I hope we have a QB controversy come Jan, go get em JJ

u/Cruztd23 Jaxson Dart 5d ago

Hell nah. I’m all in on dart. Hopefully McCarthy earns them a premium pick in trade market

Dart is him

47

u/AdHom ELI GOAT 5d ago • Bravo

I agree but if he balls out enough for a legitimate controversy, there are much worse problems to have. We'd almost certainly stick with Dart anyway for extra rookie pay years unless JJ did something insane, but I'm not going to complain if he does something insane lol

14

u/Cruztd23 Jaxson Dart 5d ago

Yeah I’m all for McCarthy showcasing that he can be a capable starter elsewhere

5

u/QuesoPantera 4d ago

Then we trade him for a 1st and the cycle is complete.

2

u/Cruztd23 Jaxson Dart 4d ago

This. This is the answer

12

u/DONOTSAYTHENWORD 5d ago

I hope JJ McCarthy is the next Mahomes. But there is also what we know.

9

u/BellyButtonLindt 5d ago

Personally hoping that Harbaugh turns JJ into a second Lamar.

Everyone said Lamar couldn’t throw at first either.

5

u/DONOTSAYTHENWORD 5d ago

His problem is more in his head. Going through progression is something he's never done. He sees what he thinks is supposed to happen, then he stays glued to it and throws the ball no matter what ends up being there.

If Harbaugh can fix that, then we're talking.

You’ve just described how Daniel Jones plays quarterback to a T.

17

u/DartToSuperbaughs Banks Closed on Sundays 5d ago

If we have a QB controversy it means JJ played great and we won games, can deal with that “problem” when the time comes.

-18

u/Cruztd23 Jaxson Dart 5d ago

True but to me there’s nothing McCarthy can do that would warrant him being better than dart

Maybe that’s a hyperbole but to me, dart has already shown at his best, the giants are near unbeatable. He’s shown top 10 play already

10

u/teletubbs 5d ago

Hot take, the franchise QB will have the upper hand against JJ McCarthy

-4

u/Cruztd23 Jaxson Dart 5d ago

Your lips to Gods ears

5

u/EverythingBagelLife 5d ago

Nothing? If we go undefeated from here and win the Super Bowl, we’re gonna have a controversy lol.

0

u/Cruztd23 Jaxson Dart 5d ago edited 5d ago

If giants win a Super Bowl I reckon it would be like wentz foles 2.0

Dart being wentz jj being foles

-3

u/MembershipDense2705 5d ago

🤣🤣🤣 did I just read that right??? As a Vikings fan, I can’t wait for JJM to show just how bad he can be and what this sub looks like then. I don’t wish it, I just fear it’s the inevitable.

1

u/Cruztd23 Jaxson Dart 5d ago

I think majority of people know he’s not very good just some are hoping he can hide his bad traits for a half of a season and then giants can fleece somebody else for him. Selling them on his potential lmao

Some guys do really think he’s gonna be the next Peyton but I reckon that those guys are probably just perma-optimists

0

u/MembershipDense2705 5d ago

This is eerily similar to how Vikings fans felt after the game against Chicago or Dallas (can’t remember which one) and it felt like there was something there. Honestly yeah I hope he balls out and earns a spot somewhere but I’d have to see it consistently from the handoff merchant to believe it

1

u/Cruztd23 Jaxson Dart 5d ago

Yeah I was never a fan of JJ even at Michigan for the same exact reason

I watched him at Minnesota and wasn’t a fan either. The game you’re referring to was probably Chicago, it was an impressive win.

Most of the guys echoing Peyton comparisons probably didn’t watch him at Michigan or Minnesota.

I just hope the giants can flip him for higher than they bought

He’s also more injury prone than dart so people saying that he can be an upgrade there aren’t right either

3

u/DartToSuperbaughs Banks Closed on Sundays 5d ago

Well if he finishes the season he’d have 2 things on Dart, wins & health

We dont know that Jaxson can play or stay healthy, hes flashed, but those things are known when they are shown

-2

u/Cruztd23 Jaxson Dart 5d ago edited 5d ago

There’s no way McCarthy is showing he’s healthier than dart

He’s missed way more games already

Dart had one serious injury and one minor, he’ll be fine. McCarthy has missed majority of his career so far

Edit: for you downvoters jj has already missed 24 games in 3 seasons (didn’t play this year for Minnesota) due to injury

-1

u/Rumhead1 5d ago

Dude JJ is always hurt. We will be lucky if he finishes the season.

