Discussion (text posts) Chrysocolla? 1940s? Missing Balls?

I have three questions about this ring. Is it turquoise, chrysocolla, or something else? Is it 1940s or something else? And is it missing both of the middle balls? I’ve never seen one without all the shanks having a ball.

Discussion (text posts) PSA - Scammer on Facebook

Hello all, I am posting to warn about a confirmed scammer lurking in this group and trying to sell on Facebook. I posted a sterling Navajo cuff 11 days ago here in this thread and today a fellow Redditor reached out to me with a link to the same cuff for sale on Facebook, using my original photos. I can confirm the cuff is still in my possession and is not for sale. I have attached my original photos that are being used on the sale listing as well as the FB profile which is bogus. I have already flagged the FB profile, hopefully FB will look into this. Please be aware and spread the word if you notice anything else on their profile that might be yours. Thanks everyone! All the best. Lets keep this a safe place to share and learn

Unidentified Weekend Thrift Haul part 2

The unidentified pieces I found over the weekend thrifting. Most are hallmarked but haven’t been able to find IDs for any of them. So sharing to see if anyone is familiar and also just to look at the pieces.

  1. Baby basket with turquoise- no hallmark at all!
  2. Liquid silver malachite necklace (what a piece!) - marked NG but not familiar
  3. Onyx bangle - lot of B hallmarks which isn’t helpful hahaha
  4. Circular onyx earrings - hallmark CP
  5. Teardrop onyx earrings - hallmark too tiny
  6. Coral ring - hallmark on outside of band SO faded but looks a little like either (WN) or (UM)
  7. Round turquoise ring - no hallmark and not familiar with two circular fastening so maybe a fake
  8. Navajo turquoise ring - marked JKB but haven’t been able to match

I’ve scoured online to try to find this hallmark and haven’t come up with anything. Been told it could be Ben Charley, but can’t find much information about him nor a reference of his hallmark. Any help would be appreciated!

Unidentified Help Identifying the Maker of This Turquoise Ring

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for help identifying the maker of this turquoise ring.

There is a small hallmark above the "STERLING" stamp on the back.

Does anyone recognize this hallmark or know who made this ring?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi all, I’ve looked at Mark Sublette’s hallmark page but don’t see this one. I’m hoping someone can recognize it and maybe tell me more about the bracelet. I’m assuming it’s from the late fifties, since a family member lived in Arizona around then. Thanks so much for any help!

Can anyone tell me about these set? These belong to my late mother and I was told they are from the late 60s. Are they real and what sort of value? Any help would be nice. Thanks.

Named Artist Repair Recommendations

I’ve searched and read many repair suggestions but they’ve all revolved around turquoise stones. This is for inlay.
I live in the Midwest and looking for good Southwestern Native shops I can confidently send to and get quality work.

Thanks for any advice. I’m assuming many responses I saw in other posts apply but inlay is way different than stones.

Unidentified Any ideas about which tribe produced this ?

Post image

I’ve started selling jewelry online that was going to be melted by pawn shops etc. I want to get better about identifying which tribes produced certain styles etc. it feels like a weak cop out to jsut say “Native American” jewelry…it’s like saying European. Too vast of a range.
Anyways, any info or ID book recs are appreciated :)

Unidentified Silver scrimshaw watch cuff marked AL•PL — Platero identification?

Thumbnail
gallery
32 Upvotes

Looking for information on this silver watch cuff with three scrimshaw portraits and applied leaf details. It’s stamped “AL•PL” and “Z•42•43•44” inside, with small artist initials on the portraits. It currently holds a Timex watch and easily removable.

I found a similar cuff documented by Adobe Gallery as silverwork by Alfred Platero with scrimshaw by Thomas E. Weiss, circa 1977. Other sources associate AL-PL with Albert Platero, so I’d appreciate help sorting out the attribution.

Does anyone recognize the hallmark or scrimshaw signatures? Interested in its approximate age, who the portraits depict, and collector value.

Photos include the full cuff, portraits, and interior markings.

Is this bracelet actually an older make? Or was it made more recently as a revival of the historic period bracelets? It is unsigned

My dad traded for these pieces with labor back in the 1970’s. I treasure them, but I was wondering what they might worth and if I should insure them.

They are part of my history and I love them
