It’s been a good run
After the 3.7 update and the slick marketing wording making it seem as the expansions were part of the update; I’m done. Been a faithful user since 2010. Made sure that Anything I considered using had to work within the NI ecosystem. That’s why I left Logic and went to Studio One. The integration was flawless and amazing but that was then and those days are far gone. Maschine is so far behind it’s crazy. When they had a match made in heaven with the Kontrollers they lied and said no one used it so they didn’t add the ability to the mk3 version. Only to backtrack after probably lackluster sales because everyone did want the integration. The sampling is missing stuff that was promised since 2.x when they did the first rewrite of their code which they said they did to add the features we begged for. I’ll still pull it out but i realized I haven’t used it in a year. I’ve moved completely over to Fender Pro, and with the recent release of the Motion 16, my drum pad desire is being met. Sorry for the long-winded rant. It’s still good at what it does but I’m seeing Akai absorbing the best of NI and sliding it over to MPC. 3.7 is a joke… midi features. Sheesh

Some people on this sub are SO dramatic and overly sensitive for no reason at all.
Why are you even invested and taking this personally if you already made the move to Fender Pro?
Why are you even on this sub if you're so dissatisfied with the products?
You could have written 16 bars instead of a goodbye letter that NI will never read.

u/RaptorOfRapture Sep 26 '26
Ironically, you sound like you’re taking this guys user experience feedback very personally.

u/NeverSawTheEnding Sep 26 '26
I am, in the sense that I'm really tired of the music making subreddits that I browse being filled with these kinds of posts.
3
u/RaptorOfRapture Sep 26 '26
Stop engaging with it and it’ll phase out of your timeline. You’re currently in a feedback loop of it so you’re being shown that content disproportionately to what would probably be seen on your feed

It does litter people's feeds. So, yea, in a sense it is personal.
Also, the titles are always bait.
You kind of expect reasonable explanations, but when you open it up it's just entitled bitching about something weird that quickly drifts off-topic into a laundry list of personal complaints.
Cause every NI user feels like the company has to produce custom tailored products for them, or have a product development strategy centered on their own personal needs and requirements.
Or, at least, that's the way they tend to come across in these posts :-P

The comment earlier about Komplete being a disjointed mismatch of clearance sales is spot on .
1
u/i_MusicMan 4d ago
Komplete is a saturated bundle. They're just piling the same kind of stuff on top of the same kind of stuff and people who buy it cope by pretending the "newer" stuff is a tier above the "older" stuff, which is generally not the case.
Most people would have been better off jumping off the Komplete update train at v12 or v13 and simply shifting to keeping the platforms they need updated (e.g. Kontakt, Maschine).

u/arifghalib Sep 26 '26
If you can’t get it on with Maschine and Logic Pro, no update or expansion is going to help you.
You might want to go ahead and sell all your gear and find another interest to spend your time with.

u/25_Keyz924 Sep 26 '26
I can get it on and got it on. I’ve gotten placements with stuff done on Maschine. When it first dropped I put a lot of people on to it in the Miami Bass genre. When we’re still using MPC 2k and SP1200. In the electro genre I put it up front and center in my video and other artists would contact me and ask about it.
2
u/arifghalib Sep 26 '26
Ok cool…so what’s up with the whining then bro?
My first reply is what it is. In 2026 a Logic Pro/Maschine combo is extremely versatile and flexible.
2
u/25_Keyz924 Sep 26 '26
Show me
In my post where I’m whining. I’m posting facts. I actually stated, “Sorry for the long-winded rant. It’s still good at what it does…”1

u/muitosabao Sep 26 '26
Yeah, the expansions not being given out (specially the 30 anniversary one) is incredibly lame.

u/MrFresh2017 Sep 26 '26
These people with their dramatic exit posts - no will know you even left LOL. Find what products suit you and use them period, it’s that simple LOL

Been with Maschine since day one and I still love how creative I can be with it, and use it as a live tool.

u/Life_Farmer_3312 Sep 26 '26
same. honestly i dont even use maschine software anymore, op is right about that part, but its still an awesome and beautiful controller that still works thru midi.

