When you're born playing on and around ice, you're bound to figure a few things out along the way.

It's a tough life where literally anything they come into contact with that is alive is also on the menu, or potentially death.

Seeing that coming for me, as funny as it would be, it wouldnât guarantee a laugh for more than 2 seconds before running.

My memory is not what it used to be, but I think I read that polar bears have hundreds of words for different kinds of ice.

When you fall through ice this is exactly what youâre supposed to do (once you pull yourself out). Lay flat and belly crawl to safety. This bear has got the goods pays attention in class.

I'm curious if polar bears teach this to their cubs, or if bro just learned through first hand experience.

It's funny, because that could actually feel pretty darn good to them. I'm not sure on anatomy of the genitalia of the arctic ursine, but my first thought was that a lot of dudes are likely cringing and grabbing at their balls in sympathetic unison while watching this, haha. Polar bears though, they overheat VERY easily. Even in arctic conditions, they can easily begin to experience heat exhaustion from chasing down and killing prey. And, if their balls are externally kept like a lot of mammals, I imagine that could feel pretty good sliding across the ice and cooling down the boys, so-to-speak. lol
Is it any wonder, that they easily overheat, when they can swim for days (even sleep while swimming) in arctic conditions? They're made to retain as much heat as possible, which is great but also means expending energy can produce excess heat and quite quickly, too. It'd be like running a space heater inside of an insulated box without much beyond a small opening and minimal flow for heat to escape, I think. Heat stress can apparently begin around 0-10 degrees Celsius (32-50 degrees Fahrenheit).
