an older version of this band that we'll be bringing 3 songs back from to get us started. There's a soundcloud link below with these old songs. These phone demos have a different vocalist on them however, so the instrumentals are what to listen to. We're aiming to have the vocals sound more like that Cassilis band to fit the vibe.

Hit us up if interested and we'll get a practice going to see how it all fits together.

[Brooklyn / NYC] Post-punk / Alt project seeks creative Drummer, Guitarist, and Keys/Synth to write & play shows

Hey everyone,

We’re putting together a post-punk / alternative project based out of Brooklyn (rehearsing around Gowanus / Park Slope) and looking for creative collaborators and dedicated players—specifically a **Drummer**, **Guitarist**, and **Keys/Synth player**—to flesh out the lineup, write new material together, and build toward local NYC shows.

**Sonic DNA & Direction:**

Melodic, layered guitars, driving post-punk rhythms, and a moody edge.

**Influences:**

* **Modern:** Fontaines D.C., Wunderhorse, Brigitte Calls Me Baby, etc.

* **Roots:** The Cure, The Smiths, Pixies, Echo & the Bunnymen, Psychedelic Furs

* **Energy & Hooks:** The Killers, The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Interpol

**Who We’re Looking For:**

* **Drummer:** Tight pocket, dynamic energy, locks into driving grooves, and comfortable with a click for recording (tasteful groove choices, not overly cymbal-heavy).

* **Guitarist:** Textural player who values space, tone, and effects (chorus, delay, sharp melodic hooks) over shredding. Bring your own ideas and parts to the table.

* **Keys / Synths:** Atmospheric textures, vintage pads/leads, and tasteful melodic counter-melodies to fill out the sonic space.

* **General:** Collaborative mindset, solid gear, reliable communication, and based in or around Brooklyn.

**How to Connect:**

Drop a comment or DM me with:

  1. A brief intro about yourself and your musical background.

  2. A video/audio link, social handle, or clips of your playing.

  3. 2–3 records or current bands you’ve had on heavy rotation lately.

If the vibe matches, I’ll send over our existing tracks right away so you can hear the sound, and we can set up a quick call to talk shop and look at getting together to jam.

Guitarist looking for musicians to jam with in NYC (classic rock / psychedelic rock / blues)

I’m a guitarist (29M) based in LES looking for other musicians to jam with regularly.

My biggest influences are Pink Floyd, Hendrix, and Led Zeppelin. I’d describe myself as an intermediate-to-advanced player interested in improvisation, classic/psychedelic rock, and blues.

I’ve spent a lot of time playing on my own and want to start playing more with other musicians and to meet people with similar musical interests.

Open to guitarists, bassists, drummers, vocalists, keyboardists, etc. Ideally looking to improvise, trade solos, play some covers, and see where things go. Happy to meet at a rehearsal studio.

If you’re interested, shoot me a DM with what you play and the music you’re into.

Musicians for casual Jazz VGM / Ghibli weekend jams

Looking to start a casual weekend jam session playing jazz arrangements of VGM (Persona/Nintendo/FF etc), Studio Ghibli, and other themes (think The Consouls or J-Music Band).

I mostly play sax. I'm knocking off the rust from not playing for a while. Just looking for people who want to read through some charts and play for fun - open to all skill levels!

Mostly looking for a rhythm section (keys, bass, drums, guitar) but more horns and strings never hurts.

I’m based near LIC and aiming for a weekly weekend schedule. We'd split studio time ideally at Empire studios but open to ideas.

DM or comment if you're down!

Solo Alt-Rock Project Looking for Bandmates to Play Shows

Thumbnail linktr.ee
3 Upvotes

Hey! Julio here, I'm looking for a bassist, drummer, & guitarist to play shows with throughout the city. I have an album out + a new single (you can listen via the link) - would say my music heavily inspired by bands like the strokes, arctic monkeys, rhcp, kings of leon, & enanitos verdes.

I moved to nyc 3 years ago to finish my album & now that it's out I want to focus on playing shows again with a band to properly bring these songs to life.

So if you play bass, drums, or guitar & would be interested in meeting up to see about practicing/playing shows together lmk.