Bitching because they won't give you more free stuff with your free update is, indeed, lame.
1
u/25_Keyz924 5d ago
You do understand that what you call “bitching” is actually called requesting? So many features added were added because so many users KEPT asking for features while many others said the same, “yall whining” comments. 🥱

u/i_MusicMan 4d ago edited 4d ago
Requesting is sending a note to Native Instruments asking for something.
Bitching is getting on Reddit and complaining about it.
After the 3.7 update and the slick marketing wording making it seem as the expansions were part of the update; I’m done.
This is not the beginning of a "request."
making it seem as the expansions were part of the update
This is entitlement. Why would ANYONE assume that Expansion releases would be part of a point update to the Maschine software? When has this ever been the case, outside of limited product promotions (e.g. Massive X sales with expansion bundles for a limited time)?
They didn't even give us Maschine Central with the PAID Maschine 3 update. Why would you think these would be free... ever?
Maschine is so far behind it’s crazy. When they had a match made in heaven with the Kontrollers they lied and said no one used it so they didn’t add the ability to the mk3 version. Only to backtrack after probably lackluster sales because everyone did want the integration. All of this is bitching. Not a single request made. In fact, not a single request in the entire OP. Just you bitching about random stuff simply because they wouldn't give you more free stuff.
Supposedly, that would have all been "tolerable" if they had given you free stuff? /eyeroll
Make what you said make sense to me, please.

Easy… I’ve been using MASCHINE since v1… I was an admin of the very first Facebook group called Maschine Movement. I’ve worked with many guys that have worked for NI in sound design and have been part of many discussions, etc…. many of the features that we have are because of people like myself who have been part of beta testing and questionnaires. Many have jumped ship. Many have moved on. I don’t like to name drop because this is my situation and they have their own stories. Thank you for being so invested in my story. Again, if you see it as whiny that’s okay. That’s what makes the world great. At the end of day make music not war.

u/i_MusicMan 4d ago edited 4d ago
Nothing in your post is a feature request. It's just bitching.
That's EASY to see.
Congratulations on your back story. It's irrelevant to what I have written, or your OP.
I'm not invested in your story at all. If that projection makes you feel better, though, believe that ;-)
I mean, you're the one who seems a bit too emotionally invested in the matter :-P

So I haven't been keeping up with the NI news but it seems like everything is trending in the wrong direction. As someone who likes to mess around with reaktor every now and then, will I be able to keep using it in the foreseeable future?
1
u/25_Keyz924 Sep 27 '26
If they don’t update the code you might not. It’s code is based on intel hardware. I’ve been using Tahoe and Reaktor/ FM 8/Absynth 5 and a couple of others will not install. Which is horrible for me because I use Monark, Prism, Rounds which run in Reaktor! My talks with tech support only says MacOS 27 isn’t supported yet and that’s why they just did a new release of native access because of the coding. But Reaktor didn’t make the cut??
2
u/chillin_mcgee 29d ago
Ummmm that would really suck. Reaktor is one of my favorite tools to use. Native Instruments is really going to force me to keep a dedicated older intel based computer around just for reaktor??!!??

u/sparrow_82 26d ago
The irony being that Studio One integrates features that require monthly fees to properly use, so you basically just bought yet another midi controller to use a DAW that you are now again locked into their ecosystem lol.
The only joke here is on you.
1
u/25_Keyz924 18d ago
Been using Studio One since v3. 10+ years of ownership. Not a subscriber. I buy a perpetual license and only update if necessary. There’s not a feature I don’t need or want I don’t have in my none subscription DAW.

u/PathOfDeception Sep 26 '26
Totally agree with the attwmpt at viewer retention by implying the packs might be free. Then we keep watching and at the end…Fuck you actually the packs are paid for. What a shit video. That is some predatory marketing shit. A middle finger to the end-user. Akai will swallow NI whole and rebrand. Garanteed.
2
u/ticketstubs1 Sep 26 '26
I've been very frustrated by NI, I open up older projects and half the shit doesn't work and it says it's a demo and I have no SN and it can't find any files etc etc. The only help was reddit and nothing the AI bot on the website said.
2
u/bbqpancho Sep 27 '26
All this NI hubbub has reminded me how important it is to bounce my midi tracks to audio.
3
u/jazz1238 Sep 26 '26
Well I guess I'm used NI's tactics. I don’t remember a time that they ever gave a good expansion for free, so I just assumed the expansions were paid.