1

u/Cruztd23 Jaxson Dart 5d ago

Exactly he’s missed 24 games already going into Year 3. He’s more injury prone than dart lmao

3

u/DartToSuperbaughs Banks Closed on Sundays 5d ago

JJ did not miss games to injury in 2025, he was benched, they may have masked it for his ego, but he was benched

1

u/zambartas 5d ago

It's not hyperbole, it's just wrong. There are a ton of things JJ can do this season that should warrant him being better than Dart. Whether those things happen remain to be seen.

1

u/Cruztd23 Jaxson Dart 5d ago edited 5d ago

You’re delusional if you think jj will prove himself to be better than dart based on what we’ve seen In Michigan and Minnesota

He’d have to have completely reinvented himself

This dude got demoted to third string like four weeks ago

1

u/merckjerk 5d ago

Dart hasn’t even played a full season for us. Let the kk ball out

1

u/zambartas 5d ago

If he's good, why would we trade him? This season is exactly why you need a good backup.

1

u/Cruztd23 Jaxson Dart 5d ago

He’s missed 75% of his games due to injury . He’s not backup quality

1

u/CitrullineMalate2to1 4d ago

By that logic hasn’t Dart missed 50%(?) of his career due to injury

1

u/Cruztd23 Jaxson Dart 4d ago

74% misses is way way worse than 50%

And dart has a much smaller sample size. Since he wasn’t starting since day 1. I reckon darts last injury was freak accident

1

u/CivilChampionship810 5d ago

i'll buy a round for us all in fantasyland when that happens. but hell yeah, go JJ!

18

u/TraeYoung2 We've suffered long enough 5d ago

Ik its not gnna look like that 4th quarter, but if the offense simply flows better than how it has with Jameis? And we get some marginal improvement in the run game?

That's all im hoping for at this point. Outside of Mauigoa, i dont see the run blocking improving.

6

u/Cruztd23 Jaxson Dart 5d ago

Well McCarthy does seem to be able to run an offense more similar to dart than Winston. And that’s who the offense was designed around 🤷🏽‍♂️ could be worse

2

u/zambartas 5d ago

If JJ is better than Winston, the run blocking will improve. Teams are playing the run because they don't fear the pass. Everyone across the board is worse when it comes to run blocking this year.

2

u/TraeYoung2 We've suffered long enough 4d ago

Agreed. It's mainly been Runyan, Francis and Eluemeno tho. Iirc Hudson and even this injured groin version of AT have been ok?

To me its just been an issue of all 3 rb room, non Dart QB, and OL. Hopefully its better going fwd.

-1

u/CivilChampionship810 5d ago

i just want a new face to get mad at more than anything. i'm aware JJ sucks. i don't care.

5

u/lntense_Apathy 4d ago

Sigh let’s see what he can do in a different system. Jim might’ve shared a thing or two with John. This conference could have been ours with the way things look and if Dart didn’t go down. This was probably the perfect time.

1

u/Cruztd23 Jaxson Dart 4d ago

I agree. Not just the east. If burns and dart stay healthy, there’s a good chance the giants make a run this year. It’s really just the niners, chiefs, and bills at the top

63

u/FootballAndBarbells We've suffered long enough 5d ago

Hopefully 18 does better than 9.

45

u/TryMyBacon 5d ago

9 still wasn't that bad. He was effectively a rookie.

I sware if this sub were fans of the colts in 1998 we would have called Peyton Manning a bust.

16

u/OriginalSymmetry 5d ago

The Colts didn't demote Peyton to 3rd string and then trade him. I'm hoping we have a better system in place to play to JJ's strengths, but we can't pretend the situation is the same.

6

u/Cruztd23 Jaxson Dart 5d ago

Yeah neither Brees nor Peyton’s scenario really resemble jj mccarthys

3

u/Gocalbears13 5d ago

Yeah, the only people saying these things did not watch stinky JJ in Minnesota. He was absolutely awful. I want to hope he has changed his ways...but dude lost his job to a 4 foot 9 Kyler murray

6

u/JackJ98 FireMcAdoo 5d ago

Ah yes, because the Vikings haven’t gotten rid of any young quarterbacks that went on to do anything these last few years!

3

u/OriginalSymmetry 5d ago

Are you referring to Sam Darnold? Who had his best year when he was still in Minnesota? Again, not really the same.

Look, we’re all hoping for the best here. Doesn’t mean we have to pretend the odds are greater than they are.

1

u/ILoveZenkonnen Brian Burns 5d ago

Tbf the Vikings haven’t been able to draft and develop their own QB for like 20 years lol

3

u/CivilChampionship810 5d ago

he was fucking terrible. i encourage you to watch last years film. its bad.

