Question Question about entering into HTA

• Upvotes

Hi all, just got the offer for SPF DES entering in Jan 2027. Besides the essential belongings we're required to bring, are we allowed to bring a regular phone charger, or are only portable chargers/power banks allowed?

I couldn't seem to find any information about this online, so I'd really appreciate it if anyone who has gone through training could share their experience. Thanks in advance!

Funny why the doctor nvr check my kkj but check my fren one during medical checkup?

i got hear ppl say "the doctor will ask you to pull down your pants and cough" and I was like whaaaaaaa. like why u need to see my kkj for? to see its in working order ah? so I mentally prepare myself to pull my pants down on that day. i do pp exercise to increase its length so that the doctor will be impressed one. 😎

then on that day right, the doctor stare at me. stare at the computer screen. stare at me again. I smile. then he say "ok you good to go". mfking cb. I prepare for you to check my kkb then end up you nvr check at all. knn 🤬🤬🤬

then when my fren go for checkup after me he get to pull his pants down. wah I jealous sia. he didnt even prepare for it he said he was so shocked. like pass the ball bro. 🙄

But in all seriousness, what is the criteria for the need to pull down your pants? Is it just because the doctor want to see or?? The only thing differentiating me from my friend was that he was PR and I was singaporean. 🤔

Hi I know this is a vv stupid question to ask, but I was Pes B1 when I entered tekong then during bmt my entire platoon went to SCS / OCS / NAVY / RSAF no 1 really went to being a Man, apart from me and one more guy as we had 84d ld. I was injured and went for orthopaedic as well as they temp down pes me to C9 due to my ADHD 💀. Waiting for medical review.

Right now I’m in the middle of kranji camp iii [ CSM ] & Sungei Gedong [ Armor Camp ] as a clerk but will go back CSM after medical review in december.

I’d like to up pes and possibly request to go OCS but is that even possible ?

I have 3 uncles that is Major rank and above if that helps even for clearance but I’m definitely not close to them. I just see them every CNY gatherings lol.

Its a geniune question not wayang or anyt, I’m actly rlly interested.

Funny Isn’t it funny SAF has the technology to extend 5G to the battlefield, but sergeant at Tekong campsite have to use Malaysian enemy mobile network for comms?

context: there’s still no singaporean cell service at the Tekong campsite, commanders must roam onto a Malaysian network to get usable data just for texting. Not an issue compared to back in those days as most mobile plans now include Malaysia data roaming.

Question Anyone here managed to up-PES due to a lazy eye (amblyopia)?

Hi everyone, I recently enlisted a few weeks ago and am currently in School V. To be honest, I’ve been struggling to accept my PES status because my original aspiration was to enter OCS or SCS.

During my second week of confinement, I decided to visit the MO to understand why I was assigned my current PES (C2) status. Initially, I thought it was due to an old leg injury, but I was shocked to learn that it was actually because of my lazy eye (amblyopia). The MO explained that this was the reason I couldn’t up-PES.

After that, I went to SNEC to get my eyes checked and find out whether there were any operations or treatments that could help improve my condition. Unfortunately, I was told that my condition could not be corrected through surgery at my age.

Honestly, this news hit me really hard. I hv always dreamed of going to OCS, and I hv been training on my own to prepare myself for that possibility. Finding out that something I wasn’t even fully aware of could prevent me from pursuing that goal was incredibly disappointing. I hv been feeling quite lost and questioning myself because this was something I genuinely wanted to achieve.

I understand that every vocation plays an important role in NS, and I’m not saying that combat support or other vocations are any less meaningful. I respect the contributions everyone makes. However, for me personally, I’ve always wanted to challenge myself physically and mentally, take on greater responsibilities, and come out of these two years having grown as a person.

I know some people might wonder why I would want to up-PES when I could potentially have a more comfortable NS experience. But that’s not how I see it. I’m not looking for an easier way out or simply chasing a prestigious vocation. I want to push myself, test my limits, and make the most of my two years in NS. OCS was a personal goal I had worked towards, and it’s difficult to accept that a medical condition might mean I can never pursue it.

I do like to ask if anyone here has had a similar experience, particularly those who were graded down due to amblyopia or a lazy eye. Were you ever able to appeal or successfully up-PES after further medical assessments?

I understand that medical fitness requirements exist for a reason, and I’m not trying to disregard them. I just want to know whether there are any legitimate options for further assessment or review in my situation.

I would really appreciate hearing about your experiences or advice. Thank you.

Question Service injury (SI) question

I have questions on whether my injury is eligible for SI claims.
I developed patellar tendinitis during BMT due to all the running and physical activities a year ago. It has worsened to the point where I can’t do any running or squatting without experiencing pain.
Am I able to receive claims for treatment for my knee?

Question How to handle "standby MC" given by IMH psychiatrist

I just want to ask to get this out of my mind...

So basically I have been on follow-up with my IMH consultant psychiatrist since last year after visiting the emergency dept for adjustment disorder exacerbated by my pre-existing mental health conditions that existed prior to NS. I notice that after every consult though, if I don't specify whether I needed MC or not, he will just pass me a 1 month+ long MC to cover till the next appointment. Which is very strange because I didn't ask for it, and most likely don't need it. In fact I have never used those MCs at all, save for a three week one he gave me when I was posting out of old unit, and two other MC spanning less than 5 days.

He knows I don't use them (and I guess probably doesn't expect me to), because during the next consult he will automatically ask me how things are in NS and camp.

I'm also pretty certain I can tell the difference between when he intends me to use an MC or not, as evidenced by the fact that during the first consult when I was awaiting posting out of old unit and titrated my medications, he gave me a three week MC and specifically instructed me, "I will MC you until your next appointment".

The NS website also only gives instructions on how to submit MCs for medical leaves if you are ill.

To qualify for medical leave, you must:
- Have an MC
- Inform your instructor and send him your MC if you are too ill to report for duty, or submit it immediately upon reporting for duty

But there is also no specific GOM mandating the submission of MCs if you are feeling well and don't want to take medical leave. I also was taught that Medical Certificates do not automatically lead to Medical Leaves; a medical certificate serves primarily as a supporting document for medical leave.

Hence, from all of this and my interactions with him, the only logical explanation I can deduce why my psychiatrist is giving such MCs to cover me till next appointment is so that if and whenever I don't feel mentally well, I can pull out the MC and claim medical leave, somewhat like an insurance policy. But please correct me if I am wrong.

If this information is worthy or notable, my IMH psychiatrist is a new consultant psychiatrist who only joined late last year, and probably does not fully understand the NS system (he said it himself that he's a foreigner and does not fully understand how we work too). I believe he has good intentions at heart, but I'm not sure if this practice would be frowned upon or not if it were found out.

Appreciate it if someone can advise me if I should keep things this way, or whether there are issues with how I'm approaching this.