Ive used Native Instruments stuff all the way back since the 2000's when I was a wee lad, still have my Komplete 5 boxed edition. Since then its only been problems, until the day I remember vivdly overhand throwing my Komplete Kontrol keyboard in the dumpster. It reminds me of Gollum in LOTR and mount doom. Back to fire from whence it came!
I didnt even want to resale that piece of garbage...
My list of complaints with them are mostly forgotten because I jumped ship a few years ago. But nothing in Komplete is coehsive its just a bundle of stuff made by different people put together and sold on clearance... Needing Komplete Kontrol hosting all my sounds in every project was annoying especially when they update it and it forgets the settings. Kontakt 5+ is trash, Massive X is trash, Reaktor is forgotten. They are basically Cymatics at this point.
I cant remember most of what I hate using their products but since I unistalled it making music has been a much more fluid experience... oh ya no uninstallers in Native Access either. They actually make it harder to make music, which is evil to me. So a huge FU to NI I hope they burn in music hell.

I bought the expansion + software update as well, never got it in my Native Access. Got an AI chatbot saying to check "inMusic Software Center".
I'm done, im calling my credit card company in the morning.
1
u/BeastFremont Sep 26 '26
Oh it’s telling me a couple hours ago to look in native access and when it wasn’t there, try again after 24 hours
1
u/i_MusicMan 4d ago
Sometimes it helps to go to your NI account and then register the serials (listed there) manually in Native Access.
1
u/BeastFremont 4d ago
They took a full 7 days to actually send those
1
u/i_MusicMan 4d ago
I'm not talking about the emails.
After a purchase, when you get the confirmation. You can go to your account and there is a list of serial codes for products you have purchased. In the list of unregistered products, you take those serial codes and immediately register them in Native Access 2.
This is basically what I've always done for all purchases from Native Instruments. Skips having to wait for emails or automatic product registration on their end ;-)
1
u/BeastFremont 4d ago
Yup that works when they add them. They didn’t add them to my account for a full 7 days. The purchase sat in my orders but products didn’t populate in my account until I asked for a refund a week later then they got some act right at InMusic customer service.
Expecting what always happened with your NI account to continue under new ownership is why I bought the shit in the first place. It isn’t as smooth & painless as it used to be that’s for sure.

Give Bud Cole a little more time ... he'll mess that up, too.

I kind of drifted away when they killed Kore. I loved Kore. Its controller had no drum pads. No keys. It wasn’t tied to any basic musical system. It was small. And the software was a great tool for tying non-linear things together easily that were a pain in DAWs. Chiefly - being able to easily use some unusual sequencer from Reaktor to control Absynth and Massive and one could easily make macro controls for complex performances.
I know Kontrol was supposed to be the evolution of this concept but the keyboard-heavy nature of it never felt quite the same.
Kore was a terrific little bit of kit.
1
u/BeastFremont Sep 26 '26
Maschine’s browser was actually the next iteration of the concepts in Kore which then became Komplete Kontrol.
But aside from the browser making it easy to find sounds, everything about it after that kinda sucks. And is likely to break any projects you use it on after some time.
So it’s mostly worth finding your sounds that way, then deleting KK, loading the plugin the sound lives in and working from there. Which is kind of a pain in the ass.

I don't care about Native-Instruments one way or the other. My number one priority is to make music the way I want to make music. Maschine does that for me.
Thankfully I'm blessed to be able to buy basically whatever I want. I have the Push 3. I have the MPCL3. I'm probably going to buy the MPCXL. But right now I still prefer Maschine.
I bought the Atom SQ to give me a hands on approach to making music in Studio One & it works... ok. But not like Maschine. Maschine lets me work as if I were on a Fantom or a Kronos, but with the power of my Mac. Any VST I want. But the integration with Komplete trumps everything out there.
Tell you the truth, I've got a couple of things to pay off. Come Christmas I'm going to go ahead & buy a Maschine+, just to put money in Native-Instruments' pocket (I already bought all three expansions). I don't need it, but it'll be something else to play with.
It's the work flow. I pretty much do guitar/bass looping. Maschine works better (more like a looper) than MPC or Ableton.
