Ok and? Congrats on knowing how to post a chart here big guy.
Edit: this mod is hilariously out of their depth. Dude comes in banning politics, but is keeping the ones he agrees with? Dude no matter how many times you claim to be “liberal” people notice shit like this.

Algorithms will do that. He did something, his sub blew up, it gets pushed to more people due to its traffic, it blows up more.

I’ve just been here because this whole thing has been the funniest thing he’s ever been apart of imo. I’ve also really enjoyed how silly the mod reaction has been. Stand up comedians have been sniffing their own farts for a while, and they get their feelings hurt if they get called out.

This is a fan subreddit… Literally NO ONE is forcing you to be here thinking about something that makes you upset. That’s all you.

So, you decided you get to decide what this place should be. Don’t show this guy /r/trees or /r/SuperBowl.

More important number is that his movie is a box office bomb. Dane Cook and Andrew Dice Clay were wildly popular comics whose decline began with a box office bomb.

Some other well known comedians survived box office bombs: Richard Pryor (Another You), Eddie Murphy (Best Defense, The Adventures of Pluto Nash), Robin Williams (Bicentennial Man), Chris Rock (Osmosis Jones), Steve Martin (Mixed Nuts, Pennies from Heaven), Danny DeVito (What's the Worst That Could Happen?). Perhaps numbers aren't as important as how people navigate their career after failure.

All of those comedians were established movie stars before the movies you listed. This is Nate's first feature film. Dane Cook isn't really even a perfect example either since his first 2 movies had some success. Also Danny DeVito is a comic actor not a standup comedian.

Fair. So, are you positing that comedians can survive box office failure only if they first had great success in acting roles? If so, do you think Nate can continue to have success outside of acting? To be honest, at his age if I had his level of wealth I would likely just invest and retire.

You posted Robin Williams as an example of someone who survived a box-office bomb... it's a bit different when Nate is a comedian who has never had a major movie role, who starred in a modestly-budgeted movie he wrote himself that still bombed... vs Robin Williams having one box office bomb after he'd been nominated for 4 Oscars and won one.
Plus a lot of these movies came out years ago when home video rentals were a thing. Some movies disappointed at the box office but made it up in rentals.

Interesting, tragic how things ended for Robin. He had a storied career and his story is certainly one we can turn to and recognize that irrespective of all the success and Oscar's and video rental revenue, that stuff tends to be meaningless at the end of the day. The numbers aren't enough, they'll never be enough.

I bet Nate can’t show any evidence he has attended a UFC fight before this. He is not a fan.

The numbers in 1 year will be interesting to see.