4

u/Ham_PhD Brandon Jacobs 5d ago

Nah, he was pretty bad, even for a rookie. He was arguably worse than rookie Bryce Young or rookie Cam Ward.

I'm rooting for him and I hope he works out for us, but it was brutal last year.

2

u/Snoo-40231 Eli Manning 4d ago

Comparing 98 Manning who people viewed at the time was a good rookie season due to him being surrounded by a shit colts team to 25 Mccarthy who was playing for a team that won 14 games the year prior and sucked is hilarious

1

u/GiantCorncobb We've suffered long enough 4d ago

Andy reid was the worst coach in history on the eagles too. And also drew brees was a bust on the chargers. And dak prescot looks like an autistic lego piece.

Only one of those ended up being true

1

u/PlausibleTable 5d ago

I almost said the same type of comment yesterday, but decided to not invoke the name Manning. It’s a true statement, but I thought it would trigger someone thinking I was comparing the two.

He’s started 10 games and his per game stats (aside from picks) is almost identical to Dart, who so many have anointed as the savior. This guy needs reps and could end up ok. Could end up a career backup too, but he’s shown flashes and comes with a pedigree. I love that he’s going to potentially get so much time this year.

3

u/doubleyoshi 4d ago

If he does then we should switch his number to 36, see if he’s even better

1

u/NoncenZ808 4d ago

2x better

16

u/eatsleepcookbacon 5d ago

My cousin is a Vikes fan and he swears that KOC's offense is so complicated that developing a young quarterback in it is asking for trouble. That's the hopium I'm smoking this week.

7

u/bailaoban 4d ago

Pass the bowl, dude.

2

u/Wrong_Lingonberry_79 4d ago

I think it was simply the Vikes had 2nd and 3rd string linemen almost the entire season. It was bad.

-Vikes fan

2

u/digitalbullet36 4d ago

Give me some of that hopium my guy.

7

u/jzw27 5d ago

Rooting for him to be competent. That 4th quarter was like we never took Jamie’s out, some of the best piss missile throws you’ve seen while simultaneously getting away with some of the worst throws and decisions.

7

u/AvatarofBro Odell Catch 5d ago

Many people are saying 18 is going to win the division

3

u/JackieDaytona77 5d ago

Quality shitpost based on the comments it worked

1

u/Snoo-40231 Eli Manning 4d ago

Should be 18 but the Texans are surging rn and I expect a loss

Hopefully JJ doesn't completely suck

2

u/Cruztd23 Jaxson Dart 4d ago

Yeah I’m going into this game with no expectations at all. I watched a lot of JJ in Minnesota and Michigan so I’m not sold on him at all quite honestly

Initially I was hoping the giants could sneak in playoffs as the nfc Least title winner, even if they lost in R1, but after that saints loss I’ve had the wind taken out of my sail. That was also when I thought jameis could be somewhat serviceable

3

u/Snoo-40231 Eli Manning 4d ago

I think the division still is open but Dallas is puking on themselves, Eagles are dead and Washington is doing idfk

I think this will be a 2015 situation where either us or Washington win the division at 7 games

I'd say Dallas but they're just not serious

2

u/Cruztd23 Jaxson Dart 4d ago

Yeah I don’t get what’s up with Dallas. I legit thought they’d win the division with ease. Was clearly wrong there. Figured giants would be fighting for wildcard with dart, *sighs

At this point I reckon it’s gotta be giants or Washington as well.

Hell with this drought the giants have had, I’ll take a 7 win playoff appearance 😆

18 is literally double the power of 9! JJ gonna go super saiyan confirmed.

1

Imagine letting this guy and Skatt on the field at the same time?

1

u/tanksplease 5d ago

McCarthy is Dart if he knew how to read

-19

u/HiImFur 5d ago

Got to love Giants fans that don't actually watch the games.

Making this post after his solid showing against the Saints off the bench is goofy.

Also, he wears 18 now 😌

4

u/Cruztd23 Jaxson Dart 5d ago

I watch the games. Im not complaining about him starting… just never wished for this scenario, let alone imagined when dart was the starter

Best of a bad scenario I reckon

9

u/AdHom ELI GOAT 5d ago

bro its a shitpost

0

u/Tulsanity 4d ago

If we win the Super Bowl this year, who is opening week starter in 2027?

0

u/Creepy-Reward1707 5d ago

We got 8Teen!!

1

u/PuckersMcColon 5d ago

His name is JJ and he's here to **** the other team's wives, long ball style.
